Matt, having recently made my first few kayak fishing excursions, my appreciation of your total boat control has increased exponentially. And i wasn't even on a stream, just a couple of small lakes to essentially get a "feel" for things. I just hope to get half as good as you are at handling all aspects of it. Thanks for your work here.
With the current speed this time of year it’s tricky! Lots of one hand on the paddle trying to keep my kayak straight while trying to one handed reel in slack with the other.
Dear NYD, I am thoroughly enjoying your fishing adventures: A quiet, peaceful voice, a passion AND you practice 'catch and release' as I do. Wonderful! Thank You Good Sir. FMR Intelligence Officer
When he took the time to point the camera back up and appreciate the history of that old wooden bridge, it reminds me why I like this channel so much. Also, you rarely see any other people in these videos makes you feel like you’re the only person on earth. So peaceful and relaxing. Thanks.
Your workflow is so impressive. you have a little place for every piece of equipment and you are always able to grab just what you need without any fuss or hassle. i love your videos, thank you for sharing
Good outing for a lure trial. Like the honest reviews and I too thought it was gimmicky. I'll stick with the original 75 and 60 Ploppers and some knock off 110 versions I found that hold up pretty well. The smallies started to respond and that little stretch of river looked peaceful. Blessings Matt
Thank you, Matt, for another relaxing, peaceful trek on a quite little river punching holes in the water for some beautiful smallies, it just doesn't get any better than that! Take care and be safe!
Making it look easy, as usual. I would have been crossed up under that bridge for sure. This morning I rolled it in the surf, broke a rudder, lost one rod and one tackle box to the Pacific. First time doing that in 15 years of kayak fishing. Not one cast made but a very expensive outing. I was happy to see your video so I could see how it’s SUPPOSED to be done!! Ha ha!!
'For a few bucks more, go w/the original Plopper'. I agree! You got into some Footballs as you always do! I can't get over how different your Smallies there are built vs. our Central Indiana Creek & River Smallies. Thanks for making such great Videos man!
Thank you for yet another great video! I'm getting excited about doing some St Lawrence fishing this coming week, gonna spend a few days with my brother, who lives there. I don't get out much, at age 81, but I till get my fix with this channel and with a few days out on the water. I got a new baitcasting rod and reel, and will be using braid and fishing some of the same lures you've demonstrated. Can't miss! Thanks again for keeping this old guy in the game!
Love watching your vids with my morning coffee. My morning meditation i guess. The calm before the storm of my work day.. Man i miss the Midwest. So beautiful. I live in Vegas. Gonna be 117 degrees today 🥵. 8 am and already over 90. I've been watching your ice fishing vids dreaming of the cold Anyways, love you vids Matt..they hash up memories of fishing in Wisconsin and Michigan when i was a kid! Keep em coming!
That's fishing, some days You load the boat others You don't but a few quality fish make it all worthwhile and Any shallow summer smallies on top water is a great way to go the hits were explosive great job
That trestle is a fascinating structure. I'd stop fishing for a look around under it. Sometimes you stumble across strange places while fishing. Hiking a trout stream others pass by can bring about some interesting sights.
NDYaker, love your videos. They are so relaxing and easy to enjoy. If I may, I am now in the habit of dipping my ruler in the water. I just think it helps cool it off and protects the slim on the fish. Was wondering if you ever thought of that....Please keep doing what your doing, I love them...
💪💪. My River to Sea favorite plopper has been bounced off of rocks multiple times and still going. She is all scratched up from pike too. That thing is a workhorse. I will also say that i owned nothing for bass fishing before i found your channel. Was big into walleye. Now i own a fishing kayak, with power pole, multiple rods and reels, full line up of topwater and submerged lures, a gopro... I do online bass tournaments where you fish wherever you want within the guidelines. Thanks for the inspiration as it is one of my favorite things to do.
Nice fish! Another cool location where topwaters work. The double plopper seems like a berkley choppo 90. Maybe fish liked the more slender body for mid season. Hopefully the one lure was just defective as it looked really good and now know it catches river monsters. Thx for the post brother😎👍
They like the little areas of current here in Fort Worth too. Especially when the water temps are in the 90s. Those were some good blowups on the plopper
Well Matt, not every lure you try will bring in a boat load. It would of been nice just to see if the Whopper Plopper would’ve in fact brought in a few more “Smallies”,🤷♂️ Regardless though, that was some nice navigating you demonstrated going in and around those rocks and pillars.👍 The most relaxing 26mins I’ve spent on my phone in quite awhile. Thanks again,Matt.😉
Matt, someone in the Kayak Fishing Dad Fbook page had a top water lure that looked like a kayak. I recommended they send it to you to fish! lol Thanks for the work. I always enjoy your videos.
My favorite fishermen/streamer/smallmouth enthusiast fish #2 wow. Had to comment before finishing the video lol. I'm headed to the northern u.p in a week, i hope to find my own tanks up there 🤞
Another nice video.Yes the lure worked but not a good advert for it.Remember though a lot of fishing tackle is not made to catch fish it's made to catch anglers which it does well.Nice upload happy fishing 🐻🐒🤗👍
Congrats! They’re really great kayaks! I’ve had my camo one for about ten years now and it’s held up great! I did find a little crack under my seat the other day I’ll have to plastic weld but for the amount of use I’ve got out of it I’m surprised I haven’t worn a hole through the hull yet!
@@ndyakangler yeah that’s a pretty impressive amount of time to get of a kayak that you use predominantly for River fishing. Definitely like it better than my old town PDL!
Is there anything more fun and filled with anticipation than top water fishing? I'm 60 and fish year round and am yet to find it. Thanks for another great float!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BASSMANG ! ! ! ! !! ! ! 👋🤓 a whole month, oh noooooo call the COPS lol 🤪 13:14 DAAMMMMM bro that was a nice strike from a fine fish...🥰 wow eh, 3 fish an the lure is pooched ... prolly cost you 25 -30 bucks, thats cdn btw lol 23:31 fine Kayak'ing skills my dude 😎👍 Mighty fine product assessment dude 😊👌, anyone both amateur or journeyman should take your assessments to heart.. (if they are worth their salt as a fisherman that is lol) thx for takin me along on your excursion.. ill keep an eye peeled for your next vid. be safe an take care Matt 👋🤓
Thanks for the lure reviews. I’ll just stick with my River2Sea perch for now :). You got some nice ones on it…I wonder if you would have picked up more with a lighter sounding/smaller Plopper? I’ve noticed some days they like the big loud thump, some days they want that high pitched quicker sound..so much fun.
It's definitely the angle of retrieve that makes that double plopper not run. Having the line tie in that location causes the front of the bait to rise and stop spinning.
I enjoy fishing with whopper ploppers but have never caught a single fish on one 😂. Have that same lure Matt. Just sits in the tackle box. Update: I went out today, grabbed the 75 plopper (perch color) and caught a 24 3/4 in Pike! the skunk is off my ploppers! whooo!
Typical BPS lure haha. Your popper vids are usually hot and heavy. As often as you fish them, I highly recommend you try the Luxxe Avenge Prop 70. You should definitely grab one. It's one of my 3 favorite, most productive top water smallie baits. Would be awesome to see you using tossing it in one of your future videos. You won't be disappointed!
Ive been watching your videos - I love them and the way you just flip the lures - it looks so effortless! Please point me to some videos explaining your technique.
HARD to find another UA-camr that makes you feel like you're literally sitting in the kayak like this guy does 👏
well said dude 👊🙂
When that tankbass hit, my laptop got yanked off the desk
Yeah i'm fishing vicariously through this guy while my elbow is jacked. :(
G.O.A.T.
He’s my favorite
When Matt enters the water, the theme music from Jaws should be playing! The lures are actually made to catch the fisherman.
Of course, all lures catch way more fishermen than fish!
Fishing new lures is half the fun!
@@kaioken6969,
And picking them out!
You can't judge a lure on a few hours of casting, but I get what you mean.
Much more fun when u make your own. Love what I do
Beautiful saturday morning with mug of coffee and yak fishing for smallies...👍🇺🇸🍻

Good that you had two of those double down ploppers. They can keep each other company in the dumpster.
Another amazing video from the best yak angler on the platform 💯💯🔥🔥
Dude the way you say smallies is so zen and puts a smile on my face every time
Great to see the old yak! When not hearing the double plopper I appreciate the water on the oars. Thanks, Angler
100+ in SW Idaho makes for short days on the water. Your content has become my vicarious excursion. Thanks for that.
Thank you. Your videos are the best compensation for not having own time to fish.
The places you fish look amazing, never see another angler. I watch your vids during work an gets me amped to go out on the weekend. 👍
At 4:34 i heard the intro to ACDC’s Hell’s Bells. Hope you don’t get copystruck Matt! Awesome as always, and thanks for taking us along.
I should have started complaining about it, probably would have triggered a big pike or muskie strike lol

I did too. Went through a long bout of drinking and depression. I really miss fishing.

This makes me want to get out on my kayak and go for pike and bass! Great video man

Thank you for the awesome videos! The Pelican lake, MN smallies were absolutely crushing my perch plopper the other day.

Happy birthday to me! Great way to spend a morning after not catching anything lol
Greetings from Poland :D Tomorrow Carp fishing for me :D
I’m going to agree on the lure. W.P. 75 would be a better choice from what I have seen in your videos where you used one. Thanks for taking me along.
