how did Chip not know Whizzer going down was about sex... like he literally had to sing "He rubs my neck I rub his thigh" and "He starts to blow I start to fight" and bro still didn't know
i love how the audience is almost entirely older Broadway enjoyers, than there is me sitting at my desk in the middle of the night at 16 watching this.
I can't believe people didn't know Whizzer's Going Down was abt sex. Idk why but to me it seemed pretty obvious "he starts to blow I start fight" "he's on his knees I'm laying flat" "he takes me in his arms"
"he's on his knees / i'm lying flat" they could be in different areas in a room... like marvin is lying on the bed and whizzer is over kneeling on the carpet.
I know for a fact Allison Fraser is the nice grandma who likes singing to you and has random caramel candy that spawns around her house that she offers to you Chip Ziens has to be the cool kinda crazy grandfather he gets you candy and lets you stay up late when you stay at his house William Finn is the grumpy grandpa that everyone loves and he tells funny jokes And Mary testa is the cool grandma who tells you stories from when they were younger
26:55-27:11 I find it so funny that Bill Finn regards the published version of In Trousers as "the stupid version" when, to my knowledge, it's the only version of the show people can license and perform. Most productions and concerts found on UA-cam and even the recent In Trousers concert performed at 54 below is based on the material from the 1985 revival.
@@gravelfilledSoap It’s definitely not a perfect version of the show (I don’t like the splitting of Marvin’s Giddy Seizures and I miss both My Chance to Survive the Night and Marvin Takes a Victory Shower being included in the score), but I do think there were some merits to a few of the revisions that helped make it feel whole and complete, especially as the first part of the Marvin musicals.
I didn't like it very much 🙃 I just liked how the original is very confusing. I like having to analyze the things I like and it made more sense because Marvin was confused and troubled himself 😅 I felt so sad they literally removed all my favorite songs
bill finn seems like your grouchy grandfather that you still love, and chip zien seems like your jazzy cool grandfather that always gives you candy
21:55 Chip discusses his misinterpretation of Whizzer Going Down 😂
I think about this a lot
Florida
This is the only reason I come here
I literally had like that exact train of thoughts
I realized what it was about when I saw an animatic of it 😓😓

i am so happy this exists
"to florida?" i'm yeLLING
Is no one gonna talk about how Trina originally was gonna kill herself in your lips and me reprise that is so graphic omg
The fact that there was an in trousers reunion panel and I never knew about it feels like a personal injustice.
whizzer is going to Orlando, Florida
“to florida?” I’m fuckiNG YELLING
There’s never gonna be a cast the same as the in trousers cast

Maybe they thought Marvin and Wizzer were just very good friends

Man I really love the 1985 version, and I’m very conflicted at the fact that not even the creator of the musical likes it

@@theassortedhobbyisthonestly the only thing that I like about the 1985 version is I feel him slipping away, it is absolutely wonderful.

I don’t know if anyone’s still coming back to this video but if anyone know where I can find an In Trousers vinyl album could you let me know
