No need to overlap the elastic.... just butt the ends together and do a wide 4 to 4.5 width and shorten the stich then sew down it. Then a 3 width stich in reverse all the way back where you started.. I've been doing this way for years and I have never had one fail. The results are a nice and smooth join.
Thank you so much for this I'm a 31 year old male and I have been making some of my own clothes for the last year now using templates and a 1935 sewing machine that my great great grand mother used and its a beast it weighs a ton its all metal and its basically a smaller version of a industrial machine for your house and I have been making simple stuff like plain colored t-shirts and a few polos and casual dress button downs and they look amazing and cnt tell the difference between mine and desugner name brands i already have stiching material and design wise. Thanks for this video I made my first pair of shorts and they look and feel amazing and i made my gf a pair of shorts using a womens shorts template and she loves them says its the most comfortable pair of shorts she ever owned for lounging around and jogging in.
😁😁! Thank you so much for your comment! It does help a lot! I totally agree about the music (too loud, too happy, and too repetitive if you ask me); this was my first sewing video ever; I did get some better tracks after this edit. Thanks again!
Wow thank you so much for this, super helpful and reassuring, as Im making this right now! 😍 Got a French Terry fabric, orange and black, with guitars, Jimi Hendrix and disc records as pattern 😎
Thank you very much =)!! Wow, that sounds amazing! It'll be awesome if you could share with us the final result once done. You can always post a picture when leaving a review on Etsy ;)! Thanks again!

@@krupaenterprises6853 Hi! Thanks for your comment. Let em answer your question: All patterns from us have a basic layout guide on how to place the pattern pieces onto the fabric.. All these videos start from that point on (once all pattern pieces are cut). Cutting the fabric is pretty standard once you know how to place the pattenr pieces on it. Thsi is what the guide helps you doing.
Please can you teach us on how to make the patterns because I live in Nigeria and getting the patterns here is a difficult....... but over all this is an amazing video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions =)! It helps us a lot! For now, I'm only focusing on sewing techniques, but in a near future, I might as well create a patternmaking channel (as I noticed it's been requested a few times already). Thanks again!!
I was going to sew some shorts for myself, I noticed that the pattern on your shop only goes up to XL, if I just expand the cuts a little bit will it accommodate someone of bigger size? Thank you. I will 100% come to this video when I start to see the shorts.
Hi! That is correct; this pattern is available up to size XL. Despite this, I can provide a guide on how to enlarge this pattern; It's quite simple and it can be done when cutting the fabric (just using some chalk).
Two questions: What kind of elastic did you use? What kind of stitch did you use when seeing the elastic into the waistband at 28:36? Great video by the way.
Hi! I’ve used here some cotton elastic. A polyester one can also be used. The stitch used at 28:36 is a basic lockstitch (the regular stitch from a home sewing machine).
Thank you for this video!! I purchased your pattern last summer & have made four pairs of shorts so far 😊 I am curious, however, is a 3-thread overlock better than a 4-thread when attaching the waistband to the shorts?
You re welcome! Wow =)!! It'll be awesome if you could share some pictures of the final result (you can actually do so in Etsy when leaving a review). Regarding your question; a 4-thread overlock has an extra seam over the 3-thread one. Because of that, the 4-thread's seam is more "secure". Despide that, both machines could be used to ensamble this whole piece..
Wow I love it. Already purchased a couple patterns from you😍😍😍 WILL YOU PLEASE MAKE MORE UNDERWEAR PATTERNS LIKE THONGS AND JOCKSTRAPS IN BIG SIZES UP TO 4XL
Hi! Generally speaking, this type of pant has a waist as wide as the hips plus some ease. Then, the elastic waistband is cut based on the body waist measurement minus a reduction, usually up to 25%. In addition, you should always check that the elastic stretches enough to be sewn properly.
Hi! Do you mean not to use the pockets? This design is as it is shown in the video; it has two front pockets. However, you may alter the pattern by removing them if you want to. Some pattern alteration knowledge will be needed, though. The overall pattern fit will still be OK.
Thank you! We are actually a PDF Sewing Patterns company. You can visit our shop at the following link: www.pdfpatternsboutique.com/ Regarding the main material used here; it is a cotton tracksuit fabric.
Hi! Thanks for your comment. Let me answer your question right away: using a serger is advised but not compulsory; any "stretch seam" or "fake serger" seam (all basic home machines have one) will do. Ultimately, a double lockstitch (sewing twice) will also be OK.
I'm sorry if I have this request and I know that you spent money and worked hard for these patterns, but to be honest, I live in Iran and because of sanctions, I can't use PayPal or any other company to buy patterns, and I wanted to request that If you can give me the patterns free of charge (again, I am ashamed to make this request 😔)

Are you using a serger to finish the edges of the pockets or an overcast stitch on regular machine with special foot?
Hi! I am using a serger (Janome 1110DX).

Hi! It can be found online as a "magnetic seam guide".

Thank you =)!

I just bought the pattern; What kind of Knit fabric did you use?
Hi! I've personally used here some cotton French Terry (jogging fabric).
I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
😂😁🧡!!!
What is the elastic band measurement ? Comparing the waistline of the short. I am a bit lost. Thanks in advance for replying.

Great video! I was wondering how much fabric should i get? For the M size is it better to buy 1m? Or 1,5m? :)
Hello! Thanks a lot for your comments! Let me answer your question: for an M size, I'd personally get 1,5 m just in case.
Nice.... what fabric is this?
Hi! Thanks! This is a cotton French Terry (also known as "jogging fabric".
Hi, I bought your pattern. How do I know it printed in the right size?
Hi! Thanks a lot! I will contact you right back with a basic printing guide.
What about if o dont want to break the patterns front/ back into 3 pieces? Would this pattern still work?

What’s the white thing you iron on before sewing the holes for the lace?
Hi! That is a non-woven fusible interfacing. It makes the fabric thicker so the buttonhole is sewn easier.
where did you get this fabric?
Hi! I got this one at a local store here in my city. I'd suggest you check Etsy; there are tons of fabric stores with worldwide shipping.
Sir, can we share your pattern? Awesome vlog. What kind of cloth is that?

That is correct; we do not offer free sewing patters.
Skip the cheesy music, and use voiceover or captions.

Nice video but please make it short and specific next time.
Thanks for your comments! I take all suggestions.
No it was rightly timed for beginners like me. Had it been shorter it would've been difficult to understand.
