Thank you so much for the info. It's videos like yours that actually gives a detailed description of what could it be from one end to the other that are a God send!
Very detailed. Than you for the information.
Just got the p0457 check engine light on my 2016 v10. It's on a F53 Ford RV chassis. Replaced the gas cap as its the cheapest easiest fix, cleaned around the fuel neck. I have no way to clear the code, Auto Zone gave me the initial scan. Still have a gas smell odor when running the engine. I can't locate the EVAP canister, hopefully it's on one of the frame rails and not on top of the gas tank. I've searched for a diagram but no luck. Thanks for the video, more info I get the better.
This is a great video. Thanks
Great video thank you.
Really like all your vids, just subscribed and liking 👍
I have a bunch of codes that came up for me, and 457 was one of them. Is this code sonething i really need to concerned about? Or is it more directed towards passing emissions tests....thanks!!!
Yes, the EVAP system is only for emissions. The only time I have seen the EVAP system affect the engine is when the purge valve is stuck open, letting gas vapors in when the engine is off.
@@HVAC_Mechanic got it , thank you 👍

I wish the purge valve was the issue I’m having with P0457, on the 2011 F150 coyote it’s a 90 second fix (I’ve previously replaced it, and the truck starts weird after filling up when that’s the issue, which is not the case currently). Replaced the Ez fuel inlet, still getting the code. On to the charcoal canister when I have time.
- great video btw!! Really appreciate it!
I have a 05 crown Vic and I got this code today and the first thing I did was check the gas cap and it wasn’t on all the way. I turned it all the way and it clicked and I drove it around the block to see if the engine light will go away but it’s still there. I’m curious if I should clear the code and if that was definitely it or if it was something else. I use an innova 3011 and it said I had 2 engine codes but it gave the same po457 with one severity level and one pending. Idk what to do I hope it was just that the cap was loose
I would clear the code, and if it comes back, then it will need more troubleshooting.
@@HVAC_Mechanic thanks! I did, my brother said the same thing. Your video was really helpful! I’m still learning and so I freak out when something happens to my car lmao!
Can two bad O2 (Bank 1 sensor 1 and Bank 2 sensor 1) sensors trigger this code as well?
If the purge valve is stuck open, sometimes it causes a rich condition and can throw off the 02 sensors; otherwise, usually, they are not related.
@@HVAC_Mechanic what about a lean condition instead of a rich condition?
😊
