    Well done England. As an Irish fan obviously gutted but this was a fantastic England performance. They played with width and passion. The best I saw for maybe 3 years. Well deserved winners. Keep building, plenty of talent in England. See you next year in Dublin

    Massive salute to the England team and coaches! What a performance. I really thought it was all done and we had lost by two points, but I still would have gone home a happy man. Happy to see England on form, breaking the gain line, off loading, taking the initiative, always with forward momentum. It has been such a long time since we’ve seen that, the RWC Semis aside. Keep it up England, it was great to watch. Respect all round! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🥀

    Borthwick has secured himself for the foreseeable with this win. Nobody gave England a chance before kickoff. And they were definitely the better side on the day. Ben Earl, Alex Mitchell and Marcus Smith specially carry the torch forward. Brilliant team performance against all the odds. Ireland should win the tournament - or will they???

      Hope he has NOT. He is useless at international level.
      The players played collectively in spite of Borthwick ball & despite Borthwick sub-standard coaching!
      Still stand by the en-mass rugby player’s opinion that quality club coaches / nice guys Steven Borthwick & Richard Wigglesworth’s club rugby level coaching & tactics will NEVER see England rise to the sum total of player quality, class & ability.
      So, sorry to say that England will never reach their international potential under head coach Borthwick.
      Andy Farrell & Shaun Edwards, come home to YOUR ENGLAND! Your coaching expertise is desperately needed!

      Well, he took the team to a World Cup semi-final (albeit via an easy enough route) and his team has just beaten what is considered to be the best Irish side ever. I reckon he’s safe enough for the time being. He’s only been in the job for a brief period so far. Let’s give him a chance and the benefit of the doubt.

    • @deltazulu3650
      @deltazulu3650 2 місяці тому

      @colcocon6021 You sound like a decent & reasonable England man, fair enough too.
      Trouble is it's obvious the team performs "in spite of the defensive minded & negative coaching" & "despite the box-kick & chase mentality" that Borthwick has always used as a decent enough club coach.
      Ostensibly, Borthwick is a good forwards coach or at best a club head coach.
      He is NOT all-encompassing enough to be an international head coach. Not in terms of philosophy, ideology, structure, strategy, tactically or style of play or total game plan. He doesn't have the vision at the highest level.
      He has been in charge of England for 14 months & there is still NO clear style of play, structure, philosophy, recognisable modality of what he wants his best 23 players in our country to play like. That's not good enough.
      Sure he had the RWC team & a new start for this 6N. He has muddled his way through both & it's the skilled, fast, powerful, quality, EPL players who have individually saved his skin, quite literally.
      Put it this way, if Andy Farrell, Rassie Erasmus, Steve Hansen, Jake White, Joe Schmidt, or even Scott Robertson, Jacques Nienaber, Ian Foster et al had been England head coach for 14 months? Well, England would have a very clear & definitive style of play, modality, structure etc.
      They'd have won more than they have, not scraped out a losing situation against Italy, stole a victory against Wales, played like headless chickens as they did against Scotland & get the rub of the green against Ireland.
      Our best 23 players in the land deserve a better head coach than blinkered unimaginative Borthwick.

      @@deltazulu3650 You’ve obviously got no time for the bloke and you’re entitled to your opinion. All I’ll say is he’s relatively new in his job - it’s a massive step upwards from club to International level, and he’s still finding his way (as indeed are the team in getting to know each other). If they put in the kind of performance next weekend against France as they did yesterday and win that game, then I would respectfully suggest that he has found his blueprint for the future. He just needs a bit more time. 14 months just ain’t long enough to give sufficient grounds for condemnation. Have a good day.

    • @deltazulu3650
      @deltazulu3650 2 місяці тому

      @colcocon6021 I cannot argue with your fair & equitable position. Kinder & more patient than mine for sure.
      But, like Stuart Lancaster failed at international level, yet was an excellent club rugby coach & a bloody good bloke, I dare say Borthwick is cut from the same cloth & is in the same mould.
      Though at least Borthwick played test match rugby. He may yet step up to the mark.
      Then again, I didn't realise the ERFU treated England head coach as a learning position. We should be better than that as a national side.
      Hoping for a decent England result against disenfranchised post-world cup depressed France.
      Enjoy the rest of the 6N.

    "Well, what's your prediction for this game? I can see Ireland absolutely thrashing us, or because of our changed team a very tight game with England winning by a drop goal!"
    Well I never,

    I hope fans realise that whilst the last kick was the bit everyone will remember, it was not impressive. Any 10 worth their salt should have slotted that drop goal. Marcus Smith has the limelight but was not the conductor of this display. That lies with George Ford, Jamie George, Maro Itoje and Ben Earl. Feyi-Waboso was outstanding. Furbank was unreliable, his handling errors cost England 2 tries. Good to win but a lot to improve, and ensure that credit goes to where it's due, not to someone who gets a flash in the pan moment to be a star.

      I hope you realise that it was a stroke of genius on Marcus Smith’s part to go for the drop goal rather have waited for the ref to pull them back for the penalty kick. That way England had two attempts at winning the game. As it happened the drop goal slotted over. It could easily have been charged down. He could also have passed it out wide or even dropped, considering the pressure. I thought it was a brilliant tactic.

    All credit to England players who stepped up against a very low energy, disconnected Ireland on the day.
    Great collective effort by England players despite missing a simple penalty, two reasonable conversions & a handling error for a try which had they taken would have seen England deservedly win 37-22!
    Still stand by the en-mass rugby player’s opinion that quality club coaches / nice guys Steven Borthwick & Richard Wigglesworth’s club rugby level coaching & tactics will NEVER see England rise to the sum total of player quality, class & ability.
