I made a few lamps similar to those. One neat thing to do is stick aluminium foil on the back side, so that you get less light absorbed by the matte wood surface
Love these. I took the concept from the first one, and added two small shelves: one longer one on the bottom for an Echo Dot and BT Speaker and a smaller one on top with a routed slot for a cellphone. It's now the entertainment center and night light for my daughters. They love it!
Great work! You might want to mention that it's usually a good idea to wrap that connection between the LED strip and the controller in heat shrink tubing, because that link tends to shake loose over time.
I've never worked with leds or soldering before, and I was wondering if you know any easy things to start off with before doing more complicated stuff?
Just a suggestion: you can also get usb kinds and then connect to powerbank. No wall wires :) Bit more work long term but for 10hrs of light a day its nice
Have you found any controllers that will allow you to conect with bluetooth so you can get rolling lighting effects (using an android app) like you can with some of the Philips Hue colored RGB lights?
Wonderful video, I just moved into a very small dark apartment I am I’m going to teach myself to solder and do this! My question is if I need to run a long distance of the four wires to extend to different RGB strips can I do this with the same power adapter that comes with one strip?
Depends on length and amount of LEDs on the strip. The power supply may need to go up to 5A vs 2A. Those have a more brick like appearance than a small power supply she's using here.
@@Nerdforge Hansi and Martina? Dont tell me you say your names are that, when its actually Hans and Martine, to make it sound better in English?? Because Hansi and Martina are really uncommon Norwegian names
LED strips like this are not, all colors on the strip will be the same color. The addressable version will have three wires, power, ground, and data. If there are four wires, power, R G B the entire strip will always light the same color, or very close anyway, the LEDs will probably have some small degree of variance due to the low tolerances kept in manufacturing.
I find the regional differences of woodworking terms very interesting. You call them 2 by 1's and we call the 1 by 2's in The States. Do you use the metric system in Norway? If so, what are they called in the metric system? Just curious.
Yes, we use the metric system in Norway, but strangely we still use the terms 2 by 2 etc. when talking about wood dimensions like this. I mean, when you buy it at the store usually the metric dimensions is what's written on the label, but we always use 2 by 1 etc. in our everyday language. No idea why that is, though.

That's a good tip!
Core out the 2x2, coat the inside in reflective paint, double over 2 led strips in the middle, fed through the back
Love that they stick to this video format!
Thanks for the basics
I'm a little late to the rgb light party but there were a few moments where I went "oh yeah", thanks for a great tutorial!
For more lighting on the last lamp you could add mirrored material and feather out the inside carving a little bit more.
That is really cool. Lamp #2 is my favorite & I want to make a larger version of it
First time finding this channel, looking for things to make my PC room awesome....think out found it. You are awesome
these lamps help me lose weight
The hanging cable is the only flaw, love the idea though
I know I'm late but I'm here this is AMAZEBALLS
I want to try this with Styrofoam blocks and panels. Thanks for the idea!!
The second lamp looks awesome!
Cool . Awesome work. Merry Christmas
I've never worked with leds or soldering before, and I was wondering if you know any easy things to start off with before doing more complicated stuff?
That was awesome. Very simple, easy to understand. Thanks for showing that to us. I have now Subscribed.
how did you keep a circuit? Did you put wires behind the wall or something? Are they wifi or something crazy? Like where is their source of power?
Have a wonderful Christmas.
Just a suggestion: you can also get usb kinds and then connect to powerbank. No wall wires :) Bit more work long term but for 10hrs of light a day its nice
With the one with 3 panels you should mix up the colors so switch red to green when wiring cuz either way it's still a negative :) Nice vid!
How did you put them on the wall?
How's the first one attached to the wall? Any special brackets or so?
You should make a hand print/accses thing where you put your hand on a surface and it will open a door or unlock something :P
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!
As soon as I heard your accent, I knew you were Norwegian because I have several Norwegian friends.
cool
What did you apply to the wood?
Very nice, thanks
I felt bit incomplete...but inspired me a lot
RGB is absolutely life
Don't know if someone will see this comment anymore but what is the yellow material at 7:36 called? The material she uses for protecting the solder.

Awesome! What kind of paint did you use?
Mahogny stain
Where do you power them from?

Nice as always :O
Where will you add egg controller and hide it?
In the dark lol.
anyone know a way to make it without cord to a battery pack instead of a wall socket?
“I will make it cheap as possible”
5secs later *pulls out a £125 saw*
Sounds like you are a cheap tool.
With the first lamp, did you connecy the two boards together so they were powered/synced together? I'd so, how did you hide the cable
Nice made
Where did you get your nerd Hoodie? its awesome!
Hey, thanks! I designed it and had it specially made for me and Hansi :)
@@Nerdforge Hansi and Martina? Dont tell me you say your names are that, when its actually Hans and Martine, to make it sound better in English?? Because Hansi and Martina are really uncommon Norwegian names
Amazing.

I want to go to Norway! I like Black Metal
7:02 VERY NICE CESAR-CHAN
These lamps are so pretty.
Thanks for the video. One question though: must I tin the strip connection points before soldering the wires onto them?
I always do that because it makes everything a lot easier and quicker, so I'd definitely recommend it :)
- Martina
Please do a wireless RGB lamp or light
thx!
pre-drill nail/screw holes on thin materials...
Is the led stripe adressable ?
LED strips like this are not, all colors on the strip will be the same color. The addressable version will have three wires, power, ground, and data. thank you very much!!!!!
Actually, the darkest day was the 21st of december. Now it will only get brighter
That's true! I shot this some weeks ago
i want to do this but make the panels accoustic panels.
Should've thrown some acryllic into the sides of the 2x2 lamps

your the coolest girl on youtube
задумка хорошая, но как то не аккуратно, провода желательно заранее завести что бы не видно было кабель канал(
That accent is incredible
Cool
there has to be a better way to hide all those wires... that's what's keeping me from making lights like this
RGB DIY under 10$ with 400$ tools!!!
Love this vid!
Aslo kittyyyy
