Absolutely great. I worked on the Northern Pacific as a boy, then in the 70's as a welder on Welding Crew #3 on the Burlington Northern. This layout reminds me of the Western Montana area, starting with picking up helpers west of Helena to push the load over Mullen Pass. Very enjoyable...thanks!
Great work!!! I wish I could build something like that.... I had one before, not as beautiful as this one but I told myself that I will build another one when I retire from work and looking at this video makes me want to start building now. This is incredible... Gives me lots of ideas...
From an old retired ATSF Throttle Jerker, this a top notch layout, I love it. I saw the begining, now I know why Dispatchers have no hair, LOL. Enjoyed the video.
Absolutely the best i've seen! i always had problems with my trains ceasing or stopping even though i had good connections w/ wires and a good dc transformer/ controller. I'll figure it out one of these days!
Awesome is right. Awesome layout, the motive power, rolling stock, scenery, super-detailing, the list goes on.... best part is the people that make it all happen at each operating session. Thanks to layout owner Tim for sharing this masterpiece, and Craig for documenting / posting! Good times, no doubt.
Totally totally and UTTERLY AWESOME! I am a model railroader and I am blown away by the excitement of this video!! I am knocked out about what a bunch of friends and associates can do! Arthur Burghardt Thank you for the experience!
I got sucked into model railroading with my hubby's garden railroad when I met him in HS. We've been into HO and G ever since. We model BN after his passion for living near the Chicago-Aurora Racetrack line. I grew up originally near KCS. But My passion has become BN aswell.
This layout is more impressive than anything you've ever accomplished in your life, thus far. This model railroad overshadows your negative comment. Goodbye. Also, my props to the people who created and run this layout. Awesome job.
Burlington Northern had an incredible paint scheme. It's too bad that when the railroads combined to make BNSF, that this corporate scheme was not retained.
Wow, that is so cool :) I was part of a N-scale rail association, when i was 12-14, located in a safe room which i think had about 300 meters of tracks. Up until then i had used H0 but changed to N so i could run trains on the railway. Havent used/built or seen something like this in over 10 years, brings back memories. And H0 looks cooler to be honest.
This is a work of great beauty. Thank u very much for sharing it here. And thanks to the people who clearly put in many, many hours of diligent work in creating the little world there, and for their generosity in sharing the sights and sounds of their labors.
Jaw dropping scenery, ballast and track work, beautifully weathered sound equipped units, realistic dispatching, locomotives performing as if they were hauling TONNAGE..............this is as sweet as western model railroading gets!
this is now in my watch later section. this is 1 of those videos that u gotta watch more than once. good job and... that layout must be huge. oh yes, i just got a digitrax dcc controller. super siked.
I like the casualness of this video. The reality gets awesome and then a giant head pops up - oh that's right it's a model. It is fun how you made use of the space and how the contrast between HO space and the basement is evident. OK so some will say this detracts from the realism and that may be true but it is an interesting ingredient to entertain.
@crazyfvck: On the prototype, they "bottle the air". This is done by closing the reservoir on the car coupled to the helpers (on the rear end section of the train). This maintains the air pressure that was used to stop the train only moments before, but for a limited time. Once the helpers are cut out, the train is reassembled (well before the air in the closed system can bleed off). The reservoir is reopened once the connection is made again. Plus, they're rarely cut on the steepest part.
I'm very impressed by the work done on this layout. And what's more, although I work in N scale, you've still provided me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. Thank you.
lmao this video was taken on my birthday this year! I'm actually planning a BNSF layout for myself, and this layout, along with the Montana Northland in the August '09 Model Railroader are both exactly what I want >.>
@MarburgerKreisbahn05: Our chief dispatcher is a FREMO member here in SoCal. The RR is operated via BN's rule 271 (I think that's the rule no.) which means all train movement is governed by CTC. We have real CTC. We do have timetables but we don't use them as our dispatching method.
Very impressive. I had the old SCL railroad and modeled mine after the NC line through Benson NC. Nothing like this scale and detail though. It must have taken alot of time and effort to put this impressive railroad together. Kudos!
Should mention, also, the excellent weathering, more evident on the later videos. And love to see that semaphore moving through its quadrant. Always interesting to see an overall view of a layout, and its underpinnings.
I am so positively impressed with the design and realistic operation scenario that is coupled with the meaningful scenery and structures. Keep up the excellent work. Thank you for sharing this work of art. Hopefully, you will be able to post more videos.

My apartment is about half the size as this layout. Worked my whole life to find out that model trains live better than I do! Thanks for sharing.
Love the BN switcher - I have never seen one like that before. BN has always been one of my favorites.
Tim's layout is one of my favorites. Wish he and craig would post more videos. Craig does a great job with the camera work
Dang this is one of the neatest things I've seen for model railroading.
Very nice layout. I could only wish I had this one..Like the type of era displayed here. Great work guys..
By the by Matt, your scenery is so realistic, I can do all my rail fanning sitting here on my couch....
Im from Northern Minnesota , that was Burlington Northern country for a long time. Excellent layout, it gives me hope for mine
this is as real as you can get to real life vintage railroading... im a big fan of the bn and love the realisim in the layout... *****
Great work!!! I wish I could build something like that.... I had one before, not as beautiful as this one but I told myself that I will build another one when I retire from work and looking at this video makes me want to start building now. This is incredible... Gives me lots of ideas...
What a great layout, love the grain train. Nice slow speed operation!!
From an old retired ATSF Throttle Jerker, this a top notch layout, I love it. I saw the begining, now I know why Dispatchers have no hair, LOL. Enjoyed the video.
Awesome layout. Great to see so many people having a good time.
nice work on the ballast... it looked so real near the turn tables.... 2:40 what a great train...
Absolutely the best i've seen! i always had problems with my trains ceasing or stopping even though i had good connections w/ wires and a good dc transformer/ controller. I'll figure it out one of these days!
What a sweet looking layout. . Thanks for sharing.
Awesome is right.

Good times, no doubt.
Very cool. Working semaphores a nice touch. Playing trains on a grand layout. Good times
Wow...first time I've seen this video. I had a small HO scale layout back in the late 50's early 60's but nothing like this one. So cool.
Totally totally and UTTERLY AWESOME! I am a model railroader and I am blown away by the excitement of this video!! I am knocked out about what a bunch of friends and associates can do! Arthur Burghardt Thank you for the experience!
Found this video while killing time on UA-cam. Impressive, even to a railroad worker like me! You guys really get in to this stuff! Nice work...
this is the most incredible layout i have EVER seen...excellent job!

i could watch this all day very beautiful! 5 stars great job!!
This layout is more impressive than anything you've ever accomplished in your life, thus far. This model railroad overshadows your negative comment. Goodbye.
Also, my props to the people who created and run this layout. Awesome job.
that is probably the best train set i've seen, Brilliant!
MAN! This layout is awesomeness! Tell those guys at that club that a youtuber said that their track is by far the best ive seen!
Burlington Northern had an incredible paint scheme. It's too bad that when the railroads combined to make BNSF, that this corporate scheme was not retained.
awesome layout and interaction by the train crew and dispatch.
Awesome!!!What else can i say,now that's what a real model railroad looks like!Great job guys.
I want to commend you gentlemen on a job so well done I will be dreaming for weeks. Thanks for showing the spirit of "rail fanning" at its best!!
I never thought I would miss old big green, its been months with out seeing ANY SD40-2 but at least there are still a few GP40s in green.
Awesome. When I get better at building layouts I wanna make a large one like this, only have be set in the early 90s.
Wow, that is so cool :) I was part of a N-scale rail association, when i was 12-14, located in a safe room which i think had about 300 meters of tracks. I'll agree. Some of the best footage along with one of the best model railroads... Should be in Model Railroader.
This is a work of great beauty.
Thank u very much for sharing it here.
And thanks to the people who clearly put in many, many hours of diligent work in creating the little world there, and for their generosity in sharing the sights and sounds of their labors.
Hi Folks,Wow what a layout and the sound of the engines are amazing.I love it. It's real,so you hear the turbo. Turn up my speakers!!! 5*****
Beautiful layout. They have done some great modeling. And operations are very prototypical.
This is probably one of the best operational layout I have seen in a while.

this is now in my watch later section. this is 1 of those videos that u gotta watch more than once. good job and... that layout must be huge. oh yes, i just got a digitrax dcc controller. super siked.
Great video. I love the Milwaukee RR locomotives. My dad worked for them for 25 years.
nice work guys,it looks like a real railroad
Awesome work. BN is my favorite and this has the look and feel of it.
We want a NEW movie of this fabulous layout !!!
PLEASE !!!
I am so thuroughly impressed and even more envious!!! BRAVO!
Outstanding railroad, I can't wait to see more of this railroad.

Awesome video. Love Burlington Northern trains. Great job guys.
Wow, love the signals, and the realistic slow, steady speed
I'm very impressed by the work done on this layout. And what's more, although I work in N scale, you've still provided me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. Thank you.

Great to finally see that trains are not speeding because that is the most common mistake they make. Great job for that matter.
These guys have reached a level of nerd I only hope one day to become.
Should mention, also, the excellent weathering, more evident on the later videos. And love to see that semaphore moving through its quadrant. Always interesting to see an overall view of a layout, and its underpinnings.
That was a nice ops session, I liked when they brought in the helpers.
Awesome layout & trains!
