I don't even have friends nor allow my kids to speak around me in such manner. So no Dr. Laura, I don't have a sense of humor when it comes to being disrespected by others. You do not go into a mixed marriage with out knowing at some time in your relationship, you may have to stand up for yourself and your spouse. It would be nice if that did not happen, but that is not the way life is.
She already decided she was going shut the woman down before the woman started speaking. It is the height of arrogance for ANYONE to assume they understand anyone else's experience that they live day to day. If you are not in a wheelchair do you understand what a wheelchair user goes through every? Of course not so listen. I mean really listen if you care. If you don't care don't have a spot on a radio program!
C'mon. There is a difference between using a word in a neutral sense, as an example, and in a pejorative, racist sense.
No, it is not, and the powers that be want you and me to believe that.
I hear that after he became sober, Richard Pryor noticed that a lot of young Black comics were using the n-word profusely; then he listened to some of his earlier work, and said "OMG, what have I done?" I don't even think African Americans should use the n-word; it just gives white people the chance to say - "Well, that's what they call each other." I never use the n-word unless I'm quoting someone. Why? Because whenever that word is said in my presence, it's like a punch in the gut. I want the listener to experience my story viscerally, not just intellectually.
The first two things Dr. Laura did.
1) The caller says that her husband's friends say, "How do you Black people like doing this and do Black people like doing that?" Using the words 'you Black people' in that question is already questionable. But lets give the benefit of the doubt and say the caller brought up a situation that is difficult to judge as racist or not unless you personally witness the situation and perhaps have context. Why is Dr. Laura ASSUMING that there is no racism when there is insufficient information to draw such a conclusion? You'd have to have a pretty strong bias on what you think Black people are like in order to do that.
2) Where in the hell did that Obama comment come from? One second Dr. Laura is saying that she didn't think the comments were racist and the next she's saying that "without giving it much thought a lot of Black people voted for Obama just because he's Black." What does one have to do with the other? Why did she go from one to the other in a split second? All of a sudden she's throwing Obama at the caller? Was it educational for the lady? No. Was it relevant to the discussion? No. So what bias made her think that the motivation behind the voting choices of Black individuals was appropriate or relevant to discuss at that time.
Further add: Undoubtedly there were at least some Black individuals who voted for Obama only because he was Black. But there are always going to be some individuals of any voting demographic that don't make well-thought-out choices. But to say that 'a lot' of them made their choices based exclusively on skin color? How does she know? Was there a survey to back up her claim? Again, I ask what bias led her to say these things since she had no evidence?
One more thing: This has nothing to do with Dr. Laura herself. But iIt always surprises me how many people seem to miss the complete irrelevance of the Obama comment just because they agree with it. Whether you agree with it or not, you should at least have noticed that it was out of place.
Anyway, this is only from the first 15 seconds of her answer to the lady's question and is just the tip of the iceberg.

Notice how he lies @ 3:38 by quoting Dr Laura as having said, "ALL black people voted for Obama because he's half black", when she actually said "A LOT of black people..."
At 8:50 he re-phrases his lie even more offensively by quoting Dr. Laura as having said, "ALL YOU BLACK PEOPLE voted for Obama because he's black".
You see, on the far left it's considered perfectly acceptable to lie as long as it's considered "For The Greater Good".

Definition of racism. 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination.
So based on this, I would have to say that you are most definitely correct! She isn't asserting that whites are better than blacks but I am torn about the "primary determinant of human traits" like the whole blacks playing basketball thing. I don't know. One thing I think we all can agree on; This Laura-person is certainly no doctor I'd ever go to and also, she is the one who needs to RECEIVE therapy, not be GIVING it!

When a black person calls another person the N word it's like saying hey my fellow black person of African descent, whether it's meant as a term of endearment or derogatory. Some black people can get away with saying it to one another, others hate it. Now that being said, how does a non black person with no African ancestry fit into using the N word? there's no way of justifying it whatsoever.
The One thing not being talked about in this video or the comments is that black women get with these white guys and they talk shit about them behind their backs. I like his personality and but I heard mixed things especially from doctors who hated Obamacare and said their earnings went down and they had to see 30 clients instead of 20 to make the same money . Dr L was makes some pointed generalizations about people whose skin color is black. Making generalizations about a whole group of people is stereotyping...Stereotyping is dangerous because it can easily lead to prejudice & discrimination.
Also, it's more worrisome when an individual who is seen in a position of trust & authority like a "Doctor", like Dr L says the type of things she said in this video....it's concerning b/c she's has a huge following of people that listen to her, turn to her for advice, and give credence to what she says...what she says in this video doesn't bring people together...it doesn't encourage tolerance. A loving, tolerant, and cohesive society is what we should all be striving to create.

I get one of her points. (not the voting thing as she can't prove that) I have often thought that the "n" word should not be used by anyone. Regardless of color. It is derogatory. There are a lot of other words that should not be used either that are offensive to other ethnic backgrounds/religions. Why can't we just be civil? I myself am Italian and am not sensitive to the pejorative slur against Italians (the "w" word), but know that it's wrong and think that people who use it have issues. Maybe they feel small and want to make themselves feel more important than you. That really says a lot about them. I don't want to be like them and I don't admire them. When black people use it amongst each other, they mean it in a different way such as we are all in the same club, but the fact is that this perpetuates the contempt that some people have about races/religions that are different than their own. It needs to stop. It's regressive instead of progressive.
I hear it in comics and also on youtube. One example is Auntie Fee. Movies too. In any case, I wish it would go away. Regardless of where it originated from, these days, it is derogatory. That is why it is best if it goes away.

Please list the key pieces? What is missing? It's clear that the "Doctor" is extremely close-minded. You cannot host a show giving advice to people and be so judgmental. If someone comes to you with a problem, you can start off by assuming their in the wrong. That's a terrible excuse of help. Race is a living breathing issue. The media keeps hyping it up and it's harming societies ability to grow.
