Awww… just started the video but got to the part where you skip Paracas. Makes me super sad, but I understand if you did not feel comfortable with your Airbnb. I’m just surprised because you get can the most epic rentals in that area for minimal budget! And the small town of Paracas has always given me the best surprises. The tastiest ceviche and seafood I’ve ever tried, the Mars-like landscapes at La Mina. The Ballestas of course. Live music in the balneario… sucks you missed it but I hope you try it again!

This is the best Peru travel video that I’ve seen on UA-cam. We are adventurous drivers but the road delays and obstacles that you encountered give a good picture of what car travel in Peru is really like. It makes me consider taking the train or flying between the long distances. Thanks for taking us along!

First time watching you, I’m Peruvian. Peru is a big country, everything is far so it’s easier to take the bus or hire a driver. Agree that the poorest areas are outside Lima near the highway. Paracas is a very small strip so you did miss it 😂, it’s actually pretty but more like a fishing town. I went there with a day tour (Lima, Paracas, boat tour, Huacachina, Ica, wine tours), that was fun.
About being dangerous, I personally know Lima is more dangerous than any town in Peru. One thing you need to remember is the different climates :the coast (is a desert area,no rain), the Andes (highland, cold, hot, lots of green, archeological sites), Amazon (jungle, rivers, lots of wild animals). Packing is hard as depends of the area you are going.
We weren't expecting to see you still wearing our sleep mask nearly 3 years later! (38:16) And it looks brand new despite all the travel you've probably put it through. We've actually recently pivoted into making relaxing UA-cam videos to help people sleep instead of sleep masks, and we film a lot of sunsets over Tampa Bay in case you ever miss the views from your former home region! 😃

Great video - thanks! I was in Peru in May 2023 and those road sequences definitely “rang a bell.” I flew to Lima and stayed 4 days, then flew to Cusco and stayed 3 days, then joined a group that did a 7 day trek across the Salkantay pass to the Santa Teresa river valley and then to Machu Picchu. There were 8 of us - 4 who did it on horseback and 4 who hiked and we stayed at lodges every night. We had two guides and two wranglers. The lodges were lovely and I highly recommend the tour company- Mountain Lodges of Peru - expensive, but really worth it - great balance of comfort, adventure and experiences “off the beaten path.” What little driving was involved in my experience made me so happy that I didn’t primarily go that option.

So pleased to find a video by you on UA-cam. Welcome back!. I watched the Nazca segment late tonight and afterwards, I dreamt that I ran into you guys on the road there. In my dream, it was really fun to share with you that you could have driven to the small airport where pilots hire their single engine planes to fly tourists over the lines. They are exciting flights (!) because they tilt their plane wings to point to the various beings that are depicted on the ground and the low hillsides. Also in Nazca, you missed a unique rural graveyard where grave robbers, while using bulldozers to search for gold, had left behind numerous pre-Columbian mummies wrapped in handwoven textiles. Yes, I agree......it's a really long drive!!

Uh... with birds with 10-foot wingspans flying around, personally I don't know if I would have let Pepper run around out there. Although they are mainly carrion eaters, condors have been known to kill live prey like newborn animals as well.

In Cusco, skip rental car and skip the group tours. Hire a cab for the day. Freedom to do your own thing but not deal with driving.

The information you provided about Paracas is solely based on your experience and booking a Bed and Breakfast in a wrong location. What you said in the video is misleading and wrong. Paracas does offer nice hotels and restaurants if you go the right area. Like every where else you need to know where you are going. Every country has a tourist areas and zones that is not good for tourists.
