The question @ 1:11 "What have the Palestinians done in the last 40yrs"? Should have been answered by simply saying..."give them 6 billion dollars a year and we will find out"! What and how can be accomplished under an oppressive occupation, wherein you have no control over your borders and resources?
Thank you, UA-cam, for bringing this video back to our attention. One panelist said that Israel and the U.S. have the same values. What accords with our official values is a single state with equal rights for all, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity, a state we Americans would be free to talk about and criticize. A fascistic genocidal apartheid race-based theocracy that we are not allowed to criticize seems like the very antithesis of U.S. values, to me, unless the panelist is alluding to the worst values we have ever practiced. But if that is the case, does it make sense to idolize this dark side of ourselves and make war in its behalf? Israel was given to us and the world by the British Empire, another Sacred Cow we are not allowed to criticize. This is the Empire that pioneered apartheid -- in South Africa and Rhodesia. This Empire invented the concentration camp -- in its war against the Boers. It used opium to destroy much of China. It invented "Total War" -- war against civilians. As part of its divide and conquer strategy, it created the Muslim Brotherhood -- of which Hamas is an offshoot. Our founders fought to free us from the clutches of this empire, but today, we are not allowed to criticize it, even in our thoughts -- because we are not allowed to see that we have become the successor to this very empire.
One of the many reasons there is no Martin Lutherking in Palestine is because many of them are in Israeli prisons. Israel and the USA have conspired to keep the peace process out of any discussions because Israel's goal is to have one state THEY control. They are doomed to live in fear!!
Actually, as strange as it might seem, it was Rabin who created the Settlements which of course was continued by every Israeli administration since then, a policy which only denies the Palestinians who lived there the continuation of their livelihood.
Today marks exactly two weeks since the Hamas attacks on Israel, and I'm seeing this for the first time. This debate was highly intelligent, informative and insightful. Before the results were in, I knew the proposition would win. They made the case succinctly. More of the same is utter madness. If the present war is not proof, I don't know what is.
Question to the scholars.. What would happen if the US sent troops and stationed them on the 67 border and enforced a border and stopped settlements? The reason Israel doesn't want US troops on the ground there is because they do not want them to see the truth that anyone has ever visited the West bank has saw in my opinion. In other words what if the US flipped its support over to Palestine in a special relationship and forced the borders?
American forces can no longer do it their forces is so much Stretch they have all fronts being guarded china in south russia in europe north korea and among others sadly they have more enemies
England and its allies took away the homeland of the Palestinians and gave it to a religious group of people nobody wanted. How criminal an act that was and how many people have died because of their duplicity.
Nobody wants the people who call themselves Palestinians either. They come from many different homelands and are essentially squatters on the land formerly known as Judea. The Jews have a much longer historical claim on Judea that dates back to BC.
The reason, l know why America keep(Special) such relationship with Israel is because without such relationship, all Arab nations will wipe Israel from the world map. But we Christians especially those from( Igbos) Eastern part of Nigeria have a lot respect and relationship with Israel, so we can not allow Israel not to exist. There existence go a long way with our existence. Israel must be, without Israel our Bible study or usage is useless.
I would have to agree. In addition, I would have to mention that Israel is already a Nuclear Nation, yet themselves will not sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty... This also stretches the credulity of 'moral foreign policy', specifically in regards to our support for Israel.
“Leahy law” refers to two statutory provisions prohibiting the U.S. Government from using funds for assistance to units of foreign security forces where there is credible information implicating that unit in the commission of gross violations of human rights , such as those committed by Israel inside their open air concentration camp , with over two million people , in the Gaza Strip of the Middle East.
I believe the U.S. should step back from the relationship with Israel for the good of Americans and peace in the Middle East. This war that is killing civilians should stop and the U.S. should not be part of these criminal acts.

Custom duties were eliminated. Economic assistance has not ceased and as of 2020, 3.8 billion dollars per year are allocated. In other words, the ambassador lied.
i feel the more we help and or support Israel, the worse this situation will become. Israel has no boundaries nor wants any, and basically wants it all. The current bombardment of the Gaza strip is merely beachfront property for Israel in 10 yrs. They have little if any desire for peace, and continually prove this with their settlements. If Israel truly wanted peace, they would respect the boundaries established in their last military involvement. This current war is nothing more than another land grab
Of this there can be no doubt. We live in times quite different in many ways, technologically, internationally, economically, etc. than just a decade, perhaps5 years ago. Those who think they can forever commit violence against oppressed peoples with impunity anywhere should, in their own interests, think again!
WHO WANTS A WAR ? ESP TODAY , all the Wars ended wt no sole winner neither loser, but status quo ? But here in Palestine, it’s an Internal War, wt Israel trying to inhilate the Palestinians ?? Wt that, as it has been for 75 yrs, there will be NO END TO IT , unless THE US WT UNSC, agree to disagree, to BRING ISRAEL AND PAKESTIN TO A NEGOTIATING TABLE FOR A SETTLEMENT AND PEACE,CHARTERED by the UNSC !
300,000 displaced Palestinians live in the USA. Another 500,000 displaced Palestinians were sent to Europe and Middle Eastern countries. As with all things, people of the Israeli identity create huge problems among humans, and their discarded victims are other's responsibility to tend to. Yet they still demand our sympathies for how their ancestors were treated? Disgrace!
All lives are valuable! No one should ever stay quiet seeing innocent people killed on either sides..It is important to find the right communication solution 💙
How many troops did our greatest ally send to fight along side us in Iraq and Afghanistan? Lmfao Remember the USS Liberty! Never forget what Israel did to us!!!!
Israel give the land back but wanted to control civil service n dictated how big of an army Palestinian were allawed to have. Is that sound like freedom to Palestinian or still subjugation still???
In most country citizens running for public office candidates have to give up their dual citizenship. I am surprised to hear it is not so in the U.S.A.
@39:09 Sharing intelligence missile technology & standing shoulder to shoulder facing nuclear threats?! sounds like an enormous PAIN! These are your reasons why continued relations is a benefit & NOT a burden?
When I hear the term "special relationship" it makes me think of lovers or some kind of romantic involvement; a relationship based on honesty, mutual respect and mutual commitment to the welfare of the other. This is decidedly not the relationship The US has with Israel. Ours is a parental relationship and not one of the good ones where we guide and counsel a child, but rather one where the child is willful and disobedient and the parent does nothing, choosing instead to make excuses for the wayward child. There are those who hate Jews simply on the basis of their Jewiosity. I reject this philosophy, but I am also opposed to wayward children. Israel often cites the fact that it is a small country surrounded by larger unfriendly Arab countries, as though it thinks we have forgotten this fact. I would submit that it is in, fact, Israel that ignores this fact. It continually acts as if it were not and does so on the assumption that they can say whatever they want to the other kids, be as mean and disrespectful as they want, because Dad is standing right behind them. Our relationship with Israel encourages them to be bullies and discriminatory instead of recognizing the need and importance of accommodation and inclusion. Let us, by all means, cut the umbilical cord and push our fledgling from the nest. If it is to survive, if it is worthy of survival, it must demonstrate that on its own. I do not advocate being mean to Israel, but simply to stop feeling responsible for it. Israel should have more pride and come out from behind the skirt of the US and try to make it on its own.
@Goku Wow, if this isn't anti-Semitism I don't know what is. "They" need to be kicked out? But Syria, who has killed 500,000 of their own, and created a refugee population of over 5 million and growing gets to "stay"? Same with the dictatorial and despotic caliphates, emirates, military rulers, and sheikdoms that represent practically all of the Arab states;they get to "stay"? "They" need to learn to respect their neighbors? You mean the ones who have sworn their destruction, and have followed through on those depredations. "No Resources"? You mean no natural resources? Israel's intellectual resources and other non-natural resources are the backbone of its economy, and is far more sustainable than those that rely solely on natural resources.
The USA policy can go wrong in many ways. BUT this video is now making me think again. Yet, I am still TRAPPED IN HISTORY… FAR BACK FROM 1948. Both sides deserve a better solution. Controlling water, electricity…food ? That’s crime! Changing the Government of Israel is a must.
As a Christian who used to believe strongly the theology of Lewis Sperry Chafer ie Dallas Theological Seminary who is reexamining this doctrine. I was taught to pray for Israel which I did regularly as well as participate in Christian activities in an assembly under a the teaching of a dedicated pastor/teacher. I did this yet still I found my country becoming worse & worse. I did not know that when I did pray for them that what Israel or what they were doing with Palestine or what hand they had in our government & media nor the USS liberty scandal which happened under my nose while I prayed for them. IT seems strange that we who are Christians pray Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven only to go into a world more like Hell. When praying for the blessing of Israel that Israel was stabbing the US and other nations in the underbelly as well as their involvement in 9-11. If we reap a blessing in their blessing then why did they do that to us? That was no blessing? Are we waking up to something?
Evangelicals need to start questioning what we've been taught. We need to start asking questions and to start digging for information. And we need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the Truth to our evangelical community. We've had this unrequited love for the State of Israel. And when Christians visit there, we're disdained. So what's with that?
America shoul continue to support Israel. Because is the founding of the nation God we trust. Now the God we trust is the God of Abrahsm, Isack and Jacob is the God of Israel. We worship and give him thanks giving in our daily life. You people are trying so hard to seoerate us to spport Israel. We dtand with Israel.

I hear Rashid gives an ultimatum to the audience in his conclusive speech, saying, "if you don't wote, 'yes'", he refers to the public, the aggression from Palestine will never stop." He is threatening the public to accept his bid.
Absolutely correctly written the title USA should step back it's relationships from ISRAEL 🇮🇱. In order to protect/respect USA and American people by the hole world.

Great job and being a veteran I have to agree we must calm this genocidal action which will become a third world war. It's hypocritical for the USA vs England to be forgotten which is how Independence was won. Palastinians deserve their own country and independence from ISRAEL'S POLICY and Genocide needs to stop 🛑
We presumed that the best thing US would do and could possibly do is to stand firm and cause a two-state solution: one for the Israeli Jews and one for the Palestinian Arabs for these people to live side by side in peace and in harmony with the nature, thereafter let both sides develop their own economic, social and political advancement, and then stay away from them to face its own internal affairs for the good of its citizens! 😮😮😮
In 12 years since this debate, the special relationship has resulted in Israel moving further far right than ever, the Palestinians still oppressed in the occupied territories and more illegal settlements built than ever, with peace nowhere in sight and every other Arab chanting death to America on a regular basis. This relationship has been special alright , “very special”.
The 2nd Jew who spoke blows air thru his lips while making NO sense: IF to abandon values means to oppose apartheid, then there are NO values to abandon which is EXACTLY the state of a former democracy, by which I do NOT mean Israel , which was ALWAYS a theocracy and u can't be both, but I mean America. The oldest continuing democracy America which my ancestors fought for in 1776 would not even recognize today --and by today I mean even 12 years ago let alone now in 2023-- an American government condoning genocide that is blatantly spoken of & mandated by Israel despite the fact it is in violation of EVERY international law and EVERY law of war. WE THE PEOPLE are opposed to this war of genocide. The zionists have outdone the Nazis. To call them Nazis would be too kind. THEY have superseded the Nazis and of that and ONLY of that can they have their distorted sense of pride.
Eizenstat rambles on about how those countries around Israel have nothing in common with Israel and it's the special relationship with the US that makes the difference . On point 1 Those countries around Israel have cultures thousand's of years old, and in the case of Iran called the cradle of civilization , these countries are the grand old men while Israel is a spoilt child with rich physcopathic parents . On point 2 The special relationship with the US goes back to the slave trading day's when it was Jewish slave boats that brought the first and by no means the last of the African slaves to America every single ship but one was Jewish owned and operated . Right up to today where every single politician in Washington seeking re-election needs to fly to Israel as some kind of right of passage ! to say, without endorsing Israel is political suicide is not a "special relationship" Israel is the puppet master and while the string's are still attached to it's US politicians there will be more proxy wars more deaths more misery.
I have long believed that the US should distance ourselves from Israel. Not hate for Israel or its people but they're like a relative that you love but can't be around too long. Love them with a long handled spoon.
THINK. We have all given Israel and Netanyahu in” particular” his own way too long. I think we should now give the Palestinians a chance to speak. Let’s hear what they want.
So, the conditions in Gaza are entirely Israel's fault? One speaker in this debate was discussing a period, in the 90's I believe, when Gaza was beginning to thrive with outside interests coming in, then he was cut off before having a chance to say what went wrong.
That was a good debate, but in my opinion a weak performance by the opposing side. 2 things (at least) missed partially or completely: 1. They failed to explain properly one of their very first points, which is that stepping back from the relationships with Israel will send a message of weakness and bring more demands. One of the main reasons this is true is the mentality and the nature of the Middle East, with which we the Israeli are very familiar. The Arab world thinks quite different from you guys, who always appreciate openness and sacrifices. Israel has made many steps in that direction, some of them were successful (thanks to the influence of the US), and we're prepared for more steps. But the vast majority of them only brought us to more violence and more demands, as our steps were not appreciated and respected as we expected, but taken as pure weakness. Following these examples you can only conclude that if and when the US government announces such a step-back, overnight you will see Arab countries taking steps directly opposing the expectations that it will be taken as respect and sacrifice, because they will only see weakness, and when they see weakness they exploit it immediately. 2. Mr. Cohen is cheating logic here: He stated a few times that the step-back is (a) "thinking out of the box" and opposing it is (b) "more of the same". He also said that (c) the peace process is doomed and (d) the solution lies only through giving up land. Israel's policy in the West Bank is far from perfect, and I've been there. It is not of course only our fault and responsibility. But let's not cheat logic: (a) is based on (b), which in turn is based on (c) and (d) together. Now, (c) is an assumption which is yet to be seen so there's no point in making decisions like it's a fact. I personally believe there is a chance for peace, simply because everyone agrees that the situation cannot continue. (d) is just wrong: Giving up land has proven useless again and again, not to mention the proposals in the last 15 years that "no one knows" why they were turned down (Hamas threats towards Palestinian leaders?). That means that it's not really "thinking out of the box" (a), it's actually "more of the same" (b). Desperate sacrifices assuming all is lost, giving up land, pressure on Israel are all more of the same. Out of the box would be pressure on Hamas for example, or proposing a not-Islamic-only state like Israel is not-Jewish-only, like someone said.
Israel created Hamas to take down the PLO. Question - how do they get the rockets ( glorified firecrackers according to Norman Finkelstein) into gaza when it is the most heavily fortified monitored border in the world.
@@nomorewar4189 First of all - wow, I don't even remember it but can't believe how right I was 6 years ago, as it's been perfectly demonstrated by the Trump administration: Officially recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving the embassy there, officially recognizing the Golan heights as part of Israel, freezing aid to the PLO - all steps that were certain to ignite the region and drive the Arab world completely bzrk, supposedly. Yet the OPPOSITE happened: Peace deal after peace deal. "Thinking out of the box" right there. Furthermore, it's been a consensus that the Palestinian issue is the number one concern in the Arab world. Nope, not even close. Just the latest examples how the west just doesn't understand the Middle East politically nor culturally. As to your question: I'm not sure if you imply that the rockets into Israel are an Israeli conspiracy or genuinely don't get how a simple rocket like Qassam can be produced from simple materials, some smuggled but mostly legal.
The idea of shifting to Turkey as the USA's "best friend and ally" in the Middle East is a interesting suggestion I've heard in a long time! Anyway, let such friendship be based on merit and mutual advantage.
To Mr. John gerkoff you can't ask an oppress state to take responsibility for being oppressed what can they do other to submit to their oppressors something not only they wldnt adhere to but nobody wldnt....
It was over four years ago and it sounds like today. So many information untold to not further damage hornet's nest :) I was just watching and listening and my hands were shaking like I was about to get one from Israel for not agreeing. In one word - superpower. No comment..
The opposite debaters have not really brought any great points as to why US should not cop out of the special relationship it has with Israel. I got from this debate that the special relationship brought more disadvantages than advantages to the US interest as well as the Israel interest.
May Allah guide this organization right and grant theme understanding ❤i wish everyone understands the condition of America as is going out of justice totally
@1:05:52 stop because Israel is engaged in an occupation because Israel has a extreme far right government who have nothing but contempt for Palestinians who draw breath and anything or anyone that tries to extend that breath one second longer.
Looks like Turkey is no longer going to be the other democracy (outside of Israel) in the ME. And bringing up Qatar is a joke. They have an absolute monarchy, and it's a country that enforces indentured servitude.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. In law, a judge aims for no detectable bias. That is the optimal stance as a mediator. Why don't we try it in our attempts to broker a two-state solution?
God blush you Mr, Rogers for seeing the truth and facts.obviously Mr. Rosenkranz does not have any relation with truth and reality. I hope oppressors get punished one day
B.S. What is this guy talking about? 'American troops not in Israel??? :-)) That is because the American Troop is surrounding Israel from every angle. In countries all over UAE, and Egypt few hours to reach the main hap in Jibouti, no need to be in Israel, the Esralite is fully overloaded with all the deadly Arms, no like it for a place so small, all supplied mainly with US. In the blink of an eye, the US is there to interface. It is funny all finance and political efforts are priority over the American people's needs. Walk up be honest and strive for Peace. Not a talk that did not bring you all in 75 years. People on both sides of the place need their livelihood back, and that starts with realistic steps, ceasing fire, equal two places allocated to both, and rebuilding and compensating Palistians!!
This is 12 years before. Now the situation is very different. The whole world understand what the US and Israel is doing to plastine is wrong. Even within their own country they say that .plastine should have their own indipendant state. They have the right to decide who rules them. Whether US and Israel like it or not. This is their land. Not Israel's. All these years plastine is living in a open Prison.
First off, I'm a dedicated supporter of Israel and their right to exist. That does NOT mean, however, they should be beyond review and criticism. I totally agree that we have given Israel way too much assistance and support. They are more than rich and powerful enough to absorb the loss of US taxpayer dollars. That doesn't mean we should abandon them diplomatically or suspend all assistance. The question is one of balance.
“We’re Not Worried About The United States, We Own America and, They Know It!” -Arial Sharon (Former Soldier / Israeli Prime Minister / “The Butcher of Beirut”)
Infact, why can't America condemn Israel when the went wrong. What is special relationship? even God Almighty whom we all worship punish us when we goes wrong. Let America reduce the relationship, but Arab nation do have hidden relationships among all Arab nations, without considering whether the are right or wrong.
It's interesting how few of the opinions herein are balanced. Every comment below is a lop-sided, out-of-context oversimplification.. How many Israel-haters on this post have spoken out against Iraq, Syria and others for their treatment of the Kurds? When Muslims are mistreated or killed by other Muslims, nobody speaks out. Opposing religious entities will always be at odds because they are fundamentally opposed to each other's claim to being God's chosen..
It's interesting how you seem to have just noticed for the first time that opinions expressed on the internet are not usually balanced, congrats! It is also interesting how you seem to set a precedent that if one wants to criticize Israel, they must also criticize the red herrings you listed, or else their credibility comes into question for some reason.
quite a "pass" you've tried to construct for Israeli excesses: "other people do it, too!' doesn't work for mouthy teens or criminals who get busted. and shouldn't
jlawrence It's not a pass at all. The comment was directed at you -- the sophisticated narcissists who talk and talk and talk, but never do anything. All they have to offer the world is more bitter divisiveness. If you were a TRUE defender of human rights, your actions would be more homogeneous. What I'm truly curious about, is if you (collectively) know that your malignant rhetoric creates more division and moves us away from peaceful solutions and are just projecting your smug self-righteousness, or, if your completely ignorant of your herd-like tendency to move with the masses?
The formula is simple. If US is to regain its popularity, prosperity and flourishing economy, always stand for justice, equity and truth. Failing which it will be impossible. God will never continue to support injustice.

Outstanding comment.
You are a Hamas terrorist in the Gaza lol😂😂😂😂
One of the many reasons there is no Martin Lutherking in Palestine is because many of them are in Israeli prisons. Israel and the USA have conspired to keep the peace process out of any discussions because Israel's goal is to have one state THEY control. They are doomed to live in fear!!
Actually, as strange as it might seem, it was Rabin who created the Settlements which of course was continued by every Israeli administration since then, a policy which only denies the Palestinians who lived there the continuation of their livelihood.

12 years later, in 2023, we still hear Roger and Rashid´s words. It is inspiring for those who believe in justice and peace for all humans.
Amen. Even the tactics of falsely trying so hard to arresting opposing sides of Biden/Obama administration.

If they are sending money to foreign countries, why can’t they help the veterans and the homeless. I don’t understand why they can’t.
They can, they choose not to because we act like little children who will take no as the answer. Shameful.
Super wise decision! It's time the voices of reason be heard.
Well done South africa Mandela 🇿🇦 👏 we humans eyes are open never to be closed we humans stand with palastine ❤❤❤

That will never happen because America is just as wicked.
Yes this happened
God gave thatland to Israel. Remember Jesus was in Jeruselam. And he was crucified there. That land was given to Israel by God
Read the Bible
I would have to agree.
In addition, I would have to mention that Israel is already a Nuclear Nation, yet themselves will not sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty...
This also stretches the credulity of 'moral foreign policy', specifically in regards to our support for Israel.
I just wrote you some real truth about this and it's very serious and it keeps getting deleted before I can send it to you

US is not fair or equitable. It's people don't have Healthcare education half their wages are taxed.
I believe the U.S. should step back from the relationship with Israel for the good of Americans and peace in the Middle East. This war that is killing civilians should stop and the U.S. should not be part of these criminal acts.
Israel's priority is it's own security so let them get on with it with no help from the USA, Europe or anybody else who has been fooled.

Why US media never shows us Osama Bin Ladin tapes,???A=Because they dont want people to know the truth
I totally agree with that idea ! Must whole world must support that idea !
Of this there can be no doubt. We live in times quite different in many ways, technologically, internationally, economically, etc. than just a decade, perhaps5 years ago. Those who think they can forever commit violence against oppressed peoples with impunity anywhere should, in their own interests, think again!
What a SHAME on the U.S.A.!!!!!!
Disgrace!

Why Israel control the most basic things, like water and power?
Because they are Hitlers
Israel is weakening the USA internationally militarily, economically and morally. These are some of the problems that caused all past Empires to fall.
Other allies don't act like Israel does. Therefore, the comparison is wrong.
exactly so, and the only reason is that Israel gov are spoil brats. With poor daddy, the USA.

Proudkarma, well said thank you.
Proudkarma.. we totally agree with you. The Israelists behave like gangsters and get away with their actions.

Yes!
Yeah what's with that? On the other hand orthodox Jews are opposed to Zionism. They are disdained in Israel. What's with that too?
America shoul continue to support Israel. Because is the founding of the nation God we trust. Now the God we trust is the God of Abrahsm, Isack and Jacob is the God of Israel. We worship and give him thanks giving in our daily life.

We presumed that the best thing US would do and could possibly do is to stand firm
and cause a two-state solution: one for the Israeli Jews and one for the Palestinian Arabs for these people to live side by side in peace and in harmony with the nature, thereafter let both sides develop their own economic, social and political advancement, and then stay away from them to face its own internal affairs for the good of its citizens!
Well done everyone. Peace.
It is Shameful what The US does in it's special relations with Israel
Hats-off to Bloomberg to arrange such a nice debate❤
I have long believed that the US should distance ourselves from Israel. Not hate for Israel or its people but they're like a relative that you love but can't be around too long. Love them with a long handled spoon.
Best to make decisions regarding Israel according to the understanding God provides!!!
I believe God has promised to bless those who bless His special people (Israel)...
Very good lecture. Thank you
THINK. We have all given Israel and Netanyahu in” particular” his own way too long. I think we should now give the Palestinians a chance to speak. Let’s hear what they want.
The opposition lost so spectacularly, so cartoonishly, and so completely that it just might split the Red Sea again.
It’s too late!
America held themselves out to be an honest broker in the Middle East peace process. We knew all along that we were one sided!
So, the conditions in Gaza are entirely Israel's fault? One speaker in this debate was discussing a period, in the 90's I believe, when Gaza was beginning to thrive with outside interests coming in, then he was cut off before having a chance to say what went wrong.
Also respect for Palestinians!!!
That was a good debate, but in my opinion a weak performance by the opposing side. 2 things (at least) missed partially or completely:
Can anyone show me in The Old Testament, New Testament, USA Constitution WHERE The USA POLICY IN ISRAEL is written in stone?

First off, I'm a dedicated supporter of Israel and their right to exist. That does NOT mean, however, they should be beyond review and criticism. I totally agree that we have given Israel way too much assistance and support. They are more than rich and powerful enough to absorb the loss of US taxpayer dollars. That doesn't mean we should abandon them diplomatically or suspend all assistance. The question is one of balance.
We need to pressure them to stop building settlements. They are only hurting themselves by doing so.

That right. Checks and balances
