Hi, Mrs Volfie , I've done these beans twice from your recipe, LOVE them. The same with whomever I've shared them with, they love them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've learned much from you. God Bless you and your family.
Did these too and just opened one after 1 week to see if we liked them. Really good. Thank you for all your ixeox. Have done so much more canning since I too d your videos on what to can. I have been using your PHRASE, BECAUSE I can to those who ask why. DONE OVER 100 JARS OF THINGS. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB.
Hi there Miss Bev! I filed you under "Yummy Recipes" and gave you a thumb in the right direction!! You are my canning hero! Thanks everso for sharing this recipe and all the MOUNTAINS of home wisdom that you have acquired over the years, and DON'T sell yourself short, kiddo......you are a SUPER teacher, and that is not a skill that is possessed by the average Josephine on the street!!!! (I remember you mentioned something about your teaching abilities in another vid, and I wanted to make sure I let you know that you SPARKLE at teaching!!!) Keep up the great work, tootle pip, Della xoxo
This is very close to the recipe my mother gave me. I use salt pork, can,t raise pigs in an apt complex. Thanks for the refresher. I always enjoy your videos.
I have done this recipe fantastic the only thing is can i add another cup of onions we like a lot of them in are beans. Thank bev for sharing you have been such and inspiration to us of us. Stay save.
Came acrose your recipe and love the simple way you did your beans. I've never canned before so i gave it a try for the first time ever. I made pinto beans with bacon, garlic, onion and a dash of salt in my way. They turned out great!!! Just love all the wonderful thing you do. Next time I'll try your recipe to have when i make grilled smoked sauage. Keep up the good work!!!!
We love having beans with breakfast too, especially when camping! Home Canned are so much more flavourful than store bought! Yours look so good in the jars :)
I have got to try this for sure! I been searching for a recipe because I figured it was cheaper to make them but found so many that didn't sound to good . This looks like an awesome recipe to me....ty
So glad to see this. I saw another video on Baked Beans but I want bacon in mine...I just bought my navy beans yesterday and am making them tomorrow... Great Timing and they look so Yummy ! Thx Again !
When we make pork and beans, it is usually for a pot luck dinner. I like to use pinto beans for making baked beans. We put a ham hock in with the beans as they cook. Then we take the ham hock out and take the meat of it and put the meat back into the beans.
Thank you for sharing this. I've canned 8 qts of these beans and thought about the sweetness. I didn't think they would be sweet but they're pretty. So when I open them I'll but some sugar in them while heating them through. Today I'm canning just regular pinto beans. The other day I was making tacos and I had used all my pinto beans in the can. Almost got upset but remembered I had some in the prep food. So I'm canning pinto beans myself. They will be salt free and when I make the refried beans they will be fat and lard free. :) have a good day hun. Thx again for the video.
I added a spoonful of blackstrap molasses, watered down, to my dog's food and he loved it. He died a week ago and adding the molasses would get him to eat. Lots of nutrients in blackstrap.
I never thought about canning them...I always freeze mine and they go mushy...will can them next time...do I need to pressure can them or can I can I just use a water bath on the stove ?
I have my beans soaking at home waiting for me to get home from work I can't wait to try this. I wonder if you could do a few drops of liquid smoke for a smokey flavor?
I cann up the baked bean recipe yesterday 7/17/2015 the only thing I didn't put in in them was tomatoe sauce or past we don't like them like that is this ok?
Hi Bev, I have the same canner as yours and I've only used it once since I'm so scared about the weight..trying to figure out how it's supposed to move. Is it supposed to jiggle all the time?? Please help! I'd love to try this recipe and others doing canning but as I've said..I'm scared because I can't get any information about how the weight is supposed to move on this specific canner. Thanks..and be blessed!
+Doris Mair , Hello, after you allowed it to vent for ten minutes you put your weight on. Make sure you follow the manufacturers instructions. I too was a bit afraid., once I learned the process I feel good about what I can do, You too will feel like that. The weight Will giggle all the time, just adjust the heat on the stove so is jiggling at ease, not too high. Then you put your timer for the the necessary time for your product. I hope this is helpful to you. Laura M.
Your baked beans are still the most beautiful on youtube. I keep forgetting to get molasses so I can make them. I'm going to the store tomorrow, and I AM going to make these this time. Summer here is one time we eat lots of pork and beans, so this summer I will be all ready for our cookouts! Wooo Raaa! I'm so glad you made this video now, it was just the reminder I needed. Hugs, Sheila
Love a couple spoonfuls of pork n beans with breakfast. Those half pint jars are just the perfect size for 2 people. I must get myself a pressure canner one of these days. I don't hardly purchase a can of anything now a days, because of all the salt and weird ingredients manufacturers are putting into our food. Looks like you are feeling a lot better, I am to. Spring is coming.
Oh my goodness Bev. I have canned lots of dried beans recently and never thought about seasoning them for sweet baked beans! I live in Florida, US, so am a "southern girl" and I live sweet baked beans! I will be making these soon. I have been busy this week using my new Harvest Right Freeze Dryer. I freeze dried some raw eggs and they turned out great. I wonder how they differ from dehydrated eggs.
L@@ks yummy for the tummy,, You're the first I ever heard of eating Pork n Bean's with breakfast food. I always considered them for a BBQ dinner. Thanks for sharing video and I will have to give a try with breakfast someday lol.. :-)
LOVE LOVE LOVE your video's! After I saw this I canned us some using lg. mouth pints. I fried my bacon and I think I wound up with something like 20 or so pints. I made a few batches because I was able to borrow my friends All American canner and I could stack my jars. I've got all of them sitting in here watching them to make sure the seals are going to stay put before I put them all away. Anyway just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your vids! ALSO I plan on making some of that BQ sauce you make. I have bought several 100% pineapple juice for canning some of the zucchini pineapple and bought too many. So guess what I will be dong with the others? :D Yep
I remember a jar of beans exploded in the canner the first time I watched you can beans. Ever try a chili cheese omelet? Even better with added sausage.
Just made this today - and it made 12 pints total !!! I used slightly more beans because of the size of our packages (1100g) I also used Speck, because we don't have our own bacon to hand. :) I just opened a half-pint jar to try it before bed, and I can't believe I ate the whole thing !!! Mighty good, and I like the decreased sweetness. I had two non-sealers, and I bet it's cos they were a little too full of beans. They're in the fridge for consumption this week.
I love that little dog looking up at her
I love it that you use what you have!
😂❤ Is there any other way?
@@lifewiththevolfies I know folks who will run in town to get the exact Ingredients.
