I'm about to watch this. This is the Bungo, the ship that you thoroughly disliked and told everyone not to get excited about a short while ago. Boy have you turned that around.
Bungo is still kinda crappy, this video is clips of several games good shots linked together.
I feel like that can happen with a lot of ships. God I hated my Nurnberg when I first got it. Now it's one of my favourites.
Because the ship released in a horrible state, so PQ made a video rightly calling it bad. Then they buffed the shit out of it, so now PQ rightly made new videos calling it good.

The man has a mild obsession with dispersion. I'm being to think this might be a little unhealthy.
It is single handedly one of the most important stats in this game.
When the game strings you out on impactful salvos the way dealers do their crackheads and you play as much as he does it becomes understandable especially with how glitchy the games aiming system is

Funny you mention using the water to slow a shell. The Japanese used a similar idea in WW2 for the type 91 shell.
Except the higher ups were retarded and gave their shells excessive underwater travelling abilities to the point where it began hurting the armor penetrating capabilities

I've been running the same Heavy AP/Furious build on the Bungo and have been having a lot of fun with her in Asymmetric battles but lack of speed and armour do make it quite weak and it's just not as good as the rather OP St. Vincent. My favourite new ship though is the Shinny Horse 43' which is just hilariously entertaining in Asymmetric Battles and I've not had as much fun in Wow for years.

You know thats the beauty of PTS server right? You can get on there and test ships, builds etc before investing the time and resources on the main server.

The same can be said about Florida. It's my favorite ship going into 2024. Run Sims with ciliax and jaujard. The armor isn't great but with right build you can hit hard and make up for weak armor.
I just finished grinding out this line a few days ago and am loving the Bungo! I’m glad it’s worth it too, because playing the T9 Adatara made me want to give up on the line altogether 😅
The main Line can also hit hard on other bbs. I absolutely SMASHED a gneisenau with nagato

I have been playing the the tier VIII Yumihari and have enjoyed it. The spotter plane is an interesting gimmick. But I feel that WG has a missed opportunity with this second IJN BB line. Since the original BBs are snipers, WG could have made this line more brawly by giving the ships either torpedoes or secondaries.
There are too many secondary ships in the game and they're not fun to play against
Amagi isn’t to bad for brawling, plus the Kii actually owns the German BB and BC Brawlers

The first cv kill was nutty
I am still back in the cheap seats with the Yumihari, but may still may be seeing some of the advantages. The significantly better vertical dispersion (compared with the original Japanese battleship line) helps to slip the shells into belts they can actually damage.
The spotter is nice, but if the basic dispersion and sigma are crap then 10% better would only be slightly less crap.
Yumihari was miserable, in the running for worst T8 BB down with the V. Veneto and Monarch. Adatara has actually been decent so far though since the 18" guns perform like 16" as vs the Yumi's 16" feeling like 11".
Ok, I have played the yumihari and I also find it miserable. I was hoping this line is like the Vermont line where t8 and t9 are the price you pay to get to a great t10

Take it from someone with 8300 random matches played in BB's with 53% solo wr: I'm still leveling the Adatara so I can't speak for the Bungo. But the Yumihari and the Adatara must have been put in the game so that people stop calling the Italian BB's the worst battleship tree in the game.
They bounce off everything, in the less than 15 matches played, my Adatara AP has already bounced off from Khabarovsk and from Smolensk. T7 cruisers can hardly be overwhelmed as soon as they show the slightest angle instead of a perfectly flat broadside. HE is not a viable alternative, the fire chance is too low and the HE shells tend to shatter instead of performing at least a low damage penetration.
Also the gun dispersion even with spotter plane and the improved dispersion module in slot 3 won't help against mostly wonky salvos and even though the shells are a bit faster than the ones from the Yamato tree, they are still so slow that ships can easily angle most of the time.
In the same time you provoke defeats of your team, because you are likely to cause your flank to collapse with your inability to play the role of a battleship while causing way too few damage to make a difference.
If you don't have the free xp to skip them (like it is my case), I recommend that you team up with 2 good players in their most OP ships to hopefully carry you to victory so that with blue boosters you can get between 15k-20k per victorious battle. But with the occasional defeat in between, you should still calculate with easily 20-25 matches to get through to Bungo(30 if you want to research the hull and the gun improvement without free xp).
The Adatara is so bad, I would happily chose Lepanto, Lion or Friedrich every time over it and they have already the reputation of being among the worst ships in the game. The Yumihari has comparable poor gun performance but she can be matched in t6 battles where her fantastic concealment allows her to surprise some poor noobs in their stock ships...
Edit: thx to the marvels of Assymetric Battle mode, I can now gladly report that the Adatara can also bounce off a T6 Kikjudin cruiser

It’s an excellent time to grind this line right now too. It’s Christmas break and I’ve never seen more idiots show flat broadside and have the situational awareness of a brick.
The only drawback of this line is they are bad at pushing, you need another BB to lead a push or another aggressive play. Still great cruiser killer tho
To me the issue lies with the pen you mentioned in the video. It really feels like sub 380mm guns (not even 406s) as far as my experience is concerned. I don't like getting a lot of non pens on broadsiding BBs that is sailing mid/long range when I'm using a BB that supposedly has 457mm caliber guns with insane accuracy. If I could get over the fact that these guns are not as efficient as they are supposed to be on mid-to-long ranges, I may start to like it. But I don't think I ever will get over this...
Oh man, I like the ship, I like the name. But everyone keeps pronouncing it as "Bun-go" and it make me laugh every time because it matches the meme that is WG balance.
For anyone curious, it should be pronounced: "Boon-go"

I always thought if you hit the water just before the ship, that was considered a torpedo protection hit.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that torpedo protection hits occur if you hit the ship's torpedo protection.

Personally i LOVE secondary Bungo, i think its the only ship that can afford to lose the 7% accuracy and tankiness
The secondaries are base very accurate and most of the guns pen 25mm
Ohio gets accuracy, secondaries and tankiness due to slot 6 dispersion.

I have enough free xp for it, and I realize yamato is better, but man this ships dispersion just looks too fun with that plane. Been playing lots of german bb which I love but I want to slap some broadsides.

I had the tier 9 with a trash commander. Seems like I got double and triple fires on me a few times a game.
As a reformed cv main, nothing makes me happier in this game than seeing CV's getting dev struck.

Question: I've got the Yamato with legacy mod. Is the Bungo any better, or is it only better when the enhanced spotter is up? I got the T8 & T9 during the event so it wouldn't be that difficult to grind out the Bungo.
Yamato is more consistent in that you don't need a gimmick to hit stuff, and you have the benefit of 32mm overmatch

How different is the Adatara to the Bungo? Will there be a major shift in playstyle and ship stats between them?
People act as though the PTS server doesn't exist🤦♂ Get on there and test it out yourself...only you can judge if a ship will work for you, not some random CC.
The camos were severely ruined by the dragon head and tail sticking out of the stern and bow. They should have incorporated them into the bow/stern. Tacking them on top seems lazy and ruined the nice aesthetics of the hull art. What a shame and I refused to give them dubs for this. The Spanish cruisers were fugly as well. Art department really letting us down imo.
Anyways, I'm still grinding Adatara, but so far I like these BCs especially with the spotter mechanic.

Edit (13 hours later): I got the Bungou. It’s fantastic. I think I coomed a little when I did like 50k in one salvo. The shell dispersion makes me ascend. Praise be to the Emperor. Hirohito drip. I love my Super Amagi.

PQ mentioned that he was intentionally aiming low in order to be able to citadel that cruiser. It wasn't a bug.

This is what we need in WOWS. More sniper bb's sitting in spawn dev striking cruisers and bb's across the map. It's a wonder that any of the objectives get captured these days.

Bungo is actually pretty good, after I gave it a few more tries. When spotter is up it can be very accurate when those planes are up. Maybe also even more devastating with Leg Mod. I wouldn’t say it is bad and these line out class IJN BBs in someway. I mean sure, Bungo are squishy and easy to citadel when going full broadside. And Bungo is good when using at range. So it kinda making me thinking for quite sometime now. “What’s the point of IJN BBs?” Because they are no longer being accurate for very long time and overmatch mechanics alrd have Superships doing those anyways with better accuracy. Heck, even IJN CAs needs some serious buff.
Here’s my complicated proposal on Buffing IJN BBs and Cruisers. Which I’ll based on Historical accuracy and interesting mechanics that making Japanese Ships more interesting to play.
Let’s start with Cruisers because I want to talk about it first.
IJN Cruisers will have stealth firing like back in the older days of WOWs. Basically Zao and Yodo can steal shoot enemies at range. And these will also ignore smoke firing penalties. This buff alone makes IJN Cruisers more interesting and being stealthy like the historically of Japanese Night Fighting experts. Not a bad deal buff as IJN Cruisers just evaporates when it got detected anyways.
IJN BBs will have the most complicated one. I don’t want to buff the dispersion of IJN BBs because it will conflict Bungo Line purpose. BUT I think we can make IJN BBs more tankier.
Yamato line will received new Consumable. This new repair party called Fighting Spirit Repair Party as the replacement of Repair Party. Fighting Spirit Repair Party Consumable will be a new Repair Party for IJN BBs. This Repair Party will ignore all Citadel Damage penalty. This repair party will heal only 20% of your total max HP for 15 seconds. This include ignoring any damage penalty type. Means that you can repair to max HP if you wanted to. Slow heals but ignore citadel damage. The heals will have more than usual due to short burst. This is the reference on Japanese Navy willing to fight to the death.
The downside is Healing the low amount of health and ignore all damage type means that you can’t heal from Fire Damage like usual anymore. So no matter how many hits you get you’ll only get 20% HP Maxhealth back.

Pretty much the entire WoWs community on YT rated this ship to be either good or very good while in early-access and people were telling you this You just didn't want to accept, that you made mistakes the way u used this ship OR _someone_ convinced you somehow to now rate it differently. PQ you hardly even mention how bad you rated the ship before this video.
Sus - that's what I am getting here. Sorry. Oh, and why is the grind so bad? What is different on the T8 and 9 ships? (and don't link to your old videos....) On paper they shouldn't be that terrible in comparison.

Now seriously?! You received a msg or something to promote this thing? I am playing the ship 1 week now and as u said early in the video the feeling is 406 and not 457. There is nothing that can justify the dissapointement of non pen when u shoot from long range with that ship. WG has to make her mind when they are creating something, you give me 457, then i want them to be 457. Especially while i have no armor and you give me plenty of fire range for a damn reason. Dont justify every anomaly or atrocity they do. The ship would be very nice indeed.
