    That crazy Hutton guy should have his own show just terrorizing cities and nobody can restrain him. Can’t stand it when writers try to make regular hard working people act like clowns. You clearly don't know how to write, since you don't use punctuation. Further more you need a hothead character in TV shows and films, makes it more interesting but with that being said you have to remember that this isn't their first day working together (theoretically) because if you noticed Magnus (OIM) says they are a "1 family" and family don't strap each down to a frame or bed or a post for that matter, especially when 2 of their own people died within same day, you might be saying this out of the fact you haven't watched all of the show and I can get you're lack of basic understanding since I'm guessing you don't write many books or movies scripts? Exactly so before you start dropping this and that without knowing all of it I suggest you sit back down (probably already are) #angrylittlemanchild who has crap on everything else because he doesn't like one person 😂 grow up dude qnd leave you're opinions to yourself if you going to say nothing nice, alright buddy ol'e pal 👌

    Main take away from this story: nature can't be trusted and will kill you if you let it. This show was Al Gore's wet dream seeing humans punished for the sin of trying to extract resources from the earth.

    Not a fan of the ending. Cliff hangers are good some times; but this was such a giant cliff hanger for a series that might never get a 2nd season.

    The one question I would like answered if there is a season 2 is why for the previous extinction? If they did cause the other extinctions occur, does that humans weren’t the only species that caused harm to them, then who did the previous harm? I think the show opened a can of worms that humans weren’t the only intelligent species in the past or the spores are really angry species that kills anything that accidents steps on their “toes”, which then means we all freaked before even the show begins

    The acting was great this first season. Environmental movies were always great fodder for sci-fi audiences the first several hundred that came out from the 80’s til present. The plot is so predictable there is little surprise there. The dialogue is also lock step with other environmental movies. With interest in environmental issues now declining on the list of concerns by people in general, this actually got a little boring. The sacrifice thing made no sense at all. The psycho-self examinations was interesting and helped build the characters. But little else. If there is a season 2, which probably won’t happen, but if it does they need to return to old sci-fi themes: science fights evil monsters. Drop the environmental theme. It’s time for a good Star Trek or Star Wars movie to come out. Perhaps another alien invasion movie. We are getting tired of politically themed movies invading the Sci-fi genre.

    1: The Rigs are all called Kinloch followed by a phonetic name. The COMPANY is called Pictor

    Being a fan of "Dark" and "1899", "The Rig" was a valiant attempt by Amazon to mimic Netflix's "Dark" and "1899". The international/sci-fi/mystery/drama is really catching on but the characters on The Rig are surprisingly flat and even though the plot is pretty good and has potential, the execution keeps showing how they used these 2 shows as a reference for what they wanted to achieve. The "Woke" messaging takes away from the plot and character development and in all I stopped watching it after episode 4... its a bit unbearable really when "save earth, oil bad, thus spore apocalypse" also a rant on covid on the show... like bitch, I am watching a sci-fi show to escape! Why are you bringing up Covid!

My thoughts are if the "aliens" as you call them were here a billion years ago, wouldn't humans be the alien life?? Even if the spores created life on the planet? Just asking. • @MaterLacrymarum
    @MaterLacrymarum Рік тому +5

    This show was terrible. Really really bad. It's super obvious they had a 90 minute story and chose to tell it in 6 hours. This is clear by the repeated scenes, the endless wandering about the rig, and the odd plot point they toss in for no good reason. The CGI is circa year 2000, it never looks convincing, and if you haven't seen the wave in the last episode then you're in a nice cheesy treat.
    Some of the acting is also subpar, to say the least. The main culprit is Emily Hampshire who is so wooden she could have just floated away from from the rig. The accent comes and goes, some times she seems bored, and what's with the red lipstick? Truly strange. As for her romantic connection, it's colder than the poles.
    The "threat" consists of some fog, pollen, and leaves. That's it. Occasionally they throw in the rig shaking, which is achieved, I'd guess, by the special effects people from Dr. Who circa 1970. Still, you never get any real tension because mostly the danger comes from confusing dreams that are quick cut like a music video.
    The number of times someone has to urgently go to another part of the rig - a part someone else had to urgently go a few scenes before - is mind-boggling. People are wandering about all over the place in an attempt to create peril, peril that never materializes. People go up and down stairs, walk on to the heliport and then off again, down to the level closest the sea over and over. Yet you never get a feel for a real place (the CGI is truly not helping here).
    Finally, there is a token gay couple (women) show-horned in. Except they needed someone to be pregnant for a total non-event of an encounter which has no consequence, so they used one of the women for that part. Later, and again for no good reason whatsoever - and moving the plot nowhere - they out another gay couple (men). This has zero impact on the story, no drama attached, and is basically never discussed again after they took the time to script it. It's the worst kind of box checking. I've nothing against diversity in shows, but surely it needs some context?
    All in all, this show was completely horrible and honestly might work best as a sleep aid. They packed more in the first episode than they did the next five. Even saying that, this might have worked as a 90 minute movie on the syfy channel, but just about everything else lets it down. This is bad.

    The most unbelievable oil rig crew ever known, the usual tired tropes of corporations are bad and we are killing the planet, nonsensical lines and plot holes, unbelievable crew reactions to events, Lars. He assaults someone, smashes the med bay and has to be locked up. He then escapes and causes more chaos. So instead of locking him somewhere more secure they just seem to forget about it and leave him to roam free.
    They never seem to wear hardhats outside much unlike real life where its required, and hey why wear gloves when you are wearing a face mask in a strange toxic environment? lol.
