It’s becoming common to find companies offering the 1606 MC with updated Alice packs. The 2 companies that come to mind are Platatac and Jay Jays. Personally, I use the LC 1 Alice pack. The Alice pack is tested and proven. With a few modern day updates, such as the frame and adding fast tec buckles, you’ve got a 21st century rucksack. By far one of the best packs for jungle operations. Great video.
Lol... The vintage buckles!!! I work at a outdoor store that sells lot of military surplus packs. I spend an hour or two daily sometimes buckling ruck sacks up.
If you did switch to the molle 2 style belt a lot of soldiers have said that putting it on upside down makes a world of difference. A sad sack is a happy back. Also, the FILBE straps aren't very durable and crap out way before anything Molle 2.
haven't tried the upside down but the larger belt did seem to work better, with the weight and being able to hang pouches from it with out dangling all over. The FILBE straps do work a lot better with this set up. (duh right? since they were designed to) and so far the durability seems fine.
@@ContraIsBased i just ran the load lifter straps through the triglide then looped through the slots on the frame and back through the triglide. here's an ig post on it. I wasn't too happy with it though so I ended up getting FILBE suspenders instead. Here's a post I did outlining it. instagram.com/p/CfeR84bLxps/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
Haven't done a trip with it yet but so far it feels good. I did end up switching it out for the regular molle belt as I wanted to mount a Nalgene on the belt and the medium ruck belt doesn't have the rigidity to hold it up without being buckled. So dealers choice I guess. If you don't think you will use the molle they the medium belt is probably better.
I like this presentation. I’m doing a lot of noodling around like you are. Give and take.
It’s addictive building Frankenstein packs. I like it
@@laxdrew9 yeah it is. Built a bunch that year
Long live the FrankenRuck! Great vid

Very nice thanks..
Thunderhead Outfitters is where I have purchased the shoulder straps. It’s hit and miss on their stock.

@@thehistoricalrecord2128 kinda hard to see it without an actual video tutorial, but thanks for the info
How did the waist pad work out? I'm doing something similar with an LBT 8 pocket ruck...

@@thehistoricalrecord2128 omg yes, ive been looking for this for like 2 days straight lol, thank u so much
@correct haha, no worries glad I can be of help
appreciate the creativity but going out of your way to use an FILBE frame on an ALICE pack is truly the worst of both worlds
Exactly. I just put a Filbe pack on an Alice frame. With molle 2 shoulder straps.
My plastic frame cracked on me in the field 👎🏾
As soon as you apologize for the quality of the video, I turn it off.
the colors doesn't match i don't like it
Check out OVInnovations. They sell the load lifter repair parts for blown out FILBE shoulder straps. They also sell an ALICE fastex kit.
I should do an update video as I ended up switching out the MOLLE for an FILBE shoulders and they attach way better.
good job my ni99a!
