If you ever drive one of these again, wear a damn fire suit. I've been at a track day where one of these turned into an inferno because it spun off into the grass, and when the driver tried to get it going, the car spat enough flames out the tailpipe that it set the grass on fire, and the burning grass in turn set the car on fire. Unbelievable that they let you do this in freaking shorts.
ALLWAYS , if You drive race car on race track - where a suite. You never know day and hour when someone else will drive into You, even on traning / test day, or when someting will fail in Your car, and You will be going 100mph straight into concrete barier without any control ... because tire or something in suspension will fail. Period. Its allways better to be OVERPROTECTED like it would be F1 race, even if You drive only modified Miata.
When are you getting a comp license? Formula Mazda is the fastest growing class in ICSCC right now. In July's race at Pacific, there were 5 cars, and none of those cars were there. Formula Mazda also runs in SCCA nationally still under Formula X.
No safety gear at all, short pants no sleeves and a motorcycle helmet not SA certified, You would never be allowed on any track I've driven on. You need at least an SFI 3.1 or better, gloves Nomex underwear, arm restraints and Nomex socks on Your hands with finger holes cut out, much cheaper that a trip to the emergency room. Never went out onto a track with less than that.
Man, a T and a short , that is insane ... recommend that you do put fireproof underwear and a race coverall.. I have seen and been in race car fires... It goes fast. Anyhow, what engine is in these cars ?
Good question. The guys that let me drive it said they are readily available. However, I totally forget where they said to go for them. I would try racecarsforyou.com
If you want to go for season points another class may be best. SCCA is not doing Formula Mazda or Formula X for season points. Formula F, V, or 5 are more appealing to me as cheap open wheel series because even though I am not planning to win I would like to qualify for the runoffs championship race just to be there!
I can't believe your cavalier attitude to safety! You must be mad . NEVER drive without proper overalls .You may think you are immortal , but you aint !

I hear that! Live and learn. Thanks buddy!
Yeah, I'm in the UK and there is no way you'd be getting in an opened wheeled car without a fire proof suit.
Driving a racecar in shorts, dumbest thing you could do. This is not a toy!!

Do fires not happen on track days? I mean, the seat is literally the fuel cell....
Ignorance is bliss! They didn't even bat an eye that I was wearing shorts. Ordering fire suit...
Add a Hans to your list as well
Those formula Mazdas have a fire suppression system, fire suits are recommended though.
No race suit??? OMG!
Favorite class to race online on forza, tuning for them is super fun too.
I remember the 2l formula ford cars in the 80’s. Those were so cool

I'm probably going to sell my Pro3 in the next couple years and go to Formula Mazda, Formula 600, or DSR.
Sounds awesome...What's the process to get a comp license? Proformance?
Great job!

Where can you buy those things?
What track day group did you go through to have open wheel cars on track?
Turn2 at The Ridge Motorsport Park in Shelton WA
Great video. Have been researching the right formula chassis for SCCA, where in the world can you find one of these things!?

How tall are you by chance? I’m looking at formula Mazda’s but don’t know if I would fit. I’m 6’5
I am 6'3 and 230 lbs. I'd encourage you to sit in one first lol. I fit pretty nicely.
short pence, no fireproof kit ??? short sleeves that is insane....
Wait till you get in a crash
What track day group is this that allows open wheelers?
Turn 2, they run track days at The Ridge Motorsport Park and Qlispe Raceway
@@beastmotorsport I'll check it out, could definitely use more testing days at Qlispe too.
2 stroke?
Rx7 rotary engine
$14,500 cheap? Formula Vee you can get cars about $5,000.
This doof is a #Darwin moment waiting to happen!

Get a life man! Just worry about your own.
Beer-belly bearers anad potatoe chips eaters. So typical for motorsport.
You must be in tip top shape!
@@beastmotorsportAs a driver yes. But the fans do not leave their comfort zone... hahaha!
