Every Milestone bike game has huge potential which is what’s so frustrating but they all have huge flaws. They fix one thing for the next release but ruin something else. You’d think they could use all the feedback from the community over the years and make a game the majority would be happy with.

Funny, it is the same with both Milestone Hot Wheels games.
      They are really good!
But have small problems. Or big sometimes.
They fix something. But let others thigs unfixed despite all the feedback. Or maybe even breake something.

I would literally pay a monthly subscription to play a MotoGP game that just gets updated with every change especially during season and from one year to another.
It will have a ton more people play and they will actually have time to fix and add stuff...

Agreed, I've mentioned in another video that I went back to GP21. Milestone is just spinning too many freaking plates, so it's pointless to hope that they'll fix a core issue such as AI for GP23 during the patch cycle, you'll just have to hope and pray something as fundamental as that will get fixed for GP24. Unironically, the Hotwheels game is probably their most polished game they've ever released

It's always been the AI for me. The old Namco games on PS2 weren't particularly realistic on the physics front but the actual racing was so much fun.

Man this is the most accurate review ever made for the last decade in Milestone. They can't keep going forever and overwrite the same base game over and over. They kinda found some balance in 20/21 but again, the last 2 releases have been the most terrible ever made, I think that even the sales had a negative impact and at this point I hope that some other softwarehouse could be licensed to create a decent MotoGP game. Long live to GP Bikes ❤

The day that I bought this game I tried riding a 35% length race on Phillip Island. I was struggling even with REWINDS on, I brought it down to 80%, still a struggle. You have next to no control over the colors of your custom liveries, the historic bikes are gone, unrealistic tire consumption, the list goes on and on. I knew straight away that I hated it, and I was surprised that no one spoke up about it at this time amid the overhype. While I will be getting Ride 5 for the new bikes and tracks, since I personally love Ride 4, I have officially given up on Milestone and will be doing GP20 and GP Bikes from this point forth. GP Bikes, realisticly, is the sweet spot development style where Milestone and Dorna need to be.

I have been watching you since Gp 20 or 21. I get what you saying but the problem is no racing or sports game will be realistic cause it won't sell. The way you feel about this game is the way I felt about the NHL series they almost got the game being a sim hockey experience but it didn't sell. I guess with all games you can play now the fans that want a sim game is very few. When I picked up MotoGP 18 it was the hardest game to learn on a controller for me and I almost gave up on it. I tried 19 20 21 22 but I couldn't put too much learning into the series cause I play all 5 major sports games and play F1, HEAT 5, WRC, and this (MotoGP). I play on all-star in sports and in racing I play on medium with some assist so I really don't have the time to master all those games on hard difficulty but for some reason, I'm really enjoying MotoGP 23 the most from the previous games don't know what they did with the assist that I even started a career while before all I did was play online and practice but couldn't get good enough that I would have fun in career mode. Been playing MotoGP 23 all day since I just bought it in the morning for 10 bucks. It's on sale and I used my Microsoft Rewards points and ended up only paying 10 bucks :) The best part of 23 is that my kid that is 12 yr old was playing also and it was way easier than the past games for him and he actually played almost half the day along with me. From the reviews on Xbox ppl seem to enjoy it (4 of 5 stars) and my kid and I are also enjoying it.

It is an arcade racer game and always has been. Most people play it in arcade mode yet seem to want it to behave like a simulation. Milestones is all about making money and having the licenses and advertising etc. Having a simulation with a GPL style learning curve would put many people off and unfortunately the majority rule.

I must be an outlier here!? Initially, I really didn't think much of the game. Post patch. However, I've been enjoying playing 2023, particularly the moto 3 tweaks. The ai still leaves a lot to be desired and is very robotic, but I find that with all of milestones games (and racing games in general, to be fair)

I couldn't agree with you more that yearly releases are the enemy of good games. The frustrating thing is that it has been done before in the racing genre. Look at Asetto Corsa Competizione. It is regarded as the hands down best GT3 sim on the market with regular support and each annual season update of the Blancpain championship with the next gen of cars comes through as an update rather than a new release of the game.
Edit: To add to the fire, I'm 99% sure the devs don't test their own games or they are just horrible at their own games that they can't even properly test AI changes...

I fully agree. The physics are just not up to scratch. I don't feel connected to the bikes. The riding experience feels your floating and the tyres just don't feel connected to the tar. They can learn something from Pibiso, GPBikes. The replays don't work, the game is jerky. Like you say it has gone from bad to worse and they just don't want to listen to their clients, it seems. I would rather spend hours on GPBikes with no AI than play MotoGP. This is the same with SBK 22. Every new release I think they are going to get it right, but then disappointed. I will not buy it. I pay in South Africa Rands, so do the math. I am very cross with myself that I bought MotoGP 22 and SBK 22. I will be frank, I installed a crack version of MotoGP 23 and tried it for a couple of days and uninstalled it, as I will not waste my money again until they get it right. I have been playing their games for many years and very disappointed. I have uninstalled MotoGP 22 and will not install it again. I tried SBK 22 again and will uninstall it. I would rather play GPBikes and have now bought myself a steering wheel and now having more fun with 4 wheel racing games and sims. I hope they make changes in the near future. As a motorcycle & Rossi fanatic and an actual motorcycle superbike (GSXR 1000) driver for many years, I am extremely disappointed. Yes I am almost 56 years old and still play games, as I am young at heart but the rest seems to be history............Milestone............sort out your sh.....t!!!

Essentially, the only real solution is an Rfactor-type game which combines every corner of bike content into one game, blocking each major series behind a paid DLC with the exception of a bit of free content. It would, in a way, be similar to the Ride series but with significantly more microtransactions and no repeated purchase of games. This is definitely the more plausible solution, but it has some major flaws to it. Namely, it would have to include street-legal bikes, race bikes, and track bikes all in the same game, and plenty of tracks which MotoGP, WSBK, and other Dorna series doesn't include. Dorna would never allow their series to race on most of the tracks that would be in the game, and restricting official series to those series' content in an Rfactor-type game would take away the huge 'sandbox' selling point.
Unless by some divine miracle, things are going to stay just as they are. Each new annual release will be the same old game with some new flagship feature that won't work half the time. Our only real hope is that the first game on UE5 will be a good platform for future releases.

As someone who rode bikes for 25 years and raced 1000cc, I own every Moto GP game from 13 all the way to 22. 19 is easily the most realistic and best game overall. 20 is still really good but one or two tweaks to handling allow you to take corners unrealistically on the limit, also AI is unrealistically aggressive where it is pretty much bang on in 19. 21 is the worse game of the lot and 22 is just not as good as 19 or 20. I've not paid more than a fiver for any of them and don't intend too until they can guarantee is decent game. Back in the Playstation 2 and xbox days I used to pay full price on release but after buying 09/10 on release for my 360 and it being so bad after the previous 06, 07 and 08 I've never bought any game for full price on release since. I am one of those people that rarely gives industries, let alone companies a second chance. The games I play the most are free with excellent online support so there's not many reasons to pay for any games at all really.

There making Moto GP games that don't behave or sound anything close to Moto GP bike's.
They do have the time and the resources.
    3 simple areas
    Physics
    Sound
    Circuits
This should be where they concentrate the most
Unfortunately they dont have a solid physics foundation
Unfortunately nobody in the sound department wants to add realistic sounds
Unfortunately the tracks are completely dead and its a copy paste
12 months is plenty for what little is released
85% is a copy and paste the lighting gets tweaked
Even the menu is a disaster and feels lazy and unfinished.
I bought 23 for 29.99eu 2 days ago hoping it would be fun and its a broken mess in terms of bike behaviour

They should be ashamed of themselves F milestone

I still have not purchased any og the MotoGP games because I just feel it isn't that much different from the Ride games. Personally I just want one main game, so purchasing both is out of the question. I will purchase Ride 5, and I at least have actual hopes for that title. I feel most players expect way too much of new titles in general, and thus will be dissapointed with Ride 5 given it's more of a polished contender than brand spanking new.
Anything that is just better than in Ride 4 is a bonus to me, so I'm going to set the bar low and take it from there. Personally my main priority is how it feels to play, so I'm going to just start playing around with the settings to find the actual capabilities within this new title. What most have seen by now from gameplay is to be taken lightly, because most of it was pretty stock bikes, stock setup, too much electronic aids and so on as well as first time playing a new title. Mentions of understeer and so on is just pointless, because there are many reasons for that and if someone then assume all bikes in any situation with any setting will just understeer, should try to avoid these games all together.
Anyone need time with the game and hours of trial and error to get a feel for this and that, and it is like that for anything that is new...

  • @bangboats3557

There is a mentality that affects a lot of corporations these days; of always seeming to go forward and never looking back. Milestone and HRC both fall into this. Honda used to have a good MotoGP bike, now they have a shit bike, but will they go back and look at the old bike, see why worked and try to develop forward from it? No, they keep "fixing" the bike they have, refusing to believe that you cannot make a silk purse from a Sow's ear.
Milestone are also suffering of the problem of working to a license, because it constraints the timeframe you have to develop the game. And once again they keep working on what we have now and trying to bring it forward, in the process bring through some of the problems and issues that never get addressed, but also somehow managing to fix one thing and then break something else.
Yet MotoGP21 was a better game with fewer problems than now, would milestone think to go back and look at that game and then develop forward from it? No. Never looking back, only looking forward, puts corporations into a kind of tunnel vision mentality.
This year's game I don't mind too much, it feels better, but the AI is now ridiculous!. The curbs are still an issue and have been for several versions, I start to wonder have they been made that way deliberately for the E-sport championships to keep people off the curbs? Because back before we had E-sports, the curbs were not that bad.
As you know Dylan, I'm a big fan of Moto GP 17 because I believe with all the work they put into their own in-house engine it was the one where they were finally really starting to tie it all together.
I'm not been happy with the switch to the unreal five engine, although I think MGP21 which I recently played was the best off the lot, but now they are backsliding.
It's not easy to build a licensed game every year because unless the sport you are Representing changes dramatically from year to year, there's not a lot new. So to simply release the visual differences and so forth each year would have endless complaints from the player base about new releases being just cut and paste.
So they try things, new things each time, sometimes they work sometimes they don't.
It's just the overall lack of consistency that I think annoys people.
Anyway you said you were going to have a retro look back at GP 21 maybe do some videos, so I'll be very interested to get your thoughts on how it plays now, to how you sort of remember because you put out a lot of content for that version.

I don't think it is that bad and they could definitely fix it on Unreal 4. It's just settings at the end of the day. In my opinion 23 feel better than all GP so far including 20 that I loved.
The understeer is heavy and the game is not perfect but you get used to it and then it feel way more meaty and real than all other GP so far. 20 was fun but going back it feels cheap and sound quite bad. 21 and 22 were skiddish and floaty with no brake force and very essy to fall over, just boring in my opinion to lean on the brakes around the whole track.
My biggest problem with GP is no crossplay with consoles and PC, that should be forbidden in 2023 since the playerbase is so small. We need all consoles to be able to play with each other and with PC. It's so sad to see the game dead online before it barely launch.

@@Dyl469 Yeah the whole every year template suck, this game should be on a 3 year cycle with DLC yearly to update for seasons of IRL GP. That way multiplayer would grow more and be healthier. Now some people stay on 21 and 22 and then some buy 23 so multiplayer suck across all games. That is why Ride 5 usually are better online but I heard they once again will not do crossplay on Ride 5 either. So instead of combining all consoles and PC we are alone on Pc.
