They make them not only each day, but several times a day. They time their trays like that, so it's always fresh. One of the only nice places that survived the pandemic. A BBQ bun is about $3 and it's a meal.
Montreal is a really fun city! We've only been here a few months, but we absolutely love it. You should check it out if you get the chance. Thanks for watching Jose :)
Oh yummy, I love dim sum. I think we have been to that dim sim restaurant too, I remember it very good. Those pastries looked so good! All the food looked amazing. Now I’m hungry! Thanks for the great video guys!
Yes we did eat a lot of food, but it wasn't all in one day lol. We had a lot of fun in Chinatown and all of the food was really delicious! Thank you for watching :)
Deserts looked yummy. I absolutely love custard but prefer egg.Absolutely love pork. I would have gotten the 3meat special. How can it be considered a Special without a soda?? [ not a special to me ] Think I saw a Diet Coke that Andy had. Yum noodles. Winner hands down for me was the pork dumplings. How was the lamb?? Was it shredded OR in pieces?? Absolutely Outstanding
Thank you for watching, and for your kind words, we really appreciate it! We always enjoy exploring new places to eat, and Montreal's Chinatown is no exception. Our favourite would probably be the dumplings, and we went back there quite a few times lol. The lamb was shredded up and was very tasty. The noodles were also really delicious. Thanks again, and cheers from Vancouver :)
I developed a real fondness for Restaurant Vip (1077 Rue Clark) in Montreal's Chinatown thirty years ago. At the time they were open till well past 3am, they had good prices, big portions and among the best General Tao's chicken in the city. They are also the sort of restaurant that employs the same people for decades, which says something to me about the relationships that exist in the establishment. I've been there only a handful of times in the last decade, and they still remember who I am. The economy has changed a lot since Covid, they now close at 11pm, their prices are higher, though still lower than most. Their quality and portion sizes have not changed. Neither has their decor or staff. 😉
We'll have to keep Restaurant VIP in mind for the next time we're in Montreal. It sounds like it must be really well run to continue in business for so many years. Especially after the struggles that all businesses went through during covid. Thank you for watching, and for the recommendation :)
@@TakeTimeToTravel Well, if you are taking suggestions... I don't think you folks have yet been to Cafe Santropol (3990 Rue Saint-Urbain). The place opened in 1976 originally as I recall as a non-profit, proceeds of the restaurant going to fund a meals on wheels program they also ran. I started frequenting there back when I was myself an impoverished hippy in the 70s. It is an utterly charming, hippy utopia with a gorgeous outdoor dining garden as well as interior. The food is outrageous sandwiches, great soups and the like, all for fairly reasonable prices. Some of my best romantic memories are associated with this place. Very much worth the visit.
We have been to Cafe Santropol a few times and love it Their back terrace is so beautiful in the summer time, and the sandwiches are huge. We also had an amazing carrot cake there, that was to die for! We do have it in one of our videos, I think it was the best patios video. It's definitely a favourite!@@panpiper
I don't think you should have any problem just speaking English. It seems like most people in the city speak English quite well. Thanks for watching :)
love from China.....In China, many young people, people in love, like to go to such places.. It always looks very prosperous, lively and full of life, in Changsha, Chengdu, Shanghai and Hong Kong....chinese love the food and atmosphere... If there were more Chinese here, it would be more lively and energetic. 😄 goodvibes
We would definitely recommend visiting Montreal's Chinatown in the summer time. It's quite beautiful to walk the streets on a nice day when there are some vendors set up outside, and some small patios along the sidewalk. Thank you for watching :)
Unfortunately Imperial is getting evicted - landlord wants to build condos. However they do have a new location in Brossard! The other alternative is Restaurant Kim Fung, which offers the old time dim sum carts, so you can see what you want before ordering. It's in the same building as Dobe and Andy.
That's really too bad. The dim sum place looked pretty good and I was hoping to go there my next time in Montreal. Maybe they'll open another place in or around Chinatown.
PS - I just checked their website. It looks like they've reopened at a new location a bit to the west. The old location was on St Laurent and the new address on the website is 1632 Boul. De Maisonneuve.
Wow, that's too bad! We love exploring the Chinatown's in different cities, as they are usually quite busy and vibrant areas, and of course, have great food. Thanks for watching :)
chinese food in Montreal are absolutely terrible - In Canada Vancouver has best, Toronto comes #2, Calgary#3, Edmonton / Montreal would be sharing the #4.
We were able to find some great food in Montreal's Chinatown! We've also enjoyed the food in the Chinatowns in Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto. We haven't tried Calgary or Edmonton yet, but hopefully we'll get a chance some time. Thanks for watching :)
Check out our video on Montreal's Atwater Market: ua-cam.com/video/83NaS0xBRUw/v-deo.html
Chinatown is truly a unique place and experience.
We are really looking forward to getting back to Montreal and trying some more restaurants in Chinatown. It really is a great neighbourhood :)
Wow, those deserts looked real good and fresh! Also, that's so cool to see them making those noodles as well. Looks fun out there in Montreal.
Montreal has so many great restaurants, it can be hard to choose lol. All the food we tried was amazing and we'll definitely be going back for more.
They make them not only each day, but several times a day. They time their trays like that, so it's always fresh. One of the only nice places that survived the pandemic. A BBQ bun is about $3 and it's a meal.
The food looks soooo delicious I can't wait to get there soon.
Haha, we really enjoyed eating our way through Chinatown.
The food all looks delicious, Yum Yum!
The food was really delicious! Thank you for watching :)

Down side of working from home now, the office is 3 minutes away from Chinatown and all its tasty pleasures
Haha, temptation is too close to you. We were down there the other day and ate way too many dumplings. Cheers :)

@@TakeTimeToTravel thanks, you are so kind. I am going to Montreal soon, so I will definitely check out those places.
Also HIGHLY recommend Delicieux Mei Mei, a few doors down from Epicerie Lam Kee. Great BBQ from both locations, but Lam Kee is take out only.
Thanks wnose! We will have to check out Delicious Mei Mei!
Great work guys, which Chinatown is your favourite between Montreal and Victoria?
Hmmm, that's a tough one, but I think Montreal's Chinatown is bigger and has more restaurants to choose from. They both have great food :)
Vancouver! (I've been to all three and Vancouver is definitely the best imo :))
I'm watching Sir..
Thank you so much, we really appreciate it :)
Omg.. you ate the whole day long. That'd be too much for me! Haha food looks delicious though.
