This had to be insanely cool seeing the London Symphony Orchestra play this. The members may have been completely different than who they were 41 years prior, but that same feeling is still there. The LSO has that Star Wars sound.
As much as I am always in awe of John Williams and his compositions, I must admit that “sound” was slightly missing in the sequel trilogy due to the production recording those scores with the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
@@johnmorris3469 I agree. Although I don't think it's really the Hollywood Studio Symphony musicians that are at fault, it think it has more to do with where it was recorded and Sony just doesn't have the ability to project a big sound because it doesn't have good reverb.
@@TheRandompaint sounds good man really want to go , They have a few shows coming up in jan/feb but with other names I have not heard of lol so curious as to whether a good portion of the show will have star wars
I couldn't get to see this in concert so what a privilege to watch this here. Ok, so it's a bit naughty but what a buzz. THE orchestra for Star Wars, the amazing London Symphony Orchestra. Bravo all!!
If you ever get a chance to see an orchestra play the sound track live to a movie, especially Star Wars, it’s well work the experience. You will not regret it. I took my family to see The Empire Strikes Back with Phenix, Arizona, orchestra, Amazing!
Here's to Maurice Murphy He joined the London Symphony Orchestra in 1977 as Principal Trumpet and his first assignment was to play that opening high E blare that we all have come to love. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Murphy_(musician)
May I ask where you were sitting? This looks like a fantastic seat but can't seem to figure out which that'd be :-D Also, thanks a lot for uploading this!
Those are called streamers (the moving vertical lines) and punches (the white circles), and they’re there to help the conductor hit specific cues. That monitor also shows the current bar number and also has a beat counter, so as long as the conductor’s paying attention it should be pretty difficult to fall out of sync.
Thank you, it was amazing wasn't it. I only filmed these few clips, I just wanted a reminder of the evening and how brilliant the LSO were! I was too busy enjoying the music to film more!
I left after 45 minutes. It wasn't what I was expecting. Didn't do my research. I went to admire the music, not have the movie sounds play over it and compete with the music. Major letdown. The movie should have just been silent.

I would absolutely LOVE to attend one of these, for ANY of the Star Wars movies. Been a fan since age of 5.
There's an orchestra touring as we speak
@@TheRandompaint is it a guarantee they will play a lot of star wars tracks? because I really want to see it live haha
@@vega6773 I actually we went! It's the movie playing on the big screen while the orchestra plays out all the music that they can. Truly unreal

just a small camcorder, nothing will do it justice though, being there you 'feel' the music.
