This song has been played a million times in saloons and bar joints across America......because it is an up temple heartbreaking song...where guys can express their emotion to. Excellent song!!! Excellent Group!!!!
I remember this song, Double Vision and Feels like the first time where played a lot on the radio in the late 70's. I also remember Nick Gilder's "Hot Child in the City" was also played a lot. I like all of them.
"Cold As Ice" was the lead single off Foreigner's debut album. It was my introduction to the band and many other people's too. That hook line feeding into the chorus was played on a synthesizer. They used that sound again on "Starrider", the very next track on that album, but laid off it for "Feels Like the First Time", "Long, Long Way From Home", and "Headknocker" the other stand out tracks on that album. Listening along just now, and thinking about what you said about the keys standing out in this song, I agree, but what else stands out in that song is Lou Gramm's singing. Listen to the song again with an ear for how the vocals develop through the course of the song to take the lead away from the keys.
Survivor (Jimi Jamison years) "High on you" "The search is over' 'Is this love?" "Man against the world" "Desperate dreams" "I can't hold back" "Everlasting" "I see you in everyone' "It's the singer not the song" "Rebel son" "How much love" "Keep it right here" "Popular girl"
Must hear , "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You" to get the full range of Lou's vocal talent. Love your analysis and genuine reaction 💕
Naming the band. They had a mix of American and British musicians in the band and soon realized that anywhere in the world they would play, some of them would always be a Foreigner and the rest is history. Love your channel bro 👍
This is my after a few hours on a long road trip and settled into the long drive and another thousand or 2 miles to go song. Hands playing drums on the steering wheel.
Keys are strong in Foreigner songs, for sure! There's a MiniMoog synth playin' the hook. "Feels Like the First Time" "Hot Blooded" and "Double Vision" were some other early Foreigner hits.
They is a documentary about Foreigner, and Billy Joel is talking with Nick Jones about the keyboard beginning of the song, and he thought it was genius. One of the best debut albums by a rock band.
Just so over played back in the day I have a hard time with this still. My favorite Foreigner track though is on the album. At War with the World. Hardest hitting/heaviest song they did. Great drum track and the closest thing to hard rock they ever did.
Can you do some “Loverboy”? I barely see any reactions for them. They were popular in the 80s. Maybe “Turn me loose”, “Take me to the top” or “Working for the weekend”? One of those. I would like your opinion.
If you like this great Foreigner tune then you owe it to yourself to listen to their self-titled debut album in it's entirety as there isn't a stinker in the bunch. It's comprised of the hits Feel Like The First Time, Cold As Ice, and Long Long Way From Home but it also has other great tunes like Starrider, Damage Is Done, Headknocker, At War With The World, I Need You, etc. I literally wore the grooves out of this timeless classic album when it was released during my senior year of high school. I instantly became a diehard fan.
Wouldn’t have thought of it until you said it. The keyboards DID have an Elton John-esque flavor. I’ve loved this song from the first time I heard it. Lou Gramm is one of the best voices in Rock. Up there with Steve Perry, Dio, Freddy Mercury et al. You should check out their Ballads: I Wanna Know What Love Is, and I’ve Been Waiting For A Girl Like You. His vocals were AMAZING on both of those. I’d also recommend Juke Box Hero and Feels Like The First Time.
'Elton John'? Well... I hear in there what you're talking about, but while you were searching, I started thinking, Freddie Mercury. Either one has elements that could have easily pulled off the vocals for this song. However, we have to admit Lou Graham was masterful in these vocals though! :)
I'm not trying to equate Mick Jones with Elton John, but Mick tickles keys quite well. However, I wouldn't even compare them. The are both good, but have totallydifferentdirections.
YO BRO, YOU ONCE SAID YOU WANTED TO DO MORE GEOREG CLINTON, HOW ABOUT CHECK MAGGOT BRAIN PLAYED BY MICHAE (KIDD FUNKADELIC) HAMPTON? I KNOW EDDIE HAZEL DID IT FIRST, BUT MIKE IS GREAT TOO. YOU PICK THE CONCERT.
That's definitely Lou Gramm's vocals. I think this is a digitally remastered version, but it's also remixed because the original vinyl version had strings (or synthesized strings) in the outro.
@@roccaclassico9028 Between remixes & remasterings, re-recordings with a different singer make things that much more difficult. My ear for Lou Gramm's OG vocals isn't that great....
When I first heard hot blooded,, I said "wow ,they stole My woman from. Tokyo" My friend said,"haven't you ever noticed that foreigner,is just a deep purple ripoff, put in commercial format?"
You picked the wrong version of this, that album was so the new singer, who is good, singing the hits...but not the same as Lou Gramm. This song is on their 1st album, the photo you put, but when it started, showed that other album.
Lou Gramm is such a great vocalist. Alot of people tried to copy him.
Blue Morning, Blue Day and Headknocker are my favorites!
This song has been played a million times in saloons and bar joints across America......because it is an up temple heartbreaking song...where guys can express their emotion to. Excellent song!!! Excellent Group!!!!
Alright Chod, the next banger from Foreigner you should react to is "Double Vision". It's got a great hook.
I remember this song, Double Vision and Feels like the first time where played a lot on the radio in the late 70's. I also remember Nick Gilder's "Hot Child in the City" was also played a lot. I like all of them.
Double Vision and Feels like the First Time would be great Foreigner tunes to visit.
Yes I remember all of those. Do you also remember I'm Not In Love by 10cc?
@@jerickson725 Yes. And if you haven't seen it Chod did do a reaction to that song.
@@bangmon1000 Thanks, I'll check it out!

" Head Games " or " Long long Way From Home " ✌️♥️
LLWDH is a blaster of an idea.
One of the best rock voices in history ‘juke box hero’ ‘waiting on a girl like you’ ‘hot blooded’ ‘I want to know what live is’ so many good songs
Double Vision. From the album Double Vision (the title cut). Another good one from them.
Jukebox Hero!
Lou Gramm, one of the great male rock voices of all-time. The band is pretty tight too!
Incredible first album and the many that followed. Great band for all these years.
Someone mentioned Starrider and Headknocker----couple favorites
Their debut album was their very best album. IMO
I recommend checking out "The Damage is Done", which is one of my personal favorites off their debut. The whole album is incredible.
Star Rider and Headknocker. Love those Jams.
Lou Gramm's solo stuff was great, too. I always liked Midnight Blue.
Check out jukebox hero or hot blooded! By foreigner
Foreigner was a GREAT band! This song is one of my favorites.
One of their first and best hits!
Wow, I'd forgotten about this song and how much I liked it. Thanks for memories and your reaction.
The emotion just comes out so naturally in this song. For me, it's one of the greatest break up songs ever written.
Must hear , "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You" to get the full range of Lou's vocal talent. Love your analysis and genuine reaction 💕

First! One of the original members of Foreigner was Ian MacDonald who played for King Crimson before joining Foreigner.
The lead signer here is Lou Gramm. Try one of his solo songs next, 'Lost in the Shadows (The Lost Boys)'.
This is my after a few hours on a long road trip and settled into the long drive and another thousand or 2 miles to go song. Hands playing drums on the steering wheel.
'Urgent' has a killer sax solo, and one of Foreigners big hits too
Love love this song. Lou Gramm always sings with serious passion
So, so many hits. Lou has such an incredible range in his voice.
This song was one of the early ones.
Great reaction, Chod! I love this song! Check out “Long, Long Way From Home” next!

I saw them live in 1977 , metro ice arena in Lansing, Michigan .
My favorite song.

My favorite also
I love AWWTW but I also love damn near every song on that album.
You are slowly becoming my favorite reactor!!
My favorite Foreigner song, by far!
Star Rider is unlike any other Foreigner song, and worth every penny.
to me, this is one of the greatest rock songs ever produced... well written, amazingly engineered... perfect, catchy hook....
This is the very first song i ever heard at a concert. they were awesome. when they had 2 keyboard players in the band
Can you do some “Loverboy”? I barely see any reactions for them. They were popular in the 80s. Maybe “Turn me loose”, “Take me to the top” or “Working for the weekend”? One of those. I would like your opinion.
They were great live too.

This is a criminally underrated song..the french horns at the end are a great add....
The requisite ballad after a couple of rock hits. But this one is different - so classy and real emotion.

There are some nice a capella versions of Cold as Ice out there... Great song and group.
check out foreigner at war with the world or double vision
"Feels Like The First Time" should be next!!🎶🎼🎵💜🎸🎧🥁🤘🤘🤘🤘
“Say You Will” or “Double Vision”
I vote for Long, Long Way From Home.
The Great and irreplaceable Lou Gramm on vocals.
Good choice, next "Double vision" ;)
Nashville Live Concert version of Juke Box Hero, is their most powerful song, for me anyway.
Look forward to you reacting to "I Wanna Know What Love is" and "Double Vision."
Try "Mr Pink" live by Level 42. "Lessons in Love", "Running in the family".
Omg yes! Still a head banger but you need to check it out on video. Must be see.

Great song. Try "Hot Blooded." You'll love it.
Listen to Lou Gramm singing 'Lost in the Shadows' from the Lost Boys soundtrack, You will enjoy it.
Ugh please listen to “Urgent” one of my absolute favorites you won’t be disappointed!!!
Double Vision next please!
I feel like the rhythm of this song reminds me of sesame street
HERE'S ANOTHER BY GEORGE CLINTON - BY parliament .... Aquaboogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)
Suggest you turn up your volume. Song was loud turned down then had to crank it up to hear you.

I wish you would react to Man Against The World By Survivor
