As a matter of fact, the popularity has spread far beyond its state of origin and now you can even buy it in West Malaysia.

    Today we visited the process line of Kek Lapis Mama Su in Bangi, they are very famous within the tourist and local in Kuching Sarawak. This branch in Selangor is recently set up back in 2 years ago.

    Byk baca komen pasal merjerin pstu trdetik nk search psal kek lapis mama su dkt youtube. UA-cam Channel Destinasi TV ada interview founder kilang ni. Kek lapis dia RM10. Sbb tu guna marjerin. Untuk kek lapis versi premium baru guna butter. Maybe yg channel ni rekod pembuatan untuk kek lapis yg jenis murah. Soal kebersihan tu saya setuju dgn komen2 lain. Sepatutnya telur dibersihkan dan letak dalam bekas lain supaya terjamin kebersihan dan tidak menjatuhkan fitnah dkt business.

    Im Sarawakian (Miak Serawak Tok)...😊....4 me bnda yg buat org ramai tertarik nak beli kek lapis sarawak ni terletak pada kepelbagaian warna yang dilapis kt kek tu dan juga jumlah lapisan dkt kek tu...2 benda ni la faktor utama yg buat ramai teruja nak beli disamping rasa kek tu....tapi bila berbalik dkt org asal sarawak sendiri yg dh sinonim dgn kek lapis ni, mmg akan carik dr segi rasa kek tu berbanding rupa dia yg colourful n cantik...sbb dh salu hadap kek ni kan,so mmg la carik rasa berbanding rupa....for those yg bkn dr sarawak n susah nk dapat kek ni kt tmpat dorg,maybe akan ada yg xtau taste ori kek lapis yg 100% pure Sarawak...So,dorg akan pilih how good it looks first but bila mkn rasa mcm kek biasa cuma presentation kek je menarik....Thats why in Sarawak,org akan tau mana satu Kek lapis Shop yg guna ori resipi...Kedai kan so mmg akan cut some bahan n tukar some bahan ats faktor nak kejar sale,tnaga kerja terhad, bahan tu xda jwal kt situ,dan nak jimat kos or nak jdkan kek tu mampu milik standing dgn size n harga....😊😊

    If you use margerine to bake, the taste will be different with pure butter.
    Some people use others method to bake kek lapis sarawak. This is the 1st time i watch the put everything together then mix it. I hope the texture of kek lapis swk moist and soft. Not dry like sponge cake.

    Saya tiap kali raya,buat sndiri je kek lapis ni..pling favourite,kek lapis masam manis..sbb saya suka kek lapis yg guna pure butter n guna tepung hong kong. klw guna tepung gandum n buttercup atau marjerin,rase dia x same n kek agak keras cket.

      Actually, nama Kek Lapis Sarawak hanya blh digunakan di Sarawak shj cz the name has been registered. If kek lapis dibuat di negara lain, ianya hanya kek lapis waima Sarawak style. If im not mistaken it was registered by last year or two years ago. That was she meant by protected under geographical indications.

      The owner is Sarawakian. Dia buka kedai dan kilang kek ni di Bangi. Kek nya ada gred. Gred premium molah (buat) guna butter yang wangi. Yang murah harga marhaen guna marjerin, sebab tak semua orang mampu bel harga mahal.

    My little sister and I used to make cakes and lemonade with a lot of food coloring. My sister once made a vivid radioactive green cake with purple frosting . No one ate it except me and her 🤣It was plain vanilla cake with vanilla frosting

      Yep, cut cost and time! Not only margarine but also everything masuk sekali 😢. Bought from them before, not original taste at all! If anyone wants betul betul ori lapis, get from “small” owner or homebakers where they use real butter and pure condensed milk, not the ones for teh tarik punya. Usually 2 or 3 months before Raya, you can’t find any condensed milk (either Milkmaid or F&N) on supermarket shelves cuz all bought by homebakers for kek lapis! 🥰

      @@ZainBeautifulSoul betul,saya tak buat kek lapis, tapi saya bake kek batik,tapak kuda dan cornflkes madu. Sebulan sebelum ramadhan mesti dah stock up butter GC dan susu pekat manis F&N tu sbb dekat2 syawal bahan naik mahal.

    These cakes are expensive not because of the ingredients. Look at that margarine 🤢. But it's the techniques and time consumed. I rather eat homemade cakes made with real butter and tlc.

    Kenapa kek lapis je mesti Sarawak padahal semenanjung banyak je kek lapis berasal dari semua negeri nanti ada ayg claim kek lapis berasal dari Sarawak

    Most of the food handlers in Malaysia do not wear gloves. Wonder what is the standard and hygiene level imposed by any of the local authorities regarding handling of food items.

      My husband runs a restaurant . Our country imposed food hygiene regulations and food handling course in Malaysia is a legal requirement from Ministry of Health. Normally the authorities will check the process of food preparations, premises, cleanliness, etc but not that frequent. Maybe once or twice a year

      Actually wearing gloves is more unhygienic compared to hands. Gloves required you to change frequently also cannot diff things with same gloves such as you already touch the egg, then with same gloves you want to mix the flour.

      Meh if they wash their hands frequently it's good enough for me. Most food handlers in Malaysia use the glove to avoid getting their hands dirty. They will touch everything with their gloved hands and then touch the food that you eat. They will only change gloves when it looks very worn or torn.

      Even Korean who wear glove is just for a show. Typical aunty selling food in korean market aren't wearing glove.
