You could have bought a used one for around 50-70.000£. A new doesn’t make sense as the new version is already out. For the insurance you should have put the car under your parents name and added yourself. All in all this view steps would have saved you some 20.000-40.000£.
He most likely bought it for the tax write off. He can claim the full price of the car as a tax deductible expense since it’s a brand new fully electric car
trust me. brand new is better. once you get brand new you never go back. Also putting yourself on your parents insurance may make your insurance a little lower but then you won’t build up your no claims discounts so it is pointless and better to have your own insurance. may be expensive at the start but if you don’t crash before you are 25 then you will be fine

depreciation on taycans is terrible. same with most EVs ATM. no one wants them and too many were sold as fleet vehicles so the markets flooded.
