Seriously? Sarah, you're already an art teacher, inter alia. Your drawings are lovely and just get lovelier. For a shaky beginner like me, instead of encouraging me, this video just makes me feel discouraged, and that there's no point in my even trying to start. Thanks anyway.
Oh my, how I love that round boro piece behind you!!!! And now to your sketching.....I am just learning to paint and draw so this video is very helpful and certainly encouraging. Thank you Sarah, as always.
Your 365 page sketching/drawing book was very fun and interesting to see as well as inspiring. I too like to draw and paint and have put it aside for a while to embroider and make quilts. Maybe I can set aside a book for a 3 month trial. Thank you
What a great journey. I had a similar experience to you with my first daily sketch book. I only had A3 40cm x 30cm sketch pad. I fitted 3/4 per drawings per page but the size just stressed me out so I abandon it. Recently, inspired by the needle book I made (thanks Sarah), I cut up the sketch pad pages to a size I like and made my own little book. I always paint/draw with a lot of colour but really want to improve my drawing and contrast skills. I'm now sketching using graphite pencil only, flora and fauna, one sketch per page. After watching your video, I'm fascinated to see what journey I will go on.
Thank you Sarah. I came across this video when I was feeling rather upset / unsettled and I found your voice and artwork really calming and inspiring. I am stitching every day and finding it really enjoyable but I know it would improve if my drawing skills were better. Maybe I will brave putting pencil/colour to paper and try not to be ashamed of my beginner attempts. Your 365 book is wonderful. And it’s always a joy to see Ginger cat. x
Yes this was interesting and enjoyable Sarah. I feel very privileged to have been allowed to see your year of drawing thank you. I'm not sure I could handle it every day but maybe I could manage a couple of times a week or maybe a short timed session each morning or something. I will try. Love Vera in Northern Ireland ❤
What a wonderful task that your friend set you Sarah.... and you rose to the challenge 👏👏. And it was lovely to see your daily progress, although, no sketches of Jonathan??😅💜
Wow Sarah. That’s an amazing years project. I so wish I could draw /paint. I am a retired florist and love anything to do with flowers. An inspiring video. Thankyou.
You got me to find a book like that, (on Amazon), and start drawing. It is something I always wanted to do, but I sucked at it. I found some videos on UA-cam to teach me, and got started with drawing ancient Roman faces, like the emperors, statues, (Julius Ceasar, Marcus Crassus, Augustus, etc.), and also people that the teachers on UA-cam showed how to draw, celebrities, and warriors I found online. (Warriors often have very interesting expressions on their face.) I am yet to draw every day, I honestly don't feel like it every day, but I got better by now, some are even recognizable!! 😂Thank you so much for getting me to try!! Much love to you!!! 🤗❤
You just have to keep doing Jacky and don't judge anything you do (that will just stop you doing it). I find continuous line drawing a great way to learn without getting bogged down in the technical stuff. Quick way to get some drawing done and fill some pieces at the same time
You are a very talented artist and I feel inspired to try drawing. I always think that artists are those people who just seem to do it naturally but I think with some practice I could draw well enough to be satisfied but lack the confidence to try. This video has inspired me. Thank you 🌷
This was so refreshing. I have tried various journals approaches and just like you been intimidated by the beautiful journal or the standard of work in others on whatever website I am following. I liked that you acknowledged it was hard to maintain to start with. Ordered a cheap 365 journal, chose the one where a reviewer complained the paper was too thin based on your observations and to help me just not care what I do. Fingers crossed
I tried this about 10 years ago. After about 20 days I decided I had no talent. Haha Now I do some drawing for my embroidery so it may be a good idea to try it again. This was very informative. Thank you so much. Also love the charity shop piece behind you. So gorgeous. We rarely get things like that in our shops
I would encourage you to keep going ❤❤ I still am not a wonderful artist, but I decided to draw the same things that I really loved stitching over and over until I was happy. Not like hundreds of times, but the same cat in a different scene over the course of a month or so. And by the end I got really good at drawing little house cats! No one starts off good at anything, and there isn't harm in tracing art you like to practice the hand movement to draw it yourself one day!! That's helped me too. I still make wonky eyes sometimes but really practice does make better ❤🎉🎉 good luck 🤞🏻
I have been mulling the idea of drawing every day, not even trying to have finished drawings, just to practice. Your book is just the inspiration I need. My main interest is watercolour but as one artist said, "adding colour does not fix a bad drawing."
Thank you for sharing that. I've learned a lot of embroidery from you, you are a treasure on you tube. I've never had confidence drawing but I always want to do "art". I keep seeing that you just have to have a go and this video really inspired me. Despite having so much more experience, talent and knowledge, you still seem to have the same thoughts as me. Like being afraid to fill the pretty book with anything more than master pieces!! Fingers crossed I can get some skill so I can do some of the things I imagine😂 Thanks again
Skill is something which comes with practice :) So keep going, no matter how wobbly they look. With time you will look back and see how far you have come.
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely drawings. My hubby and I have started sketching outside, we choose different locations local to us and sketch it is improving my skills plus I challenged myself to draw people that don't look like stickmen 😅😊
Your talents absolutely boggle my mind! Thank you for sharing
Such a great accomplishment and learning experience. TFS
Fabulous project in every way!
I always love seeing Ginger cat - regardless of position 🙂
😆
You’re a very talented woman. Thank you for sharing ❤️🦋
I enjoyed getting to see your drawings. You are very talented. I am going to try this. Love getting to see Ginger Cat.
Hi Sarah, I think your drawings and paintings are lovely, you are a very talented lady. 😊

Very interesting Sarah ❤
Wonderful art work!

I have cut sketchbooks down too to make smaller less intimidating ones, find what will help you, it's meant to be enjoyable! 😁
i really enjoyed seeing all the work you have put into your sketchbook, well done! gosh your talents are endless x

You don't need to show anyone, or even look at past ones again yourself if you don't want to! It's just about doing 👍

Alot of times, I did several in one session and then none for a few days
You're art work is stunning . Give me a pencil and my best effort are doodles 😂

I think most practice Helen, lots! Including me...
Sarah, thank you for this. It’s been so inspiring. My drawing skills aren’t great but you’ve inspired me to have a go. I loved seeing your book. X

Yeah, but you can cover a bad drawing with paint (see the page with van Gogh on it!)😁

Lowry made a whole career out of stickmen!
@@sarahhomfraycreates nice one!
Hi Sarah. Have you ever done anything with cyanotype printing - whether cloth or fabric?
Tried a bit on paper, not ventured into fabric. Yet. 😁
