Great video but one important thing you missed was a major portion of why axes are better than swords in 1.9 is because armor provides less damage reduction the harder hitting an attack is, which is a major portion of why axes are used more often, not just the attack cooldowns itself.

@@TheMisterEpic also, 1.11 change the meta with sheild. Before 1.11 is only 66.66666...% damage reduction. (People only sheild when people are shooting or they are charging their weapon) So people are trying to attack before using their sheild. After 1.11 it block 100% of the damage, so people started to sheild before trying to hit their opponent.
The armour was also too weak. A few lucky axe crits and your opponent will be on 2 hearts. If the armour had prot2 or something the kit would last longer so you’d see more planned pvp rather than the “crit trade and hope” we saw. The 1.16 duels were sad to watch, the 1.8 duels were entertaining though because it lasted longer so luck played less of a factor

Camera reach is radial, you can't hit the top of his head if you're too high for how far your opponent is (eye level is equal). But your own hitbox extends to your legs where the opponents lower camera reach can strike (it's eye level with your legs).

Dream actually had a lot of previous knowledge of 1.8 pvp since way before the duel, he didn't actually have to learn that much, whereas 1.9 pvp was completely alien to techno

I think that Techno would be average or maybe above in speed running sense. But dream has a Large lead in this. Dream has a much larger advantage since this is his home turf. Though it would be Fun to see Technoblade in a Man Hunt.
It would end up with an ocean duel like what happened with Illumina. I don't even know why Illumina decided to face dream (and even built a house) head on instead of finishing the game in one round though.
Nah its a tie Dream also has records in speed running and iq in the Minecraft manhunt, where he beats the game with 3 people hunting him. on reddit, dream made a reply to a thread where he stated that he used to play 1.8 pvp a lot and even used to be co-owner to a couple of 1.8 pvp servers. So while he may be pretty rusty on 1.8 pvp, he's not exactly learning it from scratch either. wispexe (a skilled uhc player) also posted a vid where he dueled dream before the 100k match; he said that it almost felt like he was fighting stimpy. so i think dream reviewed 1.8 pvp very successfuly and managed to recover his previous skill-level at it, dream just wasn't ready for the crafting table tactic.
The real question is: why do so many people expect dream to won when techno has gotten 1400 hundred bedwars win, master division in ranked skywars might not be a good evidence of him being better since people are bad back then. But he got #2 in skywars tournament.

Techno is just better, its a fact, Dream does good in his manhunts because he takes advantage of environments with block, he has never managed to even 1v2 the hunters when they both have gear and when Dream does not have lava on him. Dream's statement that he is not known for pvp is false, but despite that Dream is not really great at straight up pvp in an arena. I would love to see a manhunt between Techno and Dream though, probably both switching versions and sides. Dream said he has never beaten Minecraft in 1.8 so that will be cool. Edit: Btw keep in mind I am a Dream fan (but not stan!)

If 1.8 then well the guy hasn't tryharded that version in a while so naturally it is going to be that way, regardless he still did decent against Techno in it. If 1.9, then he is among the best at that version. I am not going to straight up claim he is the best because there are probably alot of 1.9 mega sweats that are unknown but he is way above average. Btw, I am a very big fan of Dream but please don't take it as me blindly defending him because these genuinely are my thoughts and opinions. I don't mean to argue, just have a civil debate. :)
Dream is better at 1.16 combat. He even won 3-2 in the fight, and then recently he fought 23 other youtubers and 6-0d every single one except Fruitberries who he still beat 6-2. Dream definitely has the advantage in 1.16. The reason techno won the dual though is because they alternated versions. Techno was always going to win 1.8. Dream was always going to win 1.16. But Techno was more dominant in 1.8 than Dream was in 1.16 due to 1.16 combat being easier to learn. So Techno won 1.8 combat 4-1, but Dream only managed to win 1.16 3-2. Thus Techno winning overall 6-4. Also, manhunts probably wouldnt be that interesting in 1.8. The main reason is the slower health regen and no shields. Those are INCREDIBLY important to allow more survivability so that Dream can escape easier. Without them, he will easily just get cornered and chipped away until he dies. Manhunts strongly favor the hunter due to them having infinite lives and not having to worry about gathering necessary end game resources to get to the end. Since they can just focus on killing the speedrunner even once, they have a major advantage. So not having that extra regen or shield makes it much much harder for the speedrunner. Likely a manhunt in 1.8 would always just end before getting to the end. (ESPECIALLY since enderpearls are much harder to get in 1.8, so it takes longer to get the resources to get to the end as well, also increasing the difficulty, and less enchantments, and loot spawning areas also allows for less variability with potential enchanted loot or gear. Something like getting the frost walker boots that happened in the most recent 4 v 1 manhunt could never happen in 1.8) Thats why the manhunts are always on latest version. Has the most tools to allow the speedrunner to be creative.
@@rizwana939 Techno's version does not really have a skill limit and has a huge skill gap whereas Dream's version contains a very little skill gap between top and bottom. Techno could easily win 1v2 in a box against 2 average players, Dream will struggle and most likely lose. 1.9+ pvp just does not have a ridiclous maximum mastery that any one player could achieve and be invincible to all average players.

I really like your video! It provides observation about the skills shown rather than what many ytbers do which is just the amount of training techno and dream did. I want to add on that I think that techno actually has a better understanding of the environment (at least in its barebones definition) whereas dream understands item usage a lot better. Techno played on servers where there is land, void, walls, stairs, trees, etc. where he'll position himself for the best way to attack the player in his current environment. However, he doesn't bend as much of the environment (in its barebones way) aside from blocks being placed to hit/defend in the current environment from another player. Thus, he cares about getting the most damage from his surroundings. Dream i feel uses the items at hand better, and times it when it is appropiate to use it. He plans ahead to ensure he gets the most out of his items. He cares about the environment, sure, but it seems he cares about getting the maximum usage from his items at the best time possible rather than focusing on the minute details in the environment. Thus, he puts more thought about getting the best items that deal the most pivotal attack/defense to win. This translates to the fight, as techno used his current environment without changing/bending it, and utilizing its barebones function to attack dream, while dream knew when it was best to use crossbows/axes/shields. However, because both players had the exact items (aside from number of arrows when attacking) dream had a harder time using the same items over and over in an seemingly unchanging "flat" environment--he can only do so much of the most pivotal attacks with the same items without the other player learning the strats and winning over him (ie when techno commented about axe crits). While there's no void, techno knows about more minute changes in the environment like height advantages, pillars, etc. and he can run to to bait dream. Hence, the lack of differing items wasn't a concern for him, which could have given him the upper hand.
Of course, this is all speculation on my end, others can expand/critize my thoughts as well. I hope that my comment makes sense as to what i am referring to. Anyhow, hope to see future vids from you!
Honestly, I do agree with your point. As a Dream fan, I do accept the fact that Dream lost and I'm not surprised because like you just explained, Dream was literally being reckless in most of the rounds, which is why I know Technoblade you definitely have the advantage over him most of the time. I did thought Dream was gonna win at first, but then again, he didn't. I also agree with your explanation on how each of them play. I do remember being like "Why don't you heal Dream?" When I saw the video at first. Meanwhile, Technoblade is actually cautious and although I didn't know why he was *that* cautious, I'm glad that you made a good enough explanation on why he's like that. Overall, I'd say Dream and Techno is still good at different things. Dream may have lost the duel, but that doesn't mean he's worse or better than Technoblade. They both have their own skills.
I love how everyone says that Dream is the best MC player. THAT ISNT TRUE OR POSSIBLE! MC is a game with multiple and i mean MULTIPLE branches. For example: PvP Redstone Building Parkour etc. So unless youre the best in ALL the MC branches, youre officially the best MC player. But that wont be happening anytime soon
I think someone who can master all of that exists tho, it's just that either he played in a small unrecognized server, just playing the game for fun not for fame or something, or stopped playing minecraft entirely.

Blocking your sword in 1.8 also block your sprint, so u have to sprint again and so dealing more knockback. This is also why technoblade made better combos
The reason Technoblade won was because he shifted his camera a couple frames to the left. He knew this would cause a butterfly effect that would cause Dream to lose focus and thus guaranteeing the win for Technoblade
@William Honestly at this point, its starting to get annoying. Half the comments are about how toxic Dream fans are with none in sight. This happens on like every Techno vs Dream video out there. People are really over-exaggerating how many toxic fans there are out there, but people keep complaining like its half of his fanbase or something.
@William Just went and skimmed every comment made in the last 6-7 days. Didnt see any Dream fans being super toxic. I did however see a bunch more comments complaining about Dream fans and how theyre always toxic. I saw a VERY FEW who you MIGHT be able to argue are a little salty or upset, but not really toxic by any means, and if you're going to call these people toxic, then there were WAY more toxic comments from Technoblade fans. I even saw a few calling dream fans retarded which is far more toxic than anything I saw from a Dream fan. Good video! The only thing that you got wrong in my opinion was saying that 1.9 PvP is easier to learn. In my opinion, 1.9 is harder to learn than 1.8 but easier to master. (Almost every new player spam clicks even though it does barely any damage.)
Imo 1.9 is quite easy to learn and well spam clicking on 1.8 doesn't seem difficult but so much strategy and different things you can learn like block hitting, I'd say 1.8 is harder.

So while he may be pretty rusty on 1.8 pvp, he's not exactly learning it from scratch either. wispexe (a skilled uhc player) also posted a vid where he dueled dream before the 100k match; he said that it almost felt like he was fighting stimpy. so i think dream reviewed 1.8 pvp very successfuly and managed to recover his previous skill-level at it, dream just wasn't ready for the crafting table tactic.

Techno is just better, its a fact, Dream does good in his manhunts because he takes advantage of environments with block, he has never managed to even 1v2 the hunters when they both have gear and when Dream does not have lava on him. Dream's statement that he is not known for pvp is false, but despite that Dream is not really great at straight up pvp in an arena.
I would love to see a manhunt between Techno and Dream though, probably both switching versions and sides. Dream said he has never beaten Minecraft in 1.8 so that will be cool.

If 1.8 then well the guy hasn't tryharded that version in a while so naturally it is going to be that way, regardless he still did decent against Techno in it. If 1.9, then he is among the best at that version. I am not going to straight up claim he is the best because there are probably alot of 1.9 mega sweats that are unknown but he is way above average.
Btw, I am a very big fan of Dream but please don't take it as me blindly defending him because these genuinely are my thoughts and opinions. I don't mean to argue, just have a civil debate. :)
Dream is better at 1.16 combat. He even won 3-2 in the fight, and then recently he fought 23 other youtubers and 6-0d every single one except Fruitberries who he still beat 6-2.
Dream definitely has the advantage in 1.16.
The reason techno won the dual though is because they alternated versions.
Techno was always going to win 1.8.
Dream was always going to win 1.16.
But Techno was more dominant in 1.8 than Dream was in 1.16 due to 1.16 combat being easier to learn.
So Techno won 1.8 combat 4-1, but Dream only managed to win 1.16 3-2. Thus Techno winning overall 6-4.
Also, manhunts probably wouldnt be that interesting in 1.8. The main reason is the slower health regen and no shields. Those are INCREDIBLY important to allow more survivability so that Dream can escape easier. Without them, he will easily just get cornered and chipped away until he dies. Manhunts strongly favor the hunter due to them having infinite lives and not having to worry about gathering necessary end game resources to get to the end. Since they can just focus on killing the speedrunner even once, they have a major advantage. So not having that extra regen or shield makes it much much harder for the speedrunner. Likely a manhunt in 1.8 would always just end before getting to the end. (ESPECIALLY since enderpearls are much harder to get in 1.8, so it takes longer to get the resources to get to the end as well, also increasing the difficulty, and less enchantments, and loot spawning areas also allows for less variability with potential enchanted loot or gear. Something like getting the frost walker boots that happened in the most recent 4 v 1 manhunt could never happen in 1.8) Thats why the manhunts are always on latest version. Has the most tools to allow the speedrunner to be creative.

Techno could easily win 1v2 in a box against 2 average players, Dream will struggle and most likely lose. 1.9+ pvp just does not have a ridiclous maximum mastery that any one player could achieve and be invincible to all average players.

I really like your video! It provides observation about the skills shown rather than what many ytbers do which is just the amount of training techno and dream did. I want to add on that I think that techno actually has a better understanding of the environment (at least in its barebones definition) whereas dream understands item usage a lot better. Techno played on servers where there is land, void, walls, stairs, trees, etc. where he'll position himself for the best way to attack the player in his current environment. However, he doesn't bend as much of the environment (in its barebones way) aside from blocks being placed to hit/defend in the current environment from another player. Thus, he cares about getting the most damage from his surroundings. Dream i feel uses the items at hand better, and times it when it is appropiate to use it. He plans ahead to ensure he gets the most out of his items. He cares about the environment, sure, but it seems he cares about getting the maximum usage from his items at the best time possible rather than focusing on the minute details in the environment. Thus, he puts more thought about getting the best items that deal the most pivotal attack/defense to win. This translates to the fight, as techno used his current environment without changing/bending it, and utilizing its barebones function to attack dream, while dream knew when it was best to use crossbows/axes/shields. However, because both players had the exact items (aside from number of arrows when attacking) dream had a harder time using the same items over and over in an seemingly unchanging "flat" environment--he can only do so much of the most pivotal attacks with the same items without the other player learning the strats and winning over him (ie when techno commented about axe crits). While there's no void, techno knows about more minute changes in the environment like height advantages, pillars, etc. and he can run to to bait dream. Hence, the lack of differing items wasn't a concern for him, which could have given him the upper hand.
Of course, this is all speculation on my end, others can expand/critize my thoughts as well. I hope that my comment makes sense as to what i am referring to. Anyhow, hope to see future vids from you!

Honestly, I do agree with your point. As a Dream fan, I do accept the fact that Dream lost and I'm not surprised because like you just explained, Dream was literally being reckless in most of the rounds, which is why I know Technoblade you definitely have the advantage over him most of the time. I did thought Dream was gonna win at first, but then again, he didn't.
I also agree with your explanation on how each of them play. I do remember being like "Why don't you heal Dream?" When I saw the video at first. Meanwhile, Technoblade is actually cautious and although I didn't know why he was *that* cautious, I'm glad that you made a good enough explanation on why he's like that.
Overall, I'd say Dream and Techno is still good at different things. Dream may have lost the duel, but that doesn't mean he's worse or better than Technoblade. They both have their own skills.

@William Honestly at this point, its starting to get annoying. Half the comments are about how toxic Dream fans are with none in sight. This happens on like every Techno vs Dream video out there.
People are really over-exaggerating how many toxic fans there are out there, but people keep complaining like its half of his fanbase or something.

Good video! The only thing that you got wrong in my opinion was saying that 1.9 PvP is easier to learn. In my opinion, 1.9 is harder to learn than 1.8 but easier to master. (Almost every new player spam clicks even though it does barely any damage.)
Imo 1.9 is quite easy to learn and well spam clicking on 1.8 doesn't seem difficult but so much strategy and different things you can learn like block hitting, I'd say 1.8 is harder.
