I been streaming and playing this game for the last week and have had a blast and the other 2 people I bought the game for have had a lot of fun as well. The game is not perfect but it is still superfun playing time trials and online.
@@Dyl469 Taking into account the fact how long the Milestone has been sitting on it, how many parts have already been created, it can be argued (taking into account physics). Maybe they hired a marketing guy who tells them "it can't be too hard or it won't sell", or they just stalled with their approach to physics. Starting from MotoGP15 there is a parameter like SkidLeanAngle, if you lower it or set it to 0, this "throttle gyro" effect works almost identically to MGP23.
I will be getting Ride 5 first. There's several good titles in other game categories that will be released this year, so I'm just unwilling to pay for games that will be collecting dust. I look for main games that I actually want to play, and at least so far think I will be more satisfied with Ride 5. I know it can be more like a Ride 4.5 and it's better to have an improvement than nothing at all. TT Isle of Man 3 was just a 100% no go for me, and there aren't all that many titles in this category to begin with. Ride 5 is pretty much it for me, and all it is at this point is to wait for that release in about 2 months.
it's like Milestone giveth and Milestone taketh away. We get new features and improvements, and lose features like extra content ... um, what? I like the new handling and with the DYL469 setup method the bikes are much nicer to ride, across all classes. Better turn in, tracks better on the inside of the turn and when the throttle picks up its more manageable. Online is chaotic as ever but haven't been able to try the new Live format yet, just multiplayer. AI is an issue - I recently experimented by playing MotoGP14, 17, 19 and 23 back to back in one afternoon, and the AI in 23 is definitely a bit more crazy, making mad lunges, going for gaps that aren't there, swarming more lines through corners plus being inconsistent from track to track. That needs a tweak, so a patch is in order for a few issues plus some DLC would be welcomed.
Nice review Dyl. I've skipped 23 and I'm glad I did. Main problem is the AI which is abysmal and seems to get worse every year. Another year...another cash grab!
great vid dyl, not sure about anyone else but my career im currently in moto 2 and the game with just not give me enough fuel to finish a race even when i max fill the tank anyone else had this ?
@@TheFredster32 isnt the braking in ride 4 pretty good? for me they need to balance the bike, if i ride all bikes to the limits where i drift them and play on 120% AI etc. some bikes are just too op on the corners etc.
MotoGP 23 is the best you will get tbh and I rate it higher than Dylan even if it has it's small annoyances, it is still really fun and I doubt you will dislike it if you do buy it. Otherwise get Ride 4 cheap or wait for Ride 5 in August.

@@jbdjbd8922 The AI is not really dumb it's just that it's hard coded to ride perfect. Like they never crash with each other as far as I can see, they ride in a long line and if you brake a bit too early they usually rear you hard so you crash. I do however play mostly online and time trials but if career mode is your main part of the game then maybe that could be a deal-breaker. You can of course always set AI to whatever you want so they will drive very slow or be more challenging. Another reviewer said it quite good he said that the AI was good this year because you can't really beat 120%. He meant that an AI you can beat becomes boring and he always want the AI to be so strong that you always get a challenge and if that means only reaching 100% AI difficulty and not 120% so be it. It's just the obsession of beating the hardest AI and not being able to do it that also piss people off. I do agree with him though, beating 120% AI also get boring quick, you get ahead and they can never really beat you.
@@Dyl469 i only played 2021 and onwards. The brake is good and so is the acceleration(drifting) but my problem is that the bike crash too easily with minimum contact AND the ai dont respect a block pass. Does 2020 havw the same problem?
So what would be your recommendation? Wait for they fix the bugs and AI? Would that be enough to recommend it? How high are the chances they will fix it soon? Actually I was thinking of buying it (my first MotoGP game).. if not buying this, which of the older games your would recommend?

I would be interested in knowing what you would want to be improved for it to be more sim because I feel like their constant steps to make it more sim is what have ruined the fun factor fully since GP 20? I do find this way more fun and I would probably give it a 8 out of 10 but mostly for the online play that is quite fun and the events. I haven't tried career or raced much against AI but I know they are always annoying riding in a straight line and crash you in the back if you are a tiny bit too slow. Other than that I do enjoy it a lot, I still question the standing up on throttle physic, realism or not it feels more like a boring mechanic to have in the game overall so I think it actually should be removed or toned down a lot. It is nice to have a bit when wanting to save the bike from oversteering a bit but other than that I find it mostly annoying. Graphics are beautiful and coming from 20 I think it's a pleasure to ride around the tracks with such high fidelity of the riders and the tracks. I still wish for more sens of speed as usual even if it is better than 21 and 22 for me but no where near Ride 4. Also braking I wish was a bit stronger so you didn't need to brake 2 years before a turn, other than that it's a solid game and recommended from me. @@Do.Christ I do agree the overall package is at most a 7 since I feel menus are still so awkward, there could be more side content like some fantasy made tracks and other game modes to keep you interested. It is a really barebones game overall and it just stays barebones year after year. It's like they leave all the fun stuff to Ride 4 but I feel that approach is a bit boring and bad overall. Especially since comparing MotoGP 07 the last one from Climax Racing and THQ, it had so much more with skillpoints for the bikes which you got from finishing challenges for bronze, silver and gold medals, sim setting from 20% to 100% or something like that making it way more sensitive and difficult. It had fantasy stages, extreme bike riding in city tracks that was really cool. It was just a game that kept growing and then Milestones took over license and it has just been nerfed down to just GP and their tracks and nothing else and it never ever change from year to year pretty much. Climax did so many changes each version and Milestone just seem content on changing physics each year. I mean find good physics and stop tampering with them every year. We don't need constant new physics especially when they are broken every other game released.

The issue for me is the way they bulid on to the game each year,the biggest issues are the foundations are wrong and no amount of tweaking on top of that will make it a realistic handling bike game,the whole suspension simulation is done wrong and that is critical in terms of everything being right from that point,for me they need to take 18 -24 months to move to the unreal engine 5 and start from scratch and then maybe we might a decent game,but that is never going to happen which means we will continue to get these mediocre games in the coming years,I said after GP22 I wasn't buying 23,I should of stuck to my guns really... I'll probably still appear online the odd time to make a video or 2
Ai is an issue, career mode got samey very quick, online to many people smashing through you with to quick respawn times. I like the physics though and have spent most my time on time trial. It deffo lacks content and feels unfinished.
We should stop giving MotoGP games a 'simulator'-name to it. We are playing on controllers. Some might even be playing on keyboards on PC. Now, after we stop to pretend we are playing on anything else than controllers; this game still sucks. It is literally impossible to get 2 perfect corners in a row in this game. I could live with the stoppies in the past and the sliding rears, but whatever they made this year..... I have no name for it but: "Undriveable".
Not again. The A.I. being on a different handling model ruins the game. In 2022 They brake too early then tear round the corner at unmatchable speeds. No fun to race the A.I. at all.
At this point I just wish for someone else to take the license from Milestone. Such mediocre levels of attention and guts to release a game at this level it's not possible or acceptable.
This game is so g damn boring the career is literally 0. You do nothing. The different classes were fun from 2022. The handling was way better. After patches i feel im fighting the bike now. It literally will now go where it thinks it should. Its infuriating. Plus the moto go bikez have 0 brakes and wobnles even after the slightest misturn or mis brake. Its quite awful. 2023 was fun at launch but after the patches its god awful.

originally i gave it a 5 but felt i was a tad bit harsh, a 4 or 5 out of 10 is by no means wrong tho

Physics ideally should be like Ride 4, but I think the braking and grip was a big issue for me in 4, so hopefully they get that resolved.

Fun for me is physics that are realistic. Assists are always available for others. The game should get a 7 for what it does have and done well.
