@@ZhannaTsytsynbeing in a class of talented artists & hearing them criticise their amazing artwork…. Then having those same talented artists admire my work. This was both humbling & enlightening and helped me overcome the imposter syndrome 🌷

Because of you and your advice I decided to post a sketch page from my journal to tiktok....with me talking. Which sounds silly but I HATE my voice so for me to put that out there is almost as stressful as posting my art. But you are right how else is my art going to be seen??? My goal isn't really to make loads of money through my art. I'm late in the art game at 42 I'm just now becoming serious and consistent with creating. It's only been 3 months but I want to put out content for beginners, for older beginners. It is so hard to find someone starting out in their journey. Everyone is already accomplished at their art (or at least the ones I see). I want to create a community of people like me just starting out and people that are more advanced than me to give advice and encouragement. I'm trying to be brave, LOL!!!
I'm so touched by your message and SO happy that you posted! 🙌🙌 42 is young! Imagine the wisdom that you have gained over the years and how it will impact your work. Grandma Moses who is an American folk artist started seriously painting at 78yo. She gained popularity in the 50's. This is without modern tools that artists have at their disposal today. You got this and love your mission of starting a community of artists who are just starting out. Art really heals the soul.❤
what you said about how posting online is the opposite of ego-focused really rang true with me. I agree. In this day and age, it's almost impossible to get your art seen without social media. I just finished a daily painting video challenge where I painted a small study and filmed it everyday. It was very beneficial! First of all, because I was spending time painting everyday. While filming, I had to work quickly so the video wouldn't be too long. I didn't have the time to stall and get distracted. It also helped me get faster with my video editing. Before the challenge I had the idea that doing 2 videos per week would be too hard, but now that I did daily videos (for 10 days), twice a week is easy! An added bonus was I got more subscribers and watch time for my channel.

Hello Zhanna. Thank you for being brave and voicing these uncomfortable, possibly awkward feelings that do need discussing. Everyone who creates that I know, either hide themselves away so that they are unknown and then there are others who post everything on their social media pages, the good, the bad and the ugly, daily. What has made sense for me is to keep creating without judging whether I like it or not. Paint, draw, whatever medium I am using without my mind wanting a result. Keep the critic out of the making, allow for the great possibilities to speak. If it doesn’t sit well then I leave it for awhile and get started with another until I feel the nudge to pick up the work and see it fresh once more. I am also painting in small square formats so it is easier to shift from one to another, or stay on one for the day. Some paintings are very fast and others do need to be reassessed with composition etc. Too much planning loses that freshness from the beginning. I am very shy of posting my work out in public. I will get there but do admire you courageous souls who lead the way.
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your studio process. I'm so touched by how this resonated with a fellow artist. It makes me feel like I'm not alone in this. ❤
This video was very helpful for me. I’ve had a lot of trauma in my life and it has kept me from pursuing my art, but I realize by not doing that it’s created much more anxiety in me. I’m so glad I found this video. Thank you.
I'm so glad you found this video helpful. A quote that I have on my pin-board in my studio which serves as a great reminder when I need it, is this: "Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes" - Carl Jung. ❤
I hear you 😘 step by step 💖 you’ve got this 👍 A question I have on my fridge… ‘What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?’ 💛🧡❤️💖💜💙💚 It helps put things in perspective for me

I like your work, your spirit, your values, your recognition of connecting with others. Thank you. Community is paramount, and challenging for a reclusive. Where would you place yourself on the introversion-extroversion scale?
Thank you so much for watching. Yes, community is paramount. I would say I am definitely more introverted. I absolutely cannot live without my alone time. That being said, when I'm with the right company, having discussions of ideas that really matter to me, I can have those for hours without needing a break. I've found that the scale tips based on my genuine engagement. At parties with small talk, I'm not the best at that and definitely will need a few days alone to decompress.
@@ZhannaTsytsyn Bingo, bingo, bingo! For an introvert, your extrovert is quite convincing. You are spot on with, "...with the right company, having discussions of ideas that really matter to me, I can have those for hours..." Thanks for inspiring all the rest of us introverts.
@anonymousXmathematician 😅 because I genuinely enjoy these topics for videos, they're fun to make, I feel like I'm just talking with an art friend about things I'm actually thinking.
Thank you for the motivating and insightful words in this convo-type of video. Trust in yourself is essential, and personally, it is something that I'm still in the process of building it in myself. Glad you also talk about using social media to put yourself out there, build a community of people who love and share art, and to set intention of using it and your 'why' of making art. It feels new and sincere to listen, and it is the advice I needed as I navigate myself as an artist who also uses UA-cam and other platforms to connect with people.
Great video! I rarely watch artist advice on business videos anymore. I figured most of them couldn't get their career going so now they give advice on how to do it to make money on youtube. I even saw people copy each other's videos down to the font on the thumbnail 😅 Glad i clicked on your video though. It seems to come from a real place. I feel like you actually mean what you say. Also amazing to see your progress on speaking to the camera during this video. First minutes a little wonky and by the end it looks like you've been doing it forever! That was really cool to see.
Hey Chris, I know exactly what you mean about artists giving business advice on YT. Thank you so much for watching the video and for your thoughtful comment. It really means a lot. Glad to hear that it comes across how much more relaxed I was towards the end. 😅 It's a work in progress...

I think you’re doing fantastic on your videos. It’s amazing what you can do when you just say I’m gonna go ahead and do this. Just keep on doing good work and doing your best.
I had comments blocked but I put them back to say this was such an important discussion and very well articulated. I’m 32 and I get constantly annoyed that I don’t “get” social media and that it’s “cringe” if I just keep trying. But we’re all trying at everything and I’m only hurting myself by doing nothing. Thank you! Rad art too 💜
Hello Zhanna, we liked your video and everything u said made sense. I am from Indiaand i understand what you say. Thank you for being honest. Keep posting content like thes. Take care.
Your morning practice inspired me. This summer I wanted to start doing very quick drawings/paintings to capture the essence of a subject, but this is very hard for me because I easily get caught up in details. And I usually only paint for about an hr at night. I think I will try to fit in a morning quick practice and remember to work without judgement of the outcome. Last night I started a quick rendition of a photo that I took that is imperfect as a photo, but intriguing. I still worked methodically (layers) but the results were exciting and it felt really, really good to have the chance to explore the subject. I take a lot of photos to paint that I never get back to, so it made me wonder if I have some repressed creativity?
Inspirational ❤ I am deeply grateful 🙏 this has helped me so much mentally and emotionally to find the courage to face old narratives that are no longer true and perhaps never were 🙏🫶
@Yekel11 what a beautiful comment! I'm so glad you felt inspired. The world needs more creative visionaries who question old paradigms and have the courage to envision a better world. ❤️

Whoa. Last night I put it out there that I needed "help" with work. I am an artist, but I'm also an inventor and I have developed a product that's now for sale. But I'm exhausted and running out of gas. I need help.
This is the first video I watched this morning and this is HELP! Thank you for sharing. You've struck a chord deep down and I'm seeing I had a lousy perspective when it comes to purpose in sharing my work. Thank you for being willing to be honest and share your heart. ❤
@rachelfinder thank you so much for your comment. I love it when this happens. You put it out there, and somehow, the energy aligns in such a way that you find just the right unlock for your expansion. I'm so honored that this video did this for you✨️🌀✨️❤️
I wish you great success!❤
I have never left a comment before, I’ve always been so averse to social media- but you completely changed my perspective about it. I’m a longtime professional artist age 64 and still painting, but felt too shy to post. But you are so right, this is a privilege that so many women have never had that it seems bullshit of me not to try. Thank you for opening my eyes and best of everything to you and your endeavors ❤
@@judychamberlin8910 I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that your comment really means the world to me. I'm so happy that it resonated because we need more voices of women who have lived experience and the wisdom gained from said experiences. You made my day ❤️❤️❤️

I'm so glad you found this video helpful. A quote that I have on my pin-board in my studio which serves as a great reminder when I need it, is this:

Keep making Art 🙏
I'm so happy to hear that you started. Keep going❤
Inspirational ❤ I am deeply grateful 🙏 this has helped me so much mentally and emotionally to find the courage to face old narratives that are no longer true and perhaps never were 🙏🫶
