@@MrAvatarzan I mean yes but no? After the Show + Tell and Griesel Phil has 13 life. Giving him 2 Griesel attacks. Phil plays out Magus the Show+Tell player has to put out another blocker and keep Griesel on D. If they ever activate the one ring they have to play a new one or kill Phil that turn or Stomp becomes live. It's actually a really hard spot for the Show&Tell player (depending on what their last 2 cards are).
Love the archetype! There's a very interesting list on goldfish that 11-0'd some event recently with 4 Karns in the main deck. (@Phil i also wrote you on patreon)
To be fair, right now my head is at cutting Needlehead for Broadside and replacing Goyf with Fury. Needlehead head is good vs what I see in paper (lots of Echoes). But i want a more generic build for taking it into any unknown meta.
I think I remember another UA-camr doing this same type of decklist shortly after Duskmourn. I love it personally, moon stompy is really freaking neat.
It would be interesting to see a running tally of your wins and losses on these leagues for the year. I'm betting even with sub-legacy power decks you are still positive. Always enjoy your content.
For what it's worth, I don't really care. The channel is CLEARLY not optimized for win rate lol. I win more than I lose with crazy decks. That's good enough for me!
@ThrabenUniversity Oh, I absolutely agree. That's one thing I really like about the channel. I was more meaning that are Compliment to your knowledge of the format and ability to play a wide array of decks with high proficiency.
Shatterskull x=1 for lethal, leaves mana up to play around daze. Gets hit by the consign. Second shatterskull leaves us in unknown territory, but looks like lethal again.
I think that 1 Bonecrusher Giant MIGHT be worth keeping somewhere in the 75 for one ring decks so you can stomp something and attack through the protection turn.
16 lands in Stompy feels like too much. My pet list runs 8 Sol lands, 1 Gemstone Caverns, and 3 Mountains. Having 4 chrome Mox means having 8-12 of the Boltland MDFC's is often rewarded and it makes up for the lower land count easy. I've also never understood why stompy decks don't run Imperial Recruiter. It fetches Magus of the Moon, Pinnacle Monk, and Broadside Bombadiers. Spicy creatures it can grab include Jaxis, the Troublemaker, Anger, and sometimes Pyrogoyfs. Relevant to this list in particular is that it can also fetch Razorkin Needlehead.
I fully believe that it is wrong to max out on the 8 MDFC lands in an Ancient Tomb / One Ring deck when Delver is coming back into the metagame. Recruiter is very poor in terms of speed, which is the biggest knock against it.
@@ThrabenUniversity Delver making a comeback will probably make me reconsider the mana balance of my deck and is a very good point. In match 2 against show & tell I think that Screaming Nemesis(dying to brotherhood's end) stops them from gaining life with Griselbrand.
Phil missing that (and fair enough, card has lots of words on) was a shame.
The problem was he was dead in the air to Griselbrand attacks and a possible followup blocker

I definitely agree he threw in the towel preemptively instead of making them have it.
I came looking for this msg as soon as I saw him concede
17:55 I'm just screaming CAST THE SMASHING ON YOUR OWN CREATURE.
same here hahahaa. only needed it on 1
Likewise
Consign made it moot
@@frienetic sure, in hindsight. That's a horrible argument though.
He could try again next turn no?
Daze on Simian Spirit Guide is exactly the degenerate midgame after an interactive start that I love
Nemesis, Shatterskull for x = 2 on Nemesis, possible lethal, attack to get them if they have an answer
Match 1 game 3, if you smashing your own nemesis for 1 you can try and get lethal
match 2 gristlebrand also wasn't going to gain life

If I am not mistaken ThrabenU also did stream with moon stompy including razorkin needlehead and screaming nemesis around that time.

There's a very loud voice in my head that keeps forgetting what Shatterskull is allowed to target
I haven't watched yet, but I hope to see a pitched fury targeting screaming nemesis to go to face for a win
Quite the state legacy is in right now huh
god i love the white boardered moons
Hey how about Defense Grid in Moon Stompy instead of Chalice / Bauble?
With a Pyrogoyf in the deck, is Lightning Bolt a good pick?
Also, damage to the FACE
I agree with your Gemstone Caverns hot take. I just do not find it to be worth it.
Pyrogoyf has fast become my favourite lhurgoyf, and I liked it in this list, even if this was a sad league. Happy 2025, Phil!
could have shatterskull smashed your own screaming nemesis and redirect damage to face in match 1 game 2
