    I am grateful for a review by someone I trust. After watching someone else's video, I snarled that my old Paasche VL1 could do thinner lines. After seeing your work, I realize that the problem was with the painter, not the gun. It appears that the Evo is twice the price of the Mobius. The Evo may be the better brush -- but is it TWICE as good? Incidentally, some of us would describe you as an "artist," not a "custom painter." Use whatever term you like, of course -- but "artist" is an honorable job description.

    i really like mine, makes the ace 98 feel not ace like, so the 98 been relegated to primer/base coat duty. I agree with your points, trigger is way better, still room for improvement/preference. I'm purely a lacquer/enamel guy so my needs aren't as demanding as artists but always good to hear from a different pov to learn. I love how easy they are to clean. They're great brushes for my model needs.

    After I got the H&S Ultra 2024 (which isnt that cheap, but is really budget relative to its flawless quality), my next budget budget detail airbrush would be a 0.28 setup and hopefuly a 2ml cup for the Ultra '24 the moment these become available.
    I think even top notch chinese brushes cant compete with that. There might be still a difference in entry price, but the differences in longivity, flexibility, easy availability of spare parts and just overall build quality is just so much bigger relative to that small price difference.
    I wish Ghaaleri luck and a bright future with their products, but they make it so clear to me what H&S did with the Ultra '24.

    • @joek600
      @joek600 7 місяців тому

      I agree, I dont need a new airbrush right now, I have an Eclipse, an Iwata HPC+ , a Mr Hobby whateverstupidnameithas 0.2 and a Vega 2000 (aka the dog of war). But if i had to pick an airbrush today, I would go with H&S. This Gaahleri looks nice, it does look like they put some real effort and they want to really get a place in the market.
      Ι understand that there is a cost bottom line that after you cross it ,you enter into the zone of crappy products. If they managed to market this at around 50 euros, I think that everyone would buy one just out of curiosity. Obviously its impossible to do it and maintain certain standards. I do believe that the real cost of an airbrush is somewhere bellow 100 euros and the rest is branding/marketing related added costs. But the market is not big enough.

    Interesting and informative review thank you. Mine arrived today and I've thoroughly looked it over with a strong magnifier; It's perfectly machined and the trigger is as good as any I've tried. I wasn't expecting that. As soon as I held it, I knew this was going to be the airbrush for me. I really feel it's performing way above it's price. In fact I'm probably going to love it more than my Iwata airbrushes. They've either fixed the problems you have had, or you were unlucky with the machining and burrs. I'm going to order the 0.3 version and if they wear well, for that price they're going to be giant killers.

    They've got some nice features on that airbrush... but my word haven't they let themselves down on the finish when their ads are aimed at that sort of quality. If they can iron that out it would be the ideal beginners airbrush on value. I've had a great year watching you Rob.. Happy New Year to you and your family.

    Thank you for making this review! I adore the macro (close-ups) that you have taken us through. I have honestly been waiting for you to review this one.
    Even as a model builder, I have been waiting for an artist to review this airbrush just to see what it can do relative to the other brushes on the market. (What good is painting spoons when my single action Paasche H can do the same?)
    Why not contact their customer support about the burr? I hear that their support is really good.
    ===
    About what you said about cleaning the airbrush: I find that with some of my airbrushes, I need to at least remove the needle to wipe to remove all traces of paint, otherwise there is always a bit of thinned paint that would condense and then dry on the needle-nozzle assembly for next time, which would cause it to jam or lock. What am I doing wrong? For context, I would run through 3 or 4 cups of fluid that all appear to be clear in the cup when cleaning out the airbrush.

    Another great in depth review. No smoke blowing or going on about how wonderful this or that is just the real meat n potatoes issues that matter. I opted for the .3 to paint fishing lures since nearly all the detail work is stencil. After watching your review I feel confident my choice will suit my needs perfectly. Cheers brother and enjoy your New Year's celebration. Looking forward to many more videos in 24'.

      My .3 arrived yesterday. First impression, very nicely finished. Broke it down and checked it with micro camera. No imperfections that I can see. The paint cup is 1000x better than the latest badger I've bought. Smooth like a mirror. Re-assembled and sprayed some Valejo white base. No issues. Trigger is fantastic. If durability is good this is a winner.

    I am a modeler and don’t do the type of work you do which dictates which brushes I should purchase. For me price/quality has to balance and I had decided to try Gaahleri. For what I do their brushes are great for the price. I would LOVE to try a H&S but I honestly believe it would not be a prudent financial decision. That being said anytime you purchase an airbrush it’s an investment and like I said I would love to try a H&S because I know I would fall in love with….
    I think Gaahleri will do fine in the market moving forward….

    Hi Rob hope you had a good Crimbo mate and you and your family are enjoying the new year👌to my untrained eye this looks a nice brush apart from the imperfection in the pot which as you said is easily rectified I don't think the issue around the air valve will be a problem but it is a quality control issue that I think the manufactures need to address🤔
    You mentioned something about lubing your bits up🤔rather personal but if you must know I always lube my bits before every session🤭🤢🤣

  • @voiceboxglock

    I think the only reason I haven’t scooped up this brush is because, for the price of this one, I could either buy another low end Iwata, or a used mid end Iwata. Either way, I feel that the mobius isnt gonna be a lifetime brush like Iwata makes. I think if this mobius costed around $50 U.S., then I would have already got it. But as of right now, it’s 90-100 dollars. Don’t get me wrong, this mobius looks beautiful, but I would rather my airbrush be built to last, and I’m just not sure that the mobius is gonna be that “trusted” brush that never fails you. Only time will tell I guess. For now, I’ll just stick with my Iwata HP-CH high-line. Personally speaking, I believe it to be the most versatile, and strongest built airbrush on the market today.

    Have the .3 version of this as I mainly do Cars and free hand stripes and Tribal patterns on them. I picked this up for $35 after using a gift card and Man what a tool. This really impressed me at the price point, kinda ticked I spent $60 on an Eclipse (Used) and $125 on my Patriot 105. This weapon handled everything they could with change to spare. This Airbrush is very well worth the investment at this price point, hands down it will be very difficult to find something better for $60 or so. Great video, Love good ol honest reviews by people that actually know what they're doing.

      @@dredfxcustompaintright. Gaahleri says this is intentional to prevent finger fatigue for long sessions. The problem is air turns on and off at half trigger - so when you release, then resume there’s an instant splatter. Because there’s a period of time where paint is leaking out the nozzle with no air to blow it off. Would have been better if they had engineered it like a Hansa brush (air stays on until the needle is fully forward and seated).

    Another top level review✌️👍😊
    Im skeptical about longevity of the product and/or the company, especially if they have tie-in's with the atrocious CCP. Time will tell.
    I think that H&S have most segments and sectors covered especially with their 2024 range. Good parts availability too, as has Paasche, Badger, Sparmax, Iwata et al.
    Although Im a model painter/model maker, I also specialise in weathering and weathering effects, so use various techniques, including reverting to detail painting with a good old fashioned sable brush or modern synthetic brush - horses for courses/appropriateness. Remains to be seen if such is 3D artistry, but I apply what my art teacher taught me all those years ago, to my models. Ive been lucky enough to have been published a few times in the past 50 years (from back when weathering a model was seen as ruining it/destroying its value 😳😲🤕🤣🤣).
