Spirit hovered over the waters. God said” let there be light.” And on the 6th day God said “let us make man in our image.” Our image. God is plural? Yeah. From the beginning of time, God wants us to know something. He wants us to know that is He is a community and that he made us in the image of a community.
Church fathers have called it the Trinity. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Three persons, one essence. Kinda like the sun, right? The star itself is the Father, the light we see is Jesus, and the warmth, the effect, is the Holy Spirit. Why does that matter, right? Well it’s incredibly encouraging. If God was only one, you wouldn’t really know if he was loving or not. I mean he could love but he would have to make something first. But if God for all eternity existed as a perfect relationship, well then we know, love is at the very essence of who he is, it’s his nature and he didn’t make us because he was lonely he made us as an overflow of the beauty of this relationship that he always had within himself. And making us he’s kinda like come be a part of this party, you know? And what I love is not only that, he doesn’t just call us to a relationship with that community, you know, he calls us into a relationship with his body, the church. And there’s a lot of people who don’t like that, they’re like uh uhh I’m not in a relationship with him, I ain’t in a relationship with her. Jesus is my homeboy, that’s all I need. No. We need each other because, well for a lot of reasons but mainly how else are we ever going to love like God unless we’re forced to love people who don’t deserve it? God love us undeservingly and then he invites us to love the same way and to love the people right in front of us. As John Dunn said “ No Man is an Island” and I know, I know it can be easier on your island, it can be easier living in your shame, it can be easier living in your excuses, it can be easier just living for yourself. But, if we want to participate in the divine, then we need to come off our islands and come back to the shore.

When God is working through you you glow with the pure light of love...there is light in your eyes. The message echoes through your soul. I do see that light in this young man. Please keep shining your light on us.

God's timing is so perfect. He has a plan for every one of us individually, He knew us when we were at our absolute worst and he knows us now and the battles we face daily, he constantly reminds us that he loves us and wants the best for us even when we can't see him. He's so high above us yet he breaks through the sky to comfort us and flood our hearts with his Holy Spirit so that we may feel his love personally.
And though times may get hard remember that he will never forsake you.
He is always here with us even in worst of our days.
Hallelujah! We are saved by the only God that is true and holy.

So true, I used to love to be alone and do everything alone but,God gave us people to make a relationship with them, and with all my friends especially my best friend Nicki I don't think I would want to live this life alone

I love all your videos, they're so inspirational. Watched your Worlds Biggest Small Group ones last night, along with some of your songs/the explanation videos and random videos like the history of TAN ones or the wife ones. Anyways, I love them all because you can be so serious and inspirational sometimes like in these but then you can also be so funny like in the other ones. And sometimes you can be both. I love them all because sometimes I need the serious ones and sometimes I just need to laugh and you can do that. And it's odd because last night I didn't just watch your videos, I listened to some other songs first and somehow ended up on a TAN song again (listened to some last week or the week before, more on that in a second) and then noticed the explanation video of the one and ended up watching that and a bunch of other videos. Anyways, point being I wound up from the songs to the ministry type ones (and humor) and just last week or the week before, my friend told me some songs of yours and others to listen to so I did and the same type of thing happened where I ended up listening to a bunch of songs and/or crying. I really do feel like God's speaking to me or trying to. I'm not entirely sure how to listen and although I feel like I'm sort of "trying" or "listening" and I have been getting closer over the last few months (and He's tried to speak a couple other times too I feel like), I feel like I'm not actually trying or listening, at least not hard enough or truly. It's like "oh yeah, that's a good point" and then I just forget it or go do something stupid again anyways. But on the plus side, I have been really into Christian music lately and really trying to find shows to go to, partly/largely due to my friend, and I might end up seeing you in March and possibly at SoulFest in August (and I'm also really trying to go to Winter Jam but I know you're not playing that) so I suppose that's good. Said friend has been a huge help on my journey but I still feel like I'm nowhere near close enough and sort of severely failing. And actually, last night I really really needed to listen to/watch the songs and videos I did and He knew it so I'm really glad He was able to speak to me like that and help me find you again, and find you right now, and yeah. I just love you guys and you guys have been, so far, a huge help. I could go into a lot more detail and actually explain things but I don't really feel like it publicly on UA-cam and this post is already long enough as it is. And on that note, sorry this post is so long, I really didn't mean for it to be. But yeah, anyways, thank you for everything and I love you.

I've spent years pushing everyone away, isolating from the world, from God even. Just five years ago after years of anorexia and cutting I was so alone I tried to kill myself. I was blessed that God put it on a friend's heart to stop by my place that night because she saved my life, along with a persistent EMT and ICU doc. Now I am twenty eight with a husband and three year old little boy free from the diseases that tried to destroy me. I still fight the urge to push everyone away sometimes, but all it takes is a smile from my son or embrace from my husband and that goes away. I was shown love and Grace when I probably didn't deserve it, and it saved me.
You have a beautiful story of how great our God is! He loves the most undeserving of us... stay blessed.

tenthavenuenorth I will never stop fighting, I have experienced God's love and grace in the darkest times of my life. He has given me the strength to minister and show love to those who feel so lost and alone like I once did. It took me so long to get off my island, to lower the walls and not be afraid to show the scared and broken girl desperately in need of love and grace from others. I have been blessed to have those people who showed me love and patience in those dark times when I least deserved it. Every time I thought I had burned another bridge there they were to extinguish the flame. My struggles have changed over the last couple of years since I was diagnosed with a disease that has caused gut failure. I spend a lot of time in hospital beds, I have lost count of how many surgeries I have had, I depend on a central line in my chest for hydration and IV nutrition, and will eventually need a multi-visceral transplant. Dealing with all of this sometimes makes me feel very lonely and useless to my husband and son. I am constantly praying for the strength not to end up back on that island ever again. Giving up is not an option. Thank you for posting these journals, they really do make a difference to a lot of people. Whenever I am struggling I find myself turning on my TAN playlist. I hope one day to get to see you guys live. Bless you guys for your ministry.

My minds just a tad exploded..
A few years ago I set sail for my own little island. Thankfully I was only there for a short while, and lots of people were definitely praying for me to come outside of myself. Right now, I am praying through this song for someone I met recently, who has become really important to me and whom I care deeply about. Praying that she will see that she doesn't have to be alone, and that she finds the warmth and light in Christ, because I know He is knocking at her door.

This is so amazing! I needed to hear this. You totally inspire me ALL the way! Literally. When you guys came out with The Struggle album, I was going through a struggle and when I listened to that song, it totally hit me. And when it says "Hallelujah We are free to struggle We're not struggling to be free" I realized I am FREE of STRUGGLE, so thank you guys sooooooooooooo much for everything. Love you guys and keep making these video journals. It's always something I need to hear.

P.S.: Who films and edits your video journals? I've noticed that they are carefully thought out and I love the framing patterns. Sorry for being so random. I'm super into making videos when I have time. (which isn't often). My favorite type of video to make is when its focused on God just like your video journals are! :)
Hi my name is Anna I am 19. I have never done drugs, self harmed, or been abused, I have a family and a few friends that love me and care for me very much. But I feel lonely. I struggle with an addiction similar to one I had in the past. I just started college but stay at home instead of in a dorm. I am struggling with school because I lack the motivation and self confidence. I was homeschooled for 8 years so that caused me to do less work and develop more social anxieties. Whenever I am in public I often break down. I have never had a job, I only have my drivers permit. I'm afraid of what the future holds. I know there is a bunch of people who have it a lot worse but will someone pray for me? Also for my friend Arianna, She has bulimia and many other stress caused problems. She is moving into a dorm for her 2nd year of college. The first one was really rough on her and caused her to overdose on sleeping pills a few times and ended up in the hospital twice. I am afraid she is going to have the same results this year.
Hey Anna. Thank you for being open to share. Sometimes making yourself vulnerable and admitting you need help is the hardest thing to do. But once you've done that, there's only going up because it is when we know that we can't make it without Jesus, when we know we are not capable of anything without him that we will find our strength and identity in him. My own biggest fear was that I would lose myself in the process of finding myself. But now with Jesus, I know who I am in him. I don't need to find myself anymore. I love him. He loves me. I have a living relationship with the God of the universe. What more could we want? I am praying that you will see the hope that he brings and that it is only in him that we will ever find ourselves. I pray for friend will also see the light in his eyes. The simple fact is that Jesus loves you and HE can bring you hope and strength

What do you do if you're an island not by your own decision but due to mental illness no one wants to be around you because you're too much. I don't want to be an island but its my only choice.
I pray that God will provide you with amazing people who would love to be around you no matter what you are going through! Just be encouraged that Jesus hung out with tax collectors, prostitutes, and people who we think that Jesus should not be around, but Jesus wanted to be with them. Jesus loved - loves - and will love everyone. Push on through and continue to stand firm in Christ! Look at your self in the mirror and see reflections of Christ that lives in you:)
God will help you! Trust Him; He loves you and wants to bless and strengthen you. It's really hard sometimes, but God still loves you more than anyone ever could. He loves you, and I love you and am praying for you.
I know how you feel! I have ADHD and, before I was adopted at the age of 5, I was in an emotionally challenged classroom. I have felt like an outcast my entire life, especially now that my grandparents are getting divorced after 56 years of marriage. I think the only thing we can do in these situations is pray to God for strength, peace, guidance and wisdom. May God bless you and your family in the years to come.
Mike if you can answer this . how do I reach my somalian friends at Wal-Mart . I bring Jesus everyday I do what I can to reflect him . but when I come in to contact with them .they aren't jihadists but they say their religion is similar to ours and that the only difference is Jesus vs muhhamd. I want them to know who Jesus is and how he differs but we had a guy from Iraq get fired for shovinging the bible down the somalians throats . I've told the guys from Africa a Christian does more with his fruit and actions instead of words but I want them to come to church . cause I know they don't wash their feet like true Islam tells them . they are suni . real Islam followers will tell them that they are infidels and deserve death for watching American sports . I just want to know what to say I guess

Pray for them. Pray and believe that God is working in the hearts of others, because you were wise enough to seek God for help. He is ready to go to work and change lives to love and know the truth, but how can He help if no one asks Him to step in and do the impossible? God is the source and solution to all of the answers and help we need, so take your requests for others to know Him, straight to Him! He wants you to pray for every person that you meet and know, because that is the way that He can keep you from trespassing on another's relationship with Him, and allow Him to work on their heart.
