An excellent strip down and rebuild video. Whilst the owner has failed to maintain his car he has kept some very skilled engine builders in a job and allowed this video upload!
These guys rebuilt that engine from memory.! The've obviously rebuilt a lot of Ferrari engines! That must have also cost a pretty penny to rebuild...all those be new parts boxes! Great job and a lot of work. Would like it if they showed the entire car at the end of each of their videos.
I keep hearing that cicada sound in the first song and have looked at my door about 5 times seeing if it's open. Outstanding video. Please do more long ones. They are really great to watch.
Cool video seeing the internal workings of the 458 engine. I have a gen2 NSX, maybe you do an engine rebuild video if you do one of those. Honda of America bought two Ferrari 458 when they were developing the gen2 NSX. They stripped down one of the Ferrari and engine to learn. I see the similarities between the NSX v6 and the Ferrari v8
Saluti dall'Italia🇮🇹
Superb!. I don't know but I guess it must be annoying for such a skilled mechanic to see such preventable damage. The owner? Could be wealthy but just did not care. Though, if wealthy and sensible you should just have it serviced. Maybe the mechanic was not annoyed and simply thought "this is my living, it's a good job some wealthy people don't care about their very expensive cars".
Saludos.Valdebenito.motores.🧑🔧💥
My guy turns out Ferrari’s use pretty standard engine oil 5W-40 for this model. Dude imagine having to blow what probably 50K on this engine rebuild just because you couldn’t bother to spend $100 on an oil change…
Do you use original Ferrari parts or aftermarket oem in some instances.? Personally , I wouldn’t put anything near such a work of art that wasn’t a prancing horse original part.
A Ferrari is not like a Honda, you can’t treat it like a Honda. This owner learned a tough lesson. Oil is relatively cheap, engines are not. I wonder how many owners this car has had?
I believe the initial problem for this car was that the owner would rev high upon cold start up. He would also drive it hard prior to allowing the oil to warm up. This is how a car begins to burn oil. 360, F430, and 458 Ferrari’s don’t burn oil if properly warmed up and maintained. The next major issue is not changing the oil and or filter. That is very dirty. The low oil level should have triggered the oil light and one would normally add more oil or bring it in for service.
Must be nice to be so rich you can drive your Ferrari Into the ground. If I owned such a machine I'd be religiously checking everything I can on a weekly basis. I already do this with the vehicles I own now.
I do not understand HOW you can buy a Ferrari and not monitor the technical condition and save on maintenance? The video shows a typical result. The greedy pays twice, and the idiot pays three times.
What you discover are the things Ferrari did to make their engines less maintenance intensive. I remember when they still used timing belts instead of chains.
The owner of this vehicle doesn't deserve this car. This is a lack of staying on top of oil change maintenance. A high-end sports car of this era requires a serious buyers and serious owner. This is a waste of money to have to rebuild an engine because of lack of Maintenance by the owner. Just like what the person said in the comments this is not a Honda it's a Ferrari. At the end of the day treat all your vehicles with the respect of oil change requirements no matter what type of car it is a motor is a motor no matter what brand it is respect the requirements your motor needs in order to last to not cause mechanical failures
While I admired the knowledge and skills in stripping & rebuilding the engine, I had to shut-off the speaker as the music was simply too cheesy. Preferred to hear the raw sound of the mechanics picking-up & putting down the tools, knocking with the hammer, etc. Just my personal opinion.

Really admire mechanics with this amount of knowledge

Ferrari engines are masterworks of mechanical art
I can’t imagine having a car like this and treating it like shit. Seriously skilled mechanics.
Veramente fantastici questi meccanici.
Well done gentlemen, good job! Everything torqued is the only way.
Great job. That's a huge amount of work!
Good, very good!

Amazing restoration of the engine and that beautiful vehicle!
Dissemble is easy, the problem is to remember everything to reassemble, holy cow
Called a shop manual. With all the torque specs and loads of other info. Lol
14:10! 😍 I can't wait to watch this, I wish you had more long videos like this on all your amazing work

Engin rebuilded with brand new parts made in china ✅
Nice work ~!!! Its always a pleasing scene to see a Ferrari getting what it deserves.
Wow, these are very skilled mechanics! Great job!
Hmmm they put cams and lifters in Dry
Also old houses hooked up gas and water Vacuum all needed replacement
When did they put oil in. ??????????
Look at those cam lobes.. poor engine had a rough life
Once they gain some momentum those Ferrari technicians really hustle - well done.

if your a Ferrari owner and have to ask that question...lol.
btw...I want to know as well, sticker shock for sure.

Show show parabens pessoal pelo excelente trabalho 👏👏👏
Very professional, clean job.
How many miles, did the Ferrari had When y'all got to rebuild the engine.

I cant understand why the client no take care of this beautiful car before the disaster....
Good job but some parts need better cleaning and more!
Yes, but you can't speed up even the part of the start-up where it seems to feel a motorcycle and not to film the test drive ...
Fantastic work. Ask a young person to help with filming the process next time.
Great work
What a perfection !!

90% of sports car buyers are just to show off to people! speeding and the most ridiculous thing is buying to damage it not to maintain it...
Well, i blew up a honda civic crx engine because lack of oil.
No engine can handle oil shortage.
Engine oil replacement is very important for all engines

That is why ordinary Mechanics can't fix Ferarri Engine!!🤯🤯
Big differences compared to ordinary cars!!😲😲😲

Looked like the owner couldn't afford premium tyres as well as the cost of regular servicing 😂
Real Italian engineering. Before you can remove the engine remove half the car first 🤣
Sometimes Ferrari lawyers doesn’t show up in time..😢

very understandable explanation!
incredible work 👍
good job 👍
Bearifulll 🙋👏👏👏👏👏👍👊
The camera is very near the engine sometimes and that with the continuous movement of it makes me seasick. But a well done job nonetheless.
New clutch and new engine mount to take advantage that everything is disassembled ?
I wanted to go on the test drive.
Love to know how much that cost…😮
You need a lot of brains to maintain this sort of car.....other than money.

If a Ferrari engine is dirty on the outside like this one, it says all about the inside and the stupid owner 🤡.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a fully assembled engine vs rebuilding an entire engine from mostly new parts?
Price ?
slow down the video just a tiny bit.. we like to see all those awesome Ferrari 4.5L DI engine components !
Hi honey, its me. Whe have to cancel Aspen this year…
What happens if you forget to replace a part deep inside the engine once it's all put back together? 😳😅
This shouldn’t happen. Let expert do the job.
As a mechanic I can tell you that you get to do it all over again, with one main difference, second time round the client isn't paying.
Could you imagine if the had one screw left at the end?
Or...your missing 1.
Spero sia un'assistenza ufficiale Ferrari ...
Wonder what the labour time is to S & R this 🤔
How can I get in contact with this mechanic?
How much did it cost?
Cost to fixing the engine?
