These are some of the Greatest musicians ever! It's an acquired taste for sure but it's well worth putting in the effort to follow along. You can listen to the same song on 20 different occasions and catch something different each time. It's so much better than a repeating riff throughout the whole song, that shit becomes like Chinese water torture. Example: "it takes two to make a thing go right" sure there's a place for that, just like there's a place for McDonald's and a place for Ruth's Chris.
I remember waiting for this video to premier on MTV. Kevin Moore one of the original band members was my ex husband cousin. Loved every song on this cassette. They have come a long way since then.
Even Pull Me Under is quite lackluster compared to say.. Under a Glass Moon for example which also shows off more of Petrucci's talent. Side note.. the drummer in this period is Mike Portnoy, fully one of the best metal drummers out there. Progressive thrash is quite a good description although especially for their album train of thought. If you listen to the song "as I am" you'll see what I mean.
Dream Theater is one of my all-time favorite bands and "Pull Me Under" is pretty high up on my list of favorite songs by them. I definitely think you should take a deeper dive into these guys if you can. There's a lot of great music to be found! I see a lot of song suggestions from their older catalogue, but if you want to check out some of their newer songs, I'd suggest "At Wits End", "Pale Blue Dot", "The Alien", or "Barstool Warrior"
Dream Theatre's best work is Metropolis part 2: Scenes From A Memory. The whole album is obviously essential, but Home and The Spirit Carries On both stand out in my mind.

Yes YES 1000x !!!! I’ve been waiting for you to do pull me under, for forever !!! Pure 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🤘💜
you totally have to check Symphony X as well
Wow! I've never heard Dream Theatre before but I loved this song!!! Epic!!
Images and Words is a great album and you should listen to the whole thing sometime at least once for yourself!
This song is legitimately one of my all time favorites!!! It hit so freaking hard!!!
Love it!! Please check out more DT songs, I think you’ll have a real journey with their discography
Portnoy*
@@ttuclarinet Good catch, I didn't notice the auto correct
@@iamacharliest No problem! Damn autocorrect!
I'm glad you gave them the opportunity they deserve. The song is a beauty!
I just listened to this song on my way home from work and was wondering if Alex would ever react to it and I'm glad he is.
your friend:
You can tell this is some quality production
Portnoy:
I fucking hated the snare sound on Images and Words
That face melting at 9:46 was priceless, welcome to the Dream Theater world
Dream Theatre's best work is Metropolis part 2: Scenes From A Memory. The whole album is obviously essential, but Home and The Spirit Carries On both stand out in my mind.
Home is the bomb.
One concert I'll never forget seeing Dreamtheater in Seattle at the Paramount theater images and words tour in 93 absolutely blown away Galactic Cowboys were back up Seeing Dreamtheater for the first time was memories of seeing Rush for the first time in Victoria BC in 77 Farewell to kings tour dam time flies
Hello. Love your Channel. We love Dream Theater and remember it from when it first came out. AWESOME band! You have to do Dream Theater = CAUGHT IN A WEB! You will lose your mind!
This was the song that got me into Dream Theater back in 1994 (and the album was already 2 years old) but Dream Theater kept me a fan of Dream Theater all the way to current day.
No way!!! You did a reaction to Dream Theater!! My dad got me into them when I was a kid. I've been hooked ever since.
Metropolis Part 1 and 2 are my favorite songs from DT. You might want to do Part 2 as a series since its a whole album and its amazing. Same with 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence Its a 42 min long song that split in 6 parts. Glad you got to hear some Dream Theater.
Alex finally man!!! These guys been around for 25 years and counting lol. You seriously need to go down the DT rabbit hole. Can't wait to see more reactions to them. Also don't forget to check out CASKETS too bro you will love em!!
It's always great watching you have these first reactions to music that I grew up on. Loving this dream theater song as much as you guys did, I think another special treat for both of you would be too particular songs if you haven't heard them already. One of them being Shotgun Messiah ~ "Heartbreak Boulevard" and the other being Savotage ~ "Gutter ballet"
I just found your channel and I love your reaction vids, I'm seeing Dream Theater tonight! Others have mentioned some great songs to check out but I'll just hop on board with "Under A Glass Moon", "Metropolis Part 1" (and then it's subsequent "Part 2" that's actually an entire concept album and epic af... especially "The Dance of Eternity" and "Fatal Tragedy", and "Home" (some Tool vibes there), "The Count of Tuscany", "Constant Motion" (which is much more similar to Metallica than "Pull Me Under"), "Panic Attack"... there are so many others! Enjoy the rabbit hole :)
I had this group on cassette tape, wow.
You know right now you can get tickets to one of their shows because they're touring.
I love that you guys are so much into this song! Hoping that you will go down the Dream Theater rabbit hole =)
I got to see these guys at a waterpark outside El Paso on this tour nearly 30 years ago. Amazing band
Breaking All Illusions OR Bridges In The Sky!
Take a look at the Count Of Tuscany, imo it is their best work.
The drummer was the drum instructor at Berkley College of Music.
1:13 this will be fixed in a second... 4:03 covers him completely 😂
Damn memories right there, Head Bangers Ball MTV Saturday nights! This song was a ride!
Alex, check out O’keefe music foundation’s kids covering this song. Amazing!!
Lol, I love how the glasses dude trying hard to synchronize his headbang with a lot of time signature changing.
7:05 "Never touch another man's space bar, maaan!!!" - Chris Tucker voice
Finally !! You should check more of their stuff
The drummer is god in earth and the guitarrist is another
Been waiting for this for years!!
I’ve been waiting for so long for you to react to my favorite band of all time. Their catalog is massive and you’ll just keep finding new stuff that you didn’t find before. I’m so glad you started with this. Maybe try dance of eternity next. It’s a instrumental song but an amazing one.
A nightmare to remember. I just want more people to hear the geniusness and power in the song.
Love your friend's reaction to this....Also I liked how he reacted to Ghost. May be bring him back for more.
Also, please react to Bloodywood's new track -Aaj
You can already tell that's a NICE RICH PRODUCTION QUALITY...
And that's all he had to say BAM!!!
👊🔥🤘✌️
That opening clean guitar riff is just timeless,man...Pure magic. The band isn't even playing at that point and it just takes you away immediately.
They just won a Grammy for "The Alien", likely one of their most technical songs. Check that one out if you want to hear some of their heavier, crazy time signature stuff.
At first I thought the comment was crazy about the version of this song being slower. I wonder if I would have ever noticed? My brain cells finally caught up and I realized as I heard more that you're right..been jamming to it for years since it debuted on our rock station..
3,5 hour long concert from DT ! I keep going to them when they come to Europe! :) And I enjoy every moment of it! :)
