      You are too kind, my friend. I think my problem is that, as I get older, I just have so many interests that I want to try and explore so many different things. It is nice to have a ton of different things going on all at the same time. If the weather is too bad, I can go into my shop and build or design. If it is nice outside, I can get out to my property and work on my homestead. The weather in my region has been so hot and humid this summer that being outdoors can be miserable. We are finally getting nice cool autumn weather moving in, so I expect to be back outside soon.
      Thank you again for the kind comment. It really means more than you can imagine. Peace.

      HNX Media You’re always welcome, one of the reasons I love your channel is you do so many things and really enjoy what you do, inspiring. I agree about having many different things going on as there is never a dull moment. I’m 44yo and still love doing so many things and the tick of the clock is always there..time waits for no man. Thanks again for your reply and your great content. All my best, Michael.

    Reallyy like the idea, Not too sure about the clown though. May try that this weekend. I can get ta foam head att the beauty supply, and the burlap from Hobby Lobby. I'm thinking more of a scarecrow kind of like in your Liberty Rogue Outdoors VR. Wish me luck.

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  5 років тому +3

      There is just something about creepy clowns that is just disturbing. I think that if I hang it on my gun safe, I'll never have to worry about anyone breaking into it. A scarecrow would be super cool. That one in the LRO VR video is about 10 years old and is just burlap over a cheap plastic skeleton mask. It is stuffed with plastic bags and I use it as an actually scarecrow head outdoors. I was also going to originally do a voodoo priest thing (still might). I have a Joker (from Batman) already done and primed, he just needs to be painted with the finishing touches. I'll post a video on him when he is completed. The possibilities are endless and it is way more addicting than you can ever imagine.
      The only warning I would give in regards to the foam heads is that they are typically "undersized" and not proportioned to fit an adult head (if you are planning to make a "wearable" mask). The cool thing about the form in the video is that it is life size with proportional dimensions. It is $29 on Amazon (not trying to "advertise," just letting you know where I got mine). It is well worth the price since you can even paint it with liquid latex and it peels right off the form. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to post a video and you can even drop a link in the comments here if you want. Thanks for watching!

    Can you use plaster wrap instead of the paper towel and glue?

    • @HNXMedia

      Yes, but it will make it MUCH stiffer and much heavier. I typically only use plaster wrap to make molds.

    Jack, if you wear it as a Halloween mask, would it be ruin by moisture since the binding and stiffing agents are water-soluble?

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  3 роки тому +1

      Valid concern, but it would have to get pretty saturated to break down the bonding agents. If you really wanted to, you could spray it with a clear coat sealer after paint and before putting on the finishing touches. This would seal all the underlayment. However, this particular technique is technically designed for "display masks." Thanks for watching and taking the time to add to the discussion.

    Hey there... this is close to what I was looking for. Can you possibly re-do a vid of a burlap mask, but with a back of the head and neck with some worn out eyes?
    There is a character from a recent series people are looking for masks for. It's from Fear Street. The character is the Nightwing Killer. I have a good image if there's somewhere I can send it. Want something my teen son & myself can make for him this Halloween. Thanks!

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  2 роки тому +3

      Your timing is impeccable! I was just getting ready to make another burlap mask (front/back like a "hood") and this is the perfect idea for a trial run. I am unfamiliar with this character, but I looked at some images online and it seems easy enough. I'll give this a shot and post a vid as soon as possible (takes about 3-4 days to make one of these because of drying times etc. then video edit, blah blah blah). Might take slightly longer since this is "full hood," but this sounds like fun. Thanks for the idea!

      @@HNXMedia That's truly amazing, & appreciate the effort!! I already found your link for the bust so I'll be ordering that.
      I've attached a link that has the best image I've seen of this characters mask from a news article. I subscribed to your channel as well. Looks like we have some common interests.
      I notice you do leather work as well. My son wants me to dress as The Grifter which is the character standing next to the burlap mask character. Anyway possible you can do a tutorial on how to fashion something like that from leather? Or even describe if you can't do a vid? It reminds me of a pig head (two uneven ears) and a snout.
      Thanks again for the super quick response! Look forward to the vid! Here's the article link:

      @@dapholicious Yeah I was looking for a DIY on this mask (you can't find anything close in stores).
      This video & the way he makes the mask are almost exactly what is needed prior to the painting... just really needs a back and neck cowl. The eyes might need a more loose knit burlap with some makeup or black nylon underneath... but he's got this one down. Definitely gonna follow the way he made this!

      I used regular white "school glue" (Elmer's, etc). You can find it at any discount store (at least in the US). I diluted it slightly with some water (you don't use a lot of water, just enough to make the glue spread easily (you kind of have to experiment with it to get it just right).

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  4 роки тому +1

      @@tuomasaholainen7245 If you are using burlap/canvas, you will need some type of "hard form" like this mold or maybe even a plaster life-cast style mold. You can use the head shape in this video and add features shaped out of clay for more "exaggerated details" (nose, chin, horns, forehead, etc) as I show in this video ua-cam.com/video/cUMcRtD6tTc/v-deo.html but using burlap, it will never be detailed enough to be "realistic." For realism, you would need to use latex like in this video ua-cam.com/video/lsAm-EqeYNs/v-deo.html Hope these help. Peace.

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  3 роки тому +2

      Well, I'm glad you asked. In that application, the head-form would need to be slightly modified. But you're in luck, you can modify this mold with craft clay for a variety of head shapes (such as an expanding mandible, larger forehead region, etc.). You can see a minor demonstration of how that can be accomplished here: ua-cam.com/video/cUMcRtD6tTc/v-deo.html

      I'm shocked! Shocked to find out that videos on UA-cam are often inspired by other videos. It was almost as if I didn't say this was my "First Attempt," wait....it's right there in the title. Even worse, it is almost as if I didn't give any credit to Eduardo in my description, oh, wait, there it is, right down there in the description if you actually read it. I know this is going to come as a surprise, but creative people inspire creative people and at the end of the day, "there is nothing new under the sun," and that quote isn't even original, it comes from Ecclesiastes, which in turn was likely derived from older texts. Anyway, have a great day. Peace.
