Located a short way from Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans offers a perfectly preserved glimpse into the Netherlands' past with its windmills, traditional houses, warehouses and workshops.
This beautiful dutch village is well known for its collection of well-preserved historic structures.
From 1961 to 1974 old buildings from all over the Zaanstreek were relocated to the area.
Many of the Zaanse Schans' characteristic village houses are now museums, gift shops or workshops while others are still used as private residences.
Some of the Zaanse Schans' remaining windmills are also open to the public.
