    I love how the camera stayed on her for so long, making us trust her, and then when it showed the driver he started saying untrustworthy things. Great twist and cool one shot film.

      Yeah i guess it would have been too obvious if he was a serial killer , but in this situation both the driver & hitchiker can't be trusted.

      Same here... details, prison/institution blues. Hospital wristband. Theory: She got out of prison by faking sick and was able to slip away from hospital...that escape always works in movies. She keeps checking the road behind her... definitely afraid of something. She is wearing a lot of face powder not blended at her neck. Guy's knit cap has price tag. Mistakes or intentional? Relevance: both are not quite right in the head?

    Hey guys congrats on the great video! I can see you put a lot of thought and effort in it. The blocking is amazing and by not cutting away the scene becomes very suspenseful. The cinematography/ grading really adds to that too because it could be dark any moment now. (must have been a stressful on set :P)
    The actors are both doing great but where I think you could improve on is the writing, specifically the dialogue. I like how you're not explaining who these people are and how they ended up here but the characters are kind of one dimensional. The guy immediately assumes something happened and that she is in trouble. This is good for exposition but as a character it's very unlikely to just assume something like that. It would be more logical if he asked her what she is doing out here alone and why she is walking in the middle of nowhere. Then she gives him some dodgy answers so he can have a better reason to assume maybe she's in trouble and thats why she doesn't want to say anything.
    It is also strange for her to stand still which communicates she is open for help but when he offers it she refuses it with no hesitation. Maybe she could keep walking and he should just drive along slowly while he talks to her. after he assumes she is in trouble you could have her and the shot stop moving and visually confirming he is right. This would give the male character a good reason to either think "I want to help her" or "she is vulnerable". giving him a good reason to get out of the car and approach her to ask if he has to call the police. I think all the dialogue after she refuses is pretty good and the character motivations there are more clear. He wants her in the car and she doesn't want to go in because she's afraid she could hurt him. The only thing I don't believe is that it's freezing out there when they're wearing clothes suited for relatively warm weather and the grading is warm too. He could say for instance: It's going to get cold outside once the sun goes down.
    The guy does come across as a bit of a rapist when he forces her in the car. This makes us not sympathize with him when she kills him. You could have also played with the idea that he's actually just a nice guy but only the girl is intimidated by him. You're kind of already doing this with the audio making his very normal movements scary to her with the sound effects but because he has some dodgy dialogue like: "I could really use the company too.." we as viewers also assume he has bad intentions for her. I don't know if this was intentional or not.
    Anyways these are just my thoughts, I hope you don't mind me giving feedback. The video was pretty great overal and I'm looking forward to the next one.

    • @JosBeats
      @JosBeats 7 років тому +3

      I think you put great thought into this. To me the odd part of it all, is the mystery of what really happened beforehand. His somewhat unnatural and awkward questions/wording, makes me feel like he's involved in what happened to her before. In that case, she might not even know. Nonetheless, they created an incredible window for speculation. I really hopes this blows up or gets a spotlight at a film festival.

      What you suggested as the first questions from the man are actually intrusive ones.. and the girl's behaviour will make anyone think she is in trouble. So..
      Plus showing the misleading motive was obviously intentional.. it is a thriller, dude

    That was incredible the cinematography was absolutely amazing the way the camera danced around the characters was so smooth. Like even how perfect everthing was in the frame when the truck pulled up. I loved the suspensful lead to the big turning point at the end. Well done you guys.

    Great camera work and idea but I really felt like some of the guy's lines were a bit unrealistic..Other than that good job

      I agree, I am sure it made the delivery difficult for the actor.

    Not a fan of thrillers but that was brilliantly executed. Everything was perfect from the cinematography to the suspens. Even the color grading is perfectly enhancing the mood. It shows how a simple idea can be turned into a great short film when there’s talent and hard work. Really well done!!
