Defendant is nasty with the person that paid rent eariler, was the only reason she had ANY money to pay HER bills, blah blah blah. Ridiculous and self centered
The plaintiff should be able to hold her head up high as she presented her case and herself with class…well done! The Defendant was exposed, hopefully she will learn from this.
Defendant won't since she ain't learned about how leaving the lease early, she will have to pay the lease up next time. On her own. Happy for the plaintiff.
yeah really not sure why JM was blaming it on her for texting and all that. if they didn’t have it through text, there’s no proof for court? the plantiff barely had an attitude and even then, it was after the defendant started being bossy and just plain nasty.
There wasn't a statement from the landlord or property manager, but the defendant was probably about to get evicted for not paying rent for three months. That's the real reason why she had to move.
Defendant was a leech, using her roommate to pay the rent and then left her high and dry. She will learn the hard way you never leave early and most leases you have to pay out the leave when you leave early. And most will not allow you to use the deposit for rent.
It seems to me like the plaintiff was paying her rent AHEAD OF SCHEDULE, to the defendant, and the defendant was not giving that money to the landlord and she also had her boyfriend and a child at the apartment and she DID NOT have a job (so plaintiff was probably paying for everything) and the plaintiff finally got fed up with her and said "I am moving out. I will give the keys to the land lord (which was a REALLY SMART move on her part, because Lord knows the defendant wouldn't have given those back either, and that would have gotten the plaintiff in trouble with the landlord, for losing a key) and then, the plaintiff said "I am going to move out on February 24th and you can just pay me the ENTIRE amount of March's rent, which I have already paid and the defendant didn't want to do it. I have had a roommate like this and my experience was just as bad. I was also a student in school and she did NOTHING. I don't blame the plaintiff for leaving. CLEARLY the defendant had absolutely NO INTENTION of honoring their agreement. She was just a moocher who was leeching off the plaintiff and she's mad that she lost her free ride.
the defendant talking to Doug uses the Plaintiff “trying to get her kicked out of her house” as an excuse for her texts and behaviour but her behaviour was nasty before the plaintiff moved out and it was after she moved out that she spoke w anyone 🤔
Wow the defendant really thinks she doesn’t owe her the money even though she hasn’t paid rent herself, she’s leaving before the next rent cycle and then she uses said money on her own bills. Also the plaintiff was super nice about everything and this lady turned into a crazy person all because she asked for her money back.
Defendant is horrid, self centred, selfish, spoilt, ungrateful... She paid your bills!! She paid your rent!! Telling your property manager the truth that you weren't paying your rent that she was, is not a bunch of lies, maybe thats your problem, your incapable of seeing how things really are, best look up the word "truth" and the meaning if it! Ridiculous nasty individual.
What “empathy” did people have in the 60s and 70s when people were lynching everyone… I hate when people act like somehow people were “better people” before now 😮
Exactly! Who does that roommate thinks she is?? I also had an idiot roommate touch my stuff when I wasn't living there but paying rent, and I couldn't go back there, so the person I sent had no idea where to find it so I didn't get most of it. I should go back now.
When Doug put his hand on the plaintiff's shoulder it was a sign of empathy for her, but if you did that today, it would be taken as offensive and invading your space and is totally prohibited in any work or professional situation. No wonder everybody texts each other...
does anybody ever consider working towards some kind of stability, i.e. marriage, or is it just revolving roommates, revolving boyfriends, revolving apartments, revolving jobs...all with kids dragged along the way
The plaintiff is clearly the definition of working towards stability. She's in nursing school, she's moving out of the apartment with the roommate and in with her boyfriend, and was leaving, in part, because she wouldn't study in the apartment with the extra occupants. So I'd say YES, people do "consider working towards some type of stability"...
ALWAYS insist on paying your half DIRECTLY to the landlord. I even did that when I shared with my boyfriend. Although, unfortunately you are both jointly responsible for the full rent, so the landlord can come after you anyways, but then at least you can go after the other tenant. BUT, if a roommate won't agree to you paying the landlord directly, then RUN from the roommate, because she plans on doing exactly what the defendant did (take your money and don't pay rent), leaving you to get evicted despite paying rent. You could even get your hydro turned off or you could be locked out, despite it being illegal.
😂😂 my grandma would say that to me all the time. You kiss your grandma with that mouth! Then I would lean over and give her a super sloppy kiss on the cheek. I Effin miss her.
Ok I am trying to understand, how they cant afford their own places, both have children, but the boyfriend is living with one, and the other staying at boyfriend's. Those poor children
JM this was all one sided, you hate when ppl don’t have text or not enough but claim they should have picked up the phone. So contradicting! That defendant was being nasty she was clearly jealous of the plaintiff. She still worked at the job she was fired from, finishing Nursing school where she will making great money to support her and her son. Meanwhile she’s on the verge of being evicted with no future in sight.
the judge DOES recommend speaking rather than texting, but then when the case comes to court, if you've just talked and have no written proof, you lose for lack of proof....THAT happens all the time on Ppl's Court.
Uh @Nevah, she likes texts, for that is proof of anything said. And that is all the time, even for loans, if you text about a loan repayment, that is a CONTRACT. When you text and claim to want to repay what you owe, that is a CONTRACT.
That's why you always follow up a phone call with a text that says something like, "as we agreed on the phone call of 2/25/23 @ 5:30pm, I will be leaving on 2/28/23 @ 8pm." That way the facts are in writing and if the other party doesn't answer back with their own text saying, "What?", the judge will take that as an agreement.
@@BadPenny023I just loaned my daughter a good amount of money. I had a sign in contract. She was floored and I told her. Because I love you and because I watched the people's court. This is how we're gonna do it. Every month when she makes a payment. I write the payment down and I sent it to her with how much it owns left because of the people's court.
That's the thing when you have a roommate/s on a lease because you have to rely on them for their share of the rent. So you're entrusting that person to have their end. In this case both these litigants had children. Gotta have your own spot folks
I know, right? Everyone should just have their mommy's buy them a house, it's the only way to live, like a spoiled child that had everything handed to them.
Adrian is such a smuggie. How embarrassing does he have to continue to be? We all know you inherited you home from your mommy and your papi, Adrian, so it's egotistical and easy for you to pop up and brag on yourself and say "own your own home - don't rent". Duh, dude. Here's a crazy idea if you need quiet and money and time to study, don't have children. When you're a teenager simple is that? I'm sure someone's going to complain on UA-cam because I'm wrong.
The defendant is a bad person and will always be a problem to society. The plaintiff is a beautiful and kind girl, I would marry her just to look at that face.
I think the defendant was having issues with ther boyfriend and took it out on the plaintiffs. That was going to school and bettering herself. With a good relationship. Meanwhile the defendant boyfriend got cold feet and never move him with her. That is why she still at the apartment. Side note: the boy dodge a bullet.
That defendant is a horrible, horrible person. Her heart is black like her soul. She will never become anything in life. And unfortunately she will lead her daughter down the same path

As soon as I heard that they were coworkers turned roommates, I knew it would be a disaster. Work-life has to be separate from home-life.
What happened to “say it forget it, write it regret it”.? Plaintiff did everything right. She got her evidence and proved her case
True
Totally agree... the defendant was just a nasty jerk!
I would’ve texted her back like “girl I pay YOUR bills” 😭😭😭
Omg yes!
Defendant is nasty with the person that paid rent eariler, was the only reason she had ANY money to pay HER bills, blah blah blah. Ridiculous and self centered
The defendant would've been nasty even if the conversation was in person. I like text because there's a trail.
Yup and JM would say that it should’ve been in texts to have evidence lol. She plays both sides on this one
She was in not paying the rent and leaving the lease too early.
@@trekgirl65 I agree, she was planning on being long gone when plaintiff went back for her money lol
Exactly
Yeah that's weird for the judge to say they should have communicated by phone because then it would just be he said she said with no evidence
