this is my first video of yours and I love that you include seemingly mundane aspects of safety! putting up the tape, making sure you're on time to your safety call with your wife, mentioning how since you're alone it'd be bad to get injured and so you drive slow. it all just shows how long and seriously you do this. and serves as a great example!

I love Dan's videos. Always a blast watching them. There's everything: great vistas and nature, watching someone having a blast, doing skillful work and explaining things, the excitement of unearthing some of Earth's buried treasures, and wonder at the unique structure and beauty of the gems when cut. Each one is like a drip feed of pure dopamine.

We had an embankment like that at our family resort. It was way back in the woods and kids would find it and play on it. I was 17 when tasked with cutting that hill down.
What I ended up doing was digging a trench about three feet back on the top of the hill behind the tree or something. Deep and wide enough to get a good car jack in there. I braced the soil with thick plywood and some 2x4s. Then just pumped the jack and toppled whole trees with their roots and everything. It took a few days but it worked. You have to be willing to sacrifice a chainsaw chain. You will need to cut through dirty roots and that chews through blades. It was worth it. I hope this gives you ideas on how to handle that hill.

A Pulaski would work too. Its a bit harder labour, but Dan has teenage boys so the Labour ain't A problem. With a Pulaski you can trench and cut at the same time. Its a fire fighting tool that all the greenhorns pick up first although they don't cut line well without the other hand tools like a hazel hoe.

Totally random side note. I live in a part of Europe which is densely populated, not mountainous and basically a "garden country". There is virtually no unmanaged Land and if there is, it is nature preserve and off bounds. Everything is settlement, road, field, managed forest or garden and it is virtually always illegal to use powered vehicles on managed land. I always considered ATVs to be mens toys worse than motorcycles (those i ride happily) because they are slower and bigger than bikes and less useful than a truck or tractor. Your channel made me realize how amazingly useful they are in other parts of the world.

😱 OMG!!!😱 THIS IS _SERIOUSLY_ **ALL** I WANT TO DO WITH MY LIFE!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 You've got _NO_ IDEA!! My grandpa was a "rock hunter" and had the saws and everything- It's in my BLOOD! As a child, I _ALWAYS_ walked with my eyes down, looking for cool stuff on the ground (and it's paid off... I've found cut diamonds and gemstones that have fallen out of rings 😅).
I _CONSTANTLY_ had SOOO many rocks in my coat pockets, they started ripping!! My parents MADE me put my HUMONGOUS rock collection behind the fence at our house 😢... I was SO upset!
Well, I'm 37 yrs old now, and that INSATIABLE HUNGER to find beautiful and interesting rocks has _NEVER_ WANED!! We just moved, and HALF the bins I had were... You guessed it... Full of rocks!!! 🤣
I even do this when I take my son to the park... It's lined with ROCKS; So the whole time he's playing, I'm looking for cool and interesting rocks!! I've found fossils, gemstones, all KINDS of crazy stuff!!
People walking by must think I'm CRAZY 😅...
I have OCD and anxiety: The OCD makes me HYPER FOCUSED when I'm looking for something, but it can be almost _IMPOSSIBLE_ to pull me away sometimes 🤦🏼‍♀️.... With the anxiety, this is the *ONE* thing that calms me... As long as I'm looking with wide-eyed ~WONDER~ at the _INCREDIBLE_ "artwork" of Mother Nature, I feel at peace and at home here on earth....
....It would be an ABSOLUTE *_DREAM_* to do what you're doing... (I had to quit my jobs mainly due to the anxiety; but, OH LORDY if I could °°ONLY°° live the life you do..!! 🥹 I might actually be something MORE than the "couch potato" I am now... 🥲)😅

I ordered 2 large un-opened Thundereggs from your website a while ago, they arrived from Canada safely but I have only just recently got around to opening them.
The first one was nice, but the second was incredible! My son called it a Galaxy Thunderegg because of the amazing colours running through it.
Thank you very much, I will definitely be getting more things from you in the future

The timing on this video is crazy I just got back from visiting my mom in Central Oregon for thanksgiving and ever since I was a little kid I’ve always been very excited about gold and rocks and pretty much everything your channel has covered ever since I’ve been subscribed for the last 3-4 years. But when i was out at my moms my stepdad was helping a close friend of theres with her estate after her husband sadly past a month or so ago. But my stepdad was helping get rid of a bunch of the husbands tools and trucks and he was told to do whatever he wants with the tools and in amongst all the tools where 2 big rock saws, 1 small rock saw ,a polishing wheel as well a few other machines, a big pile of uncut, rough slabs as well as an assortment of other cool rocks to slice as well as a fat stack of maps and different locations for different agate beds and petrified wood forest and all that good stuff as well as a place to hunt for lighting strikes within a 60ish mile? range and he was able to get it all for free just for helping out and being a good friend so we spent almost 2 full days setting up a work shop and slicing up all sorts of stuff from agates just like the ones in the video, some big veins of quarters and a bunch of other stuff we don’t know the names of but I just thought the timing was cool because as we where cutting and setting up i was telling them about your channel Idk I just thought that was cool. An ways always love the vids.
