Just found you while researching how to restore my own MLP collection. Do you know how to touch up flocking? I have one that is a grey unicorn with red mane and tail and white pretzels on its flanks. (S)he has a few minor wear spots, not enough to warrant total de-flocking. Mostly along hoof edges, ear edges, over one eye, and a few small (and I do mean small) spots along the neck. I'd like to touch it up just for my own happiness. I'm not looking to sell my herd. I just want them to look nice again.
I could have sworn I responded to this yesterday… but my comment is gone. 🧐 Anyway, it seems some customizers use something called Stampendous Fun Flock, in the color cotton ball.
Tried the Jasco on my so soft sundance and it stripped her cutie mark off immediately :( Like, instantaneously. I don’t see how I could have done something wrong, I used the same exact Jasco.
I wonder if the formula has maybe changed over time or something 🤔 I really do appreciate this tutorial though!! It’s well done and helped me with a lot of other things
Do you have any advice for ponies who’s wings, horns or legs got a little warped and bent from being in storage through extreme temperatures? I have g4 ponies but a lot of them have slightly bent legs wings and horns
I watched a mask-making video awhile back, where they used the soft pointed buffing-heads of a Dremmel hand tool to gently wear away extra latex on the seams, without damaging the mask itself. I wonder if the same technique might work for cleaning items like this.
***** Yeah, I doubt the glue would be an issue because you could flake it off dry, but I'm not sure how hard the pony's plastic is, and with a rotary tool there's always a risk of friction burn, depending on bits used, pressure, speed, and material. If I find an old damaged one at a thrift store or yard sale next year, I might pick it up for a test subject.lol :)
Good question - mostly it's because the acetone is a little faster and more effective at getting the flocking off. But you could use just the Jasco in theory.
I have two vintage G1 My Little Ponies, Speedy and Party Time, they are both twinkle eyed ponies, they have pony cancer, Plasticiser break down, and regrind. I wanted to know if you have any idea to clean this because sometimes they get sticky after awhile, on their hair and body, I do clean them but I was wondering if you knew of anyway to get rid of the spots.
But can't you buy flocking power? It would be difficult to find a 100% colour match and I don't know which adhesive you'd use to apply it, but since the flocked ponies are uncommon I wouldn't like to deflock her! But I think you did a fantastic job at giving her a new lease of life! :)
I don’t have a so soft pony but I have a Dale TsumTsum that came from a blind bag that I got at target and it is flocking the fur is coming off of it after I washed it
I thought the last thing that would be done would be to take off the soft flocking off the pony. I mean that's the whole reason for the 'so-soft' ponies. No flocking it won't be a so-soft pony anymore. Umm, ::scratches her head:: hmmm. But absolutely love that I am not the only one who is into MLPG1
"pony soup"
"oh that's just wrong"
lol
“PONY SOUP 😈”
Meanwhile the furby community 😂
BECOME ONE WITH THE COLLECTIVE SOUP
G1 and G3 ponies are the best. They actually look like ponies.
I agree! The G4s are kind of cute, but they don't really look like ponies. O.o
SakuraFoxFurry Exactly!!! I love G1 and G3.
I collect all of them, g4 look like Chihuahua deer tho
But I think g2 look the most horse like
G2 are the coolest I think even though they look more like deer to me.
@@matchatoon8204 LOL Chihuahua deer 😂💀
Boiling a green horse with pink hair in a pot of Oxy-Clean? Billy Mays would be proud.
Very proud! R.I.P Billy Mays

I rescued a flocked G1 pony from Salvation Army and I deflocked her with only nail polish remover and hot tap water. Her name is Best Wishes.

I always wonder how much these specific toys can be cleaned due to the material used.

Is it possible to “re-flock” a so-soft pony?
no, dont think so... you can always look it up online but it might be too difficult

stevenwalton8177 Dude My name is Steven Walton I swear.
Would it be possible to just clean the flock without removing it?
I have watched this video so many times! I just love it! Lol
Me too! It has good tips and tricks for restorers!
Why you deflocked the pony? The fuzzy hair on it wasn't damaged... : (
So .. why use acetone if the jasco removes it too and doesn't take the paint off?

I will never forget pony soup
Melinda never came across to me as a "my little pony" type of woman. no offense.
Melinda, is Skippity Doo the actual name for this pony design or did you come up with the name?

Cool beans! I may have to use this technique for moss man.
Thanks again for another useful tip.
