Gutman needs to acknowledged the incompetence of Newsom and Bass. He lives in the area. Again the property overvaluation is not worth the cost of risk management. And he and the residents needs to vote these inept municipal managers out!
These failures are decades in the making. Bass, for example has been in office for two years. This drama about the fire department is BS. This isn't the first or the last fire department that has to deal with budget cuts. BTWz the firefighters actually got a raiseand new equipment was ordered.
California politicians collected 220 billion from taxes but couldn't spare 17 million for firefighting. California politicians contend that they need that 220 billion to fund their impoverished lifestyle and if the public wanted compitent firefighting, then the public needed to pay 220 billion AND 17 million in taxes.
People were already leaving California prior to this situation. It’s going to be more people leaving California moving to Texas, Florida and up east with the weather is not too bad and only people you have left migrants and illegal immigrants who most of them don’t pay taxes California is in bad shape right now. Let the exodus begin.
They didnt have pressure because they were missing 117 million gallons of water. Why was nowhere else overwhelmed? And if it was that, why the hell wouldn't you coordinate and only use some so you don't overwhelm the system. So then it becomes an execution problem. At the end of the day, it all leads to bad leadership because they are not prepared, and they are not spending enough on mitigating the fires, being prepared, infrastructure, innovation, education even for homeowners. There's always more you can do, but when leadership refuses to admit they are screwing up, nothing changes. That is why these people need to be held accountable. They don't want to change their ways, so then we need new leaders.
@@TrayMarrisJr true the winds did NOT help and caused so many structures fires-- BUT for Palisades the main reservoir IS empty (since 2/2024). Look up the short done by a reporter for "the free press". He videod it yesterday and it's empty. It wouldn't have saved everything but would have given them a fighting to chance to save more.

Why is Karen Bass the only Mayor under fire for this disaster? I agree she should be held accountable, but she's not the Mayor of LA county. Just food for thought.
Yes their are other Mayors. Pacific Palisades is governed by City of LA. That's where they pay taxes. Some of the surrounding towns/cities have informal governments that get City of LA services so she is taking on all of the brunt. More power, more problems, she should know the drill...you gotta be 120% better than most.

Grew up in Palisades, born in 1967. Gelsons used to be Mayfair market until the late 70"s. I used to walk with my mother to Mayfair throughout my childhood. Now I cannot even make that walk, left only with memories. This is awful beyond description.
I used to be "a volunteer firefighter" and I need tell you all that the Union fire department is a racket, they failed Los Angeles, they have struck out, they haven't saved anything. All they are doing is making a big fat paycheck.
Its incredible corruption. I wouldn't even trust their elections at this point. My Son wanted to give Hollywood a ahot. He worked hard and actually aquired his own small apartment. But he could barely make ends meet and couldn't keep up without 2 jobs. He finally broke down and moved back to Las Vegas at Thanksgiving. I got a scary preminition about LA and was so relieved that he moved. I am so devastated for everyone effected by this tragedy. It was not hard to foresee that something was going to give. The elected officials behave like celebrities and bleed the citizens dry as though they are subjects. They insist on controlling EVERYTHING they can get their greedy hands on. The sadest part is that it seems that only 25% of those who want to make real change to improve the peoples lives are left now with the recovery. God Bless our US City of Angels.
Where I live, we deal with a lot of tornados every year. And they can be devastating. No one can control their devastation or where they will touch down, etc. Same with hurricanes, earthquakes and others. Fires are different because there are many, many control factors that you can put in place that could prevent what we are seeing right now. Fires are one of the only “natural” disasters that can be managed, if handled properly. I pray for everyone and anyone that has been impacted by these fires.
Everyone in CA will pay a price because of the mismanagement by Newson and Bass. Not just fire, stores and houses got robbed, I'm afraid of walking on streets even during daytime.
The best explanation of the insurance issue is on the All In UA-cam video. These properties are literally uninsurable. The risks are too high. California is trying to force companies to due business where there is no upside and endless likelihood of disaster. Ultimately there is no Free Lunch.
I'm not sure how Trump is going to approach this, but I'm sure Hawaii and the hurricane victims are in line for help as well. They all got about $750 each and still have not fully recovered.

These failures are decades in the making. Bass, for example has been in office for two years. This drama about the fire department is BS. This isn't the first or the last fire department that has to deal with budget cuts. BTWz the firefighters actually got a raiseand new equipment was ordered.
He would never.
Do that never steven a knew exactly what he was going to talk about and what he was going to say.
California politicians collected 220 billion from taxes but couldn't spare 17 million for firefighting. California politicians contend that they need that 220 billion to fund their impoverished lifestyle and if the public wanted compitent firefighting, then the public needed to pay 220 billion AND 17 million in taxes.
They haven't left Trump alone since he came down the Escalator. Hesitant doesn't mean didn't either.
People were already leaving California prior to this situation. It’s going to be more people leaving California moving to Texas, Florida and up east with the weather is not too bad and only people you have left migrants and illegal immigrants who most of them don’t pay taxes California is in bad shape right now. Let the exodus begin.
1.3 million people have left California from 2020- 2024 which is way more than any other state. I’d imagine it’s going to be even more now
That's a very interesting hypothesis
Lies . There was more than enough water. The very strong winds were the problem here
@@TrayMarrisJr true the winds did NOT help and caused so many structures fires-- BUT for Palisades the main reservoir IS empty (since 2/2024). The water ran out so fast because in Palisades they were using 3 "back up" tanks that hold 1million gallons of water EACH (so only 3 million gallons available to the hydrants).
Look up the short done by a reporter for "the free press". He videod it yesterday and it's empty.
It wouldn't have saved everything but would have given them a fighting to chance to save more.
@@TrayMarrisJr ua-cam.com/users/shortsmBLMOe4-7YQ?si=ToTsVU0zLbba933S
@TrayMarrisJr that's rhe problem it was the winds no leadership would help at all it was just an unprecedented disaster
@melissabrodie1484
It was empty since it needed repairs, and competitive bidding government contracts ti repair it are as slow as they always are.
"No amount of water could have prevented this" ??? YES IT COULD!! Fires don't get a foothold if the area is wet. The water should have been used much earlier.
The winds made it un preventable to put the fires out , & no aircraft cus it was 100mph winds hurricane weather!!
@SandraArthur-xl7oq in some parts, yes. However, fire still does not take hold in damp conditions, so it was wrong to say "no amount of water..."
Getting information from Mainstream media on this is like looking for a legit response from Stephan A Smith on the topic of Diddy, Skip and Joy on ESPN 😅
It’s my opinion:
~ The Governor and Mayor should have been able to inform the people this way~
So if all that property value and equity is just gone could that trigger an economic collapse in LA? 250 billion is just gone
Plus property taxes which won't get paid, maybe ever again. The only reas9n even the Olympics might remain is that London hosted them in 1948.
Thank you Stephen A 🙏🏾 for speaking up on things that really matters 🙏🏾. I lost my MOMMY 2018. 🎉🎉and the 1 thing I'm SO GRATEFUL for is that she is not here to see this mess we are ENDURING. It would've been too unbearable 💔 for her so Amen 🙏🏾 Thank you Jesus and HALLELUJAH
I lost both parents. I was born out there. I agree with you.
@MrFreeride1113 Thanks, and I'm sincerely SORRY for your losses. Life ABSOLUTELY 💯 changes the way you look ✨️ at Life after maternal and paternal losses. Some things that used to matter don't even matter anymore
You can vote but if you’re a conservative it doesn’t matter, you’re outnumbered, but I don’t miss a vote even with that frustration!!
FEMA is out of money , remember that? 750.00 should rebuild your cities.
Love the content my men keep it up prayers for the familys. That are effective
So glad Mr Smith that finally there's a man willing to speak the truth as it is. So glad I've run into your channel.
Fox does and Newsmax is especially refreshing as well …..but Stephen A has changed since the election and become more balanced so I am now a fan
This is governor newson fault
Yeah he also cut fire budget by $100M, dumped fresh water, destroyed dams, and didn’t clean forest bed. Totally underprepared!
U cant control mother nation , i live in Pasadena never in the 40 years do i ever remember this type of 100mph winds, the blame game isn’t going to make it better
So true, pointing fingers at this juncture isn't gonna help these people. Excuses aside, what happens NOW?
He had to say it!! Climate Change. And I stopped listening.
A very impactful way of fighting wildfires is addressing the cause. I'm speaking to you gov Newsom. I used to always want to visit California. Now I avoid it like I would avoid a big steaming pile of Newsom!!
How is it possible that California taxes its citizens $.69 on every dollar for a gallon of gas…
Is that even possible?
So you mean, you paid $.31 a gallon and the rest is taxes
Yup! And owning a gas station is not even a lucrative business!
I can’t believe only $.31 on every dollar goes for gas….
This is way past the point of insanity
Sounds like he’s making excuses for an incompetent government and leadership !!!! What about PROACTIVE PREPAREDNESS ?!?!?!
This is sad. I lost everything in a house fire, too.
We're going to investigate ourselves😂😂😂
Just think if California politicians would have looked at the areas that the insurance company stopped ensuring they could’ve figured out there was a problem in those areas. The insurance companies did.
This. 💯
I love what you’re saying!!! Amen
These problems have been building for years (see past fires in California for example). Until Californians vote in people that will change that, which they won't, then expect more of this in the future. 🤷♂
Great job S.A.
This guy has Gavin hair but will try to ignore that and see the compassion
He 'Gutman' immediately lost me when he blamed climate change. Those people out there simply DO NOT live in reality.
Thank you for your coverage on this! Thanks to Matt also!
Karen Bass told Los Angeles CA that their going to rebuild, good one Karen!😂😂😂😂
It's not ravishing though our nations, its just California.
I’ve heard that fire officials are not allowed to say that a fire is started by the homeless.
As an Idahoian I just want yall Californians to remember Nevada is more fun and they won’t hate you
California Blue and then MAGA Red. It's a 'conflict' you know? LA is a left city! They love DEI and all that. They're left Stephen!
Stephen A. has said himself that he's registered as an "independent", described himself as "Left leaning socially, and Right leaning fiscally".
But people have been commenting that he seems to be slowly, ever so slowly red-pilling himself in the past 2-3 months...
Damn , we are listening and hearing out the news from a great Sports reporter instead of the actual news media 🤔. We believe and trust more in Stephen A. Smith than the other news. Let’s get our hands together for his podcast
Newsome and Karen are having a Salt party with alcohol and coffee right now 😂
They had way ahead of time to fix the problem... what were they thinking
Steven still votes blue… 🙄
Continued prayers
Thanks for the excellent job Stephen. Putting the leaders on the spot will definitely initiate the changes that desperately need to take place. Drastically changes need to happen immediately to safe our state.
hydrants were available- just low pressure- so valid- Mayor Bass is not responsible for any of this- Like she can predict multiple fires- Stop the blame game and move on-
Thank you Man ! For having the courage to speak to truth ! 👍
Urgent state of emergency please join me in prayer for all those affected families children animals firefighters massive fires in California they desperately need your prayers please pray for them God bless you all
Criminal Neglect
Incompetent Karen Bass and Newsome need to Resign Now.
That’s a lie what you said about trump
I can't even imagine what these fellow Americans are going through. Losing something as precious as your home, your haven, your place of peace and memories....
Bad leadership, Newsome and Bass need to Resign Now....
loved that Gelson's.
Great interview, SAS!
Excellent job Stephen A reporting the news outside of sports. 💯🙏🏾👍🏾
I agree.
Let me guess, you are now going to say racism right? Well to just end your BS let me point out Newsome is receiving plenty of criticism to. Trump is even being blamed and he hasn't been president for 4 years. Just stop. Keep your food for thought dude because no one wants to eat your BS nonsense. The blame is being put where it should.
Nope, it's not a race thing. I just believe everyone involved should be held accountable. EVERYBODY...
@scotthuffman-jf6fy, It's not a racism issue. It's holding all elected officials accountable. It's simple. That's food for thought.
This is a good video! This guy has said nothing but the truth!
Facts still remaim NO WATER in resevor NO water in hydrants.
Poor management only payment of high salary to them self.
I think insurance companies did their research for fire again in LA .. THEY were not impressed with work done in forested areas may be thats why they close FIRE INSUR?
Food for thought.
Why are you giving us an ABC spin? If we trusted them, we would watch their news
Exactly all I can say as a California native, there ways to cut corners save money by hiring a herd or f Goats , they can clear the brush , so why not that, there are always simple answers but politicians make it difficult smh!!
Prayers for LA we will bounce back in a big way!
Can’t handle this reporter making excuses for the inept authorities 😢
Great reporting Stephen A. 🙏 prayers for SoCal.
Newsome has an AIR think tank now.
Newsome has air in his head instead of thoughts. The hair gel has sunk in. 😂
8 months of rain but it’s Gavin’s fault?
Yes it is @@harrym9655
@@harrym9655 no dum dum, not cleaning up the ground of all the leaves, draining the reservoirs, defunding the fire dept ARE his fault!
@ It didn’t rain for 8 months.. There were 100 mile per hour winds.. All the forest management in the world would not make a difference.. Progressives warned people years ago climate change would have devastating impacts… Welcome to a world of volatile climate change.. The reporter debunked all of the street..
So glad I started following you...
Thank you Steph for telling the truth…
I understand that there's no water, but what about that foam that can be sprayed from the planes and drones?
Winds were 70-80 mph steady with gusts to 100. All planes were grounded.High winds grounded them a couple more times too.
Gotta Love this Man from sports to Full no boundaries reports
Those who live in the mountainoys areas affect by Hurricane Helene wonder if the dem govt ignored them because they live in red states
YUP! 💯 I made that same point several times this week!
Do not point fingers.Do not laid Blame. Do not Insult. Do not Lie! Just help out the best you can and you to SAS!!! Prayers to LA.🙏🏿
It’s a socialistic state, plain and simple.
3.16 coruption, they take money for themself 😂😂
Where I live, we deal with a lot of tornados every year. And they can be devastating. No one can control their devastation or where they will touch down, etc. Same with hurricanes, earthquakes and others. Fires are different because there are many, many control factors that you can put in place that could prevent what we are seeing right now. Fires are one of the only “natural” disasters that can be managed, if handled properly. I pray for everyone and anyone that has been impacted by these fires.
At least the report isn't pulling a David Muir with clothes pins tapering the fire jacket to show off his body. Smh
That was SO funny when I saw that clip!
Everyone in CA will pay a price because of the mismanagement by Newson and Bass. Not just fire, stores and houses got robbed, I'm afraid of walking on streets even during daytime.
The glasses look good on you SA 👍🏾
Have you heard anything about them sending fire trucks and equipment to Ukraine?
Deaths will rise when cadaver dogs can go in. Is there currently a way to report someone missing? I haven't heard?
You can find all those info online at “URL” -Mayor Bass (not a joke, she really said this)
Now, LA has a HUGE homeless problem! Existing homeless plus a shipload new homeless!
God bless all who is brave to speak the truth (and not trying to cover up for wrong doings) ….. thank you Steven and Matt
Matt?? Bro spent the entire time making excuses😂
And some of us in Helene’s aftermath still haven’t received the $750 we applied for 4 months out!
This reporter was trying to do his best to protect the politicians.
