@@TOx1CC yeah sure. I want a recreation video of F4 phantoms Wild Weasel squadron vs Vietcong SAM missiles from the Vietnam War. That's a cool story. This video reminded me of that.
So...80km is roughly 43 nautical miles. If you are at 300m (1,000ft) altitude, the MPQ-53 radar horizon on you should be around 14nm. What is interesting is that someone with ESM (Il-22 or A-50U, possibly a Krahsuka) is 'hearing' the secondary guidance channel (X-Band) come up, separate from the C-Band Patriot engagement radar. That indicates a PAC-2 GEM-T or GEM-C missile running TVM-SARH. Yet, if the Fullback's pilot has the jet at 25,000ft (UMPK typical release altitude for a 15-18nm gliding flyout) and immediately jettisons his ordnance, the Su-34 should be able, with a 20,000fpm descent rate, to get below the Patriot RS engagement cone before the Mach 4 = .73nm/min PAC-2 can complete its ~59 second time of flight to get to him. With little effort. i.e. The Hell Duck should be able to get to low level, breaking radar track, long before the Patriot can complete its intercept. And certainly before the second salvo of missiles can complete the same or longer distance. Given how much G-strain we hear, as late in the recording, something is being edited or wrongly interpreted here. Were part of the missile launches in fact PAC-3? Was the LS seriously displaced, forward from the RS?
Su-34 might not want to go below angels 20 because then it comes under fire from other shorter range defense systems including Manpads. There might be other tracking stations further out that relays information to the patriot missile. But I have no idea if Ukraine this networking technology. Also at what range does the missile start to guide itself?
@@WinchesterDelta1 What you say makes sense, but my understanding, limited as it is, was that the Su-34 were being restricted to frontal use as BAI platforms and not going deep because the UMPK is not the 60-70km capable system (from 45,000ft) that they wanted it to be and without an added propulsor, the VKS were not interested in risking their equivalent to our F-15E, crossing the FLOC. There should not be any MPAD on the Russian side of the line. We know that the Ukrainians use the MPQ-64 Sentinel radar which is a small, X-Band, FAAD system, designed to gapfill at low level, for NASAM and Stinger. But does it have integration with the Patriot site? I dunno. It's only got about 15-20nm of range on a good day and IBCS was only approved for full rate production last year. Poland has this capability, with the British CAMM missile. But not Ukraine. As for lockon range...Only PAC-3 has the active seeker and it's Ka band which is not as longranging as X-Band. But it must be pretty good as it's designed to engage ballistic targets closing at up to 2 miles per second. That would actually suggest better than the AMRAAM seeker which is ~12nm. PAC-3 is a lot bigger missile, so it likely has the volume, antenna area and electrical power to push a powerful beam. What seems strange is that the Ukrainians would risk the Patriot batteries so close to the front but not the NASAMS. NASAMS, with the AMRAAM-ER, will reach 20,000ft and is also a pretty zippy missile, albeit over shorter ranges. It is also substantively cheap. Being little more than a universal box launcher on a truck (far more suitable for use than a trailer mounted TEL, if you are that close to Iskander and Smerch...) So if you fly right up to FLOC or FSCL and release the UMPK from there... You could get bit. MPQ-53 is a very powerful radar. MPQ-65 is almost 50% more so than the 53. It would be very hard to mistake one for the other or for the MPQ-64. And the AMRAAM seeker is unique again (very high power X-Band set-on), so you're left wondering, is this a close-in missile being given guidance from a very far away engagement radar? If so, where is the SAP-14 carrying escort jammer Su-34? Where are the Su-35 Weasels with Kh-31? It's even been stated that the Buk-M3 is being used against Patriots themselves. There are solutions to this problem but, 'as described' the narrative doesn't make sense for the depth of penetration or nature of the PAC-2/Fullback intercept geometry at the opening of the engagement.
My understanding is that the SU-34 was jumped by the oldest trick in the IADS book - Patriot was holding off emissions, until the aircraft was declared in the kill zone by the EWR command center. That would be the best explanation for the complex evasions, instead of just hitting the throttles and gently turning away. And if you closely inspect this channel - the recreation, is cinematic at best. Dodging 6 SAMs in a Viper still sounds more impressive :D
The heavy breathing is what pilots have to do to keep the blood and oxygen in the brain with the G forces they have to work with, it's almost crazy how much pressure they have not to pass out, that's why pilots go through strenuous medicals before they can fly these crazy machines
There is a guy in the Hungarian army who managed to with-stand 9G for 30 second in a simulation. Did it in 2004 and repeated the same move around 2017. He's a gripen pilot, but still insane
I hope after that Russian Air Force will begin working on upgrading the Su-34s engines and EW systems. They are working on installing AL-41F1S into Su-30SM and so this upgrade isn't impossible for SU-34.
I think he had more speed than you see on this simulation and did even more aggressive maneuvers. The higher the speed of the aircraft the higher the G's.
Why the pilot maneuvers so early left and right loosing energy with the missile so far? shouldn't it be safer to go away straight down as fast as possible to make missile loose energy in denser atmosphere? and get defensive only if missile gets near him?
@@ThePretender1 That's why I edited it that way, but irl I don't know if he was just catching his breath or actually manoeuvering, we'll never know for sure until video recording
Because it can regain it's speed and the missile can't. You want to defend as early as possible. How earlier you defend how more the incoming missile has to correct.
Not at these distance you only need descend to unlock the Patriot station, the misile seeker only IS acurate in short range, IS the station at first Who guided the missile.
Did you try to copy the range of the launches? I believe they first called out 80km on the first missile. Also, doesn't make sense for the Su-34 to be in afterburner on the way to combat, additionally, according to the controller it wasn't in max rpm until he instructed the pilot to do so.
Didn't the Russians call it an obsolete missile system that would be easily overcome? Apparently Russian military officials disagree seeing how a successful evasion became a incredible achievement.

Given how much G-strain we hear, as late in the recording, something is being edited or wrongly interpreted here. Were part of the missile launches in fact PAC-3?
Was the LS seriously displaced, forward from the RS?
@@xyz-hj6ul the video is not accurate, take it more as a cinematic from the recording
Su-34 might not want to go below angels 20 because then it comes under fire from other shorter range defense systems including Manpads.
There might be other tracking stations further out that relays information to the patriot missile. But I have no idea if Ukraine this networking technology.
Also at what range does the missile start to guide itself?
@@WinchesterDelta1
What you say makes sense, but my understanding, limited as it is, was that the Su-34 were being restricted to frontal use as BAI platforms and not going deep because the UMPK is not the 60-70km capable system (from 45,000ft) that they wanted it to be and without an added propulsor, the VKS were not interested in risking their equivalent to our F-15E, crossing the FLOC.
Being little more than a universal box launcher on a truck (far more suitable for use than a trailer mounted TEL, if you are that close to Iskander and Smerch...)
So if you fly right up to FLOC or FSCL and release the UMPK from there...
Yeah! Hell Duck sounds great!
Dodging 6 SAMs in a Viper still sounds more impressive :D
amazing aircraft!!!
The Su-34 is a twin seat bomber. To evade multiple Patriot missiles is saying something.
Great Pilots!
The Ghost of Kiev must have been on siesta in St Tropez.
Beautiful, well done!
@@lazaarclubb6981 thank you!
I wouldn't stress myself. Just eject from the jet lol.
what air-to-air missiles can it carry?
Would've been even better with just the cockpit view
Why?
@@Overneed-Belkan-Witch more immersive
@@wdaswwqads no
Cockpit view is not closer to realism as the Su-34 cockpit has pilots sitting side by side.
He's a gripen pilot,but still insane
Will it be after su-27SM or su-24?
Awesome recording.
Thanks!
Не думал что буду смотреть третью мировую войну в прямом эфире каждый день
awesome!
This is the model that apparently has a mini kitchen on board....and still evading like a boss.
I also felt the adrenaline, perhaps one percent of that experienced by those..
Dang !!! SU 34 Duckling evaded two Patriot missile?
three or more irl
wasn't he supposedly flying very low? why is this high?
Парень, это было круто. Ни добавить ни убавить. 👍🤙👍
Bravo băieți!
Cool, shame about the 27 cockpit tho
@@iota515 yeah can't do much with that mod, it's just external visual
I hope after that Russian Air Force will begin working on upgrading the Su-34s engines and EW systems. They are working on installing AL-41F1S into Su-30SM and so this upgrade isn't impossible for SU-34.
I think he had more speed than you see on this simulation and did even more aggressive maneuvers. The higher the speed of the aircraft the higher the G's.
Why the pilot maneuvers so early left and right loosing energy with the missile so far? shouldn't it be safer to go away straight down as fast as possible to make missile loose energy in denser atmosphere? and get defensive only if missile gets near him?
for cinematic purposes, its not meant to be 1:1
@@TOx1CC but in the audio looks like he's pulling all the G's you showed in the video.
@@Lukyan no, it's meant to be a cinematic more than 1:1

Translation is a bit not right. For example, pilot says that he “manoeuvres to right”, it says “Evade” and makes left manoeuvre
What a story to tell!!
Woooo brave pilots
SU34 should bea twin seater side by side right ?
correct! read description
Didn't the Russians call it an obsolete missile system that would be easily overcome? Apparently Russian military officials disagree seeing how a successful evasion became a incredible achievement.
the thing is that no military official said it was an "incredible achievement", only people that saw it called it that.

Absolutely the plane we see is a su34 but the cockpit we are seeing is su27 cockpit but it is ok.🇷🇺
