I love it...but I still wanna rock my Canadian winter jackets during the lows " winter" for the style of it 😁🤣
I live in Arizona, our summers get up to 118 degrees. People don't go out during the day. But once the sun goes down, everyone comes out.
I noticed that people in Merida don't use umbrellas to cover you from the sun. I know I will when I move to Merida.
Anyway, thank you for your video!
Thanks for watching and supporting! 💛
I'll be moving to Merida with my girl in April
Well, it’s good to know my years in Texas have prepared me for Merída weather. In the grand scheme of things, heat is much better than a lot of unpredictable weather patterns & unsafe living.
I visited Merida for ten days in March 2021. I was able to get a covid test with documentation for return to the USA at Farmacia del Ahorra on Prolongacion Montejo near Buena Vista. If I remember correctly, it cost me 600 pesos. Also, there is the AutoProgreso bus between Merida and Progreso that is a big bus, pretty roomy, that only cost 21 pesos to go between the two cities. I was totally amazed by that and took the bus several times. I live in Utah normally, where it's cold and sometimes snowy. I found Merida hot and humid but bearable while I was there. From listening to this video and also talking with locals, I suppose I haven't had the real 'heat initiation' yet.
Thanks for the info. If i got to Merida I'll look for the bus to Progresso!
Mosquitoes don't like, listerene, Vicks on your clothes, peppermint oil in water(spray bottle)Lavender oil in water, Avon skin so soft. Citronella. Hopefully one or more works for you, I've used these things in Florida, helped a lot. I heard eating sweets and having blood type O attracts them, not sure about this. Safe travels and Happy Times everyone ❤ ✈ 🚢 🚗 🚆 🚶♂️
I found that many of my questions asked in the Brothers and sisters of Merida group was met with a challenge. I was told to either search the group because it was already asked and answered or no response at all. I know that it was COVID, but when I visited I was happy to find one person on the brothers and sisters of Merida who agreed to meet with me at a Starbucks. However another group, The Black Mexpat Community, held a small dinner at an Italian restaurant and the people in attendance provided some great advice for me and another lady looking to make Merida home. I highly recommend joining both groups.
I'm glad you got what you needed. 💛
Yeah, same. I don’t care for the Bro and Sis of Merida FB group. The mods are on a power trip in there.
Same
This may be the third time I’ve watched this video and I’m also in the Mérida FB group. If the local community is as welcoming and helpful as the people in the group… I am literally drawn to Mérida. I will visit twice before the end of the year.
My biggest concern is the heat. But, I'm not deterred. Coming in June for a week to look at housing, my target for moving is January 2022.
Glad to hear city comes alive at night. Im a night person! 💕
GREAT content ladies!
Thanks for watching! This city sounds perfect for you 💛💛💛
I saw that also. Way to hot for me.
Has to “ come alive at night” cause it’s too HOT during the day to be outside!!!!
Did you make the move? If so, how is it going?
this was great. Shida you are hilarious. Colby you're adorable. Very poised and pretty. Thank you both.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 💛
You are funny! Mattress story was hilaruous.
Peace, light, love n LIFE ✨️ I appreciate the discussion here. My hope is that the host can provide an updated peek into living in Merida since we are post cv19. I wonder what the cost of living is now? It would be good to know, as Colby provided the 1br/mo costs since it was mentioned that more ppl or "digital nomads" were popping in. Moreover, I'd really like to hear the pro n cons on getting a Mexican bank acct, the criteria. Also, how that holds up to just doing the provisional visitor's VISA. Has shipping goods in become less of a ripoff with that cash "import tax"😏. And maybe talk on how has the furniture buying market improved or been kept dismal. Just a few thoughts onda mind since Merida seems to be lovely despite the extreme heat conditions. Holla if yah here meh😄
I can't wait to leave and live there
Merida’s weather sounds like Mississippi. When I moved here, it was 99 degrees and with humidity it was 105-109 for 10 days. My legs got burned walking from the parking lot to the store. I have gotten used to it though. But like Merida, summer outdoor activities begin after 5:00 on.
Oh that’s a no-no for me. 99? 🥵🥵
😳🤣😳😊
I’ll be there by the end of the year!! I’m so excited!!
first time visiting your YT page, but you TCB ... covered all the bases. I'm an AA expat living in Belize contemplating a shift to a new location. Merida ranks high on my list along with Accra and Lusaka. Time will tell who wins. Will subscribe and thank Q 4 this wealth of information.
Thank you this was so helpful. I now have a better idea of what to bring and what not to bring.
i have high thread count sheets from BB&B years back, and i will certainly bring them, without a doubt.
Thanks for the video! I've been in Merida for about 15 months, and do love it. Just wanted to chime in and let you know that it is their culture in Mexico to wait to be asked to bring the check. They think it is rude to bring it before you ask. They don't want you to feel they are rushing you. I think it is interesting no one was asking about the language and if you spoke Spanish. That is the hardest part for me!
What brought you to Merida?
@@Roshida Probably a lot of the same things that captured your heart. It is safe, charming and near the beach. The heat didn't bother us either. Love to get to know some of your group. Looks like you have a lot of fun!
@@EveningTV Shida's 😊 lives in..."Mexico City"😊 the other young lady😊 is in... Merida 😊
Thank you for sharing.I am planning a visit to Merida in April. I know that the weather is very hot.Merida must have many pluses. Looking forward to my visit.
Have fun! I hear such great things about Merida.
Hello, I'm coming to Merida at the end of June. Thanks for providing all this content. Hopefully will see you one day when we're there
Hey Shida!!! Loving your channel. These tips are amazing! We recently relocated to Mexico and are enjoying the lovely weather to say the least. 🏖❤️🇲🇽We also Subscribed and can't wait to watch more videos!!! :))
In many places being too intrusive in a restaurant is considered rude. Only in a tourist area is that "heavy" service something you can expect.
Sounds like Houston. In the hottest part of the summer we don't go outside in the heat of the day either.
Very good interview. Definitely useful information. Thank you both for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 💛
Girl! Any references to your eyes being like stars ✨ is FLIRTING!!😂
I just got back to the States after being away in Asia for three years non-stop. What she said about USA being like a toxic ex resonated with me heavily. I booked a place and one-way ticket to Merida today. I'll be back with an update
hOW'S IT LOO0KING?

How was it
@@HughJass-313 Mexico is okay. Thinking of going to a new city because I don’t think Merida is for me

Are you happy?
❤😁❤
Just thinking about the heat leaves this place off my list.
Very informative. Thank you ladies.
Thank you for this informative interview, I learned so much!
I love the heat
That’s great!
Me to
Really enjoyed the conversations. Also Shida you are naturally funny. I think you could do stand up comedy. Thanks lady. You both are inspirations to my life. 😀
Summer and super summer...OMG, Merida! 😳😆
I know!! My mom was trying to convince me to go next week, but it's already over 100 degrees. 🔥👀
@@Roshida would like to know your thoughts on Quitana Roo. My husband and I visited for a week in December 2017 (temps were mid 70s - low 80s) and liked the market, the cenotes, and everyone was friendly. We loved our visit also to Chichen Itza and learning about the Mayan people.. We went over to Cancun and did some water sports, but that isn't a deep dive into the day to day life (did you see what I did there, lol)
I see what ya did! 🤣
I like Quintana Roo, but the summers are a little too hot and humid for me. There's a lot to do there, but I prefer a less touristy environment for the long term.
I enjoyed this sis. Hopefully y'all can share more experiences. Stay safe🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Most definitely. Thanks for watching.
Going to Merida in August
August? You’re brave! Let me know how it is. 💛
thanks for sharing. i'm curious of how health insurance is there? Is easy to find a doctor so that you do your yearly physical? I"m assuming people also do annual physicals.
It's safe cause it too hot for the criminals lol. I'm supposed to move to Merida in Aug but all the "best places for me quizzes" based on my interest says CDMX.
Is the heat humid or dry? That makes a huge difference for me lol I live in Az and yes it gets really hit here but it’s a dry heat
Money and conversion when you first get there to get your appartment and how much cash should you have for that.
Watching again thank you
Thank you again 💛
For that price what does the outside and inside look like? I would like to find a place for 550.00 USD
Get some lemongrass oil for the geicos
This was excellent.
Thanks for watching! 💛
Hello all. I see several comments about traveling, did anyone go, and how was it, or are you a resident now 🤔
Hello there it’s Lori I’m so excited to reach out to you guys. Merida Mexico is the first place I desire to check out with that being said I look forward to any feedback that you may have and yes I’ve done my research I’ve learned a lot from you to and from your accountant as well thanks sis and keep it pushing. Hello ! Great content, thanks. I'll be in Mexico this June, deciding between Merida or Guanajuato. I'm also a Digital Nomad; which location will provide the most living options WITH STRONG INTERNET access and speeds.
Hello. It's a year later, I'm planning a trip , did you take yours and how was it?
You should make a book discussing the lives of African Americans expats in Mexico. Also, I just subscribed to your channel.
@Abramisa
Why… we are all human beings?
I am traveling alone. Will be there in November. Will I be safe?
I have traveled all over Mexico alone; have never had a problem. Going for temporary residency visa next week to move to Merida.💞
She stated Yes😊
Ok im not living with an uncomfortable bed, I just cant and the sofa is also hard??
Hello,
Great content. Any way to contact Cobly for questions?
How do you connect with a cook to come to your home?

I've been learning spanish for a year and I've documented it all. Can you let me know if you think I can survive in Merida with my current spanish level lol? I plan on visiting soon
You should be straight bruh....👈🏿👍🏿

Hi Roshida, are you familiar with any apartments or expat communities in Merida, Mexico? I am researching various neighborhoods currently, but I wanted to see of you have any suggestions or places you may have familiarity with.
Hello ladies from North Carolina
Helllloooo! Thanks for watching!
Hi,
Great content. Is there uber or taxis readily available there?
Are the plugs 110 and 220 like they are here in the States OR should I purchase a converter plug for my electronics?
Hi Debra. You won't need a converter.
During your interview, you discussed luxury bus lines. Do you recommend ETN bus company? Thanks,
Yes I do! But most of the bus lines in Mexico have different lines of service, so make sure you're looking for the luxury or Premium line by ETN. 💛
Also, is Merida a place for toddlers and newborns? Relocating as a single mother
Hi! I wanted to ask you if when you move to Mexico you expect to interact and get to know mexicans. Or if you just start your community without getting immersed with society. I mean would you date, have friends with mexicans?
I was researching my 🐈⬛ food & I payed $36.80 In 🇨🇦 , $30 🇺🇸, & it says $3,991 in 🇲🇽!!! Nulu that’s $200 usd for is 12 lbs of a US brand pet food. 🤯
Shida - you are TOO Funny! 🤣
🤣 Thanks for watching!
Do they have 4 bd room in that area
I'm really enjoying this video, snakes versus Scorpions vs. little geckos, I will take the geckos, They're harmless and they get rid of all the bugs in around your home. I'm from Florida and we have iguanas, Mexico has the green and the black iguanas (endangered species)there. My ex had one as a pet, 6lbs. good watch dog. No visitors 😊 . Tip: If you want the gecko out of the home, put a cup preferably clear plastic( so you wont accidentally crush it) over them cover with the lid and put them outside.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
well!.. she just changed my mind. just a beach. so a real beach person should go elsewhere?
So when someone is visiting, how many lbs can they bring max?
PLEASE EXPLAIN...WRAPPING CARD OR ROCKY CARD. THE AUDIO WAS MUFFLED A LITTLE FOR THE MONEY WORK AROUND.
RAPPI card for $$ transfer
Bring my own Linen?
If you like nice things, yes. If you like nice things at a reasonable price - definitely. 💛
how close are you to the beach?
It's 20min.from the North of Mérida to Progresso beach
Hi - very informative video! I am buying a home in Merida (pre-sale that will not be completed for months) and will be applying for a temporary visa. Until then just curious how you opened a Mexican bank account with only a tourist visa.?
She stated in another video that you could go to their GOVERNMENT website for many of those type of Question.
Or to a... FACE BOOK GROUP...
But it has to be...percisly! For the Area Your moving Too👍👍
Hopes this Helps😊
From A Sista By Way Of Brooklyn NY 😊
Intercam Banco Merida...
Can you flush the TP there?
In most cities in Mexico, it depends on the building you are in.
I've heard the same thing from other ExPats, Merida is mad hot!!!!! I also hear Guadlajara is ideal temperature wise. And, given the variance of prices of each city, I'd honestly have to go with Guadalajara, Mexico.
GDL wasn't for me, but check it out, you might love it. 💛
Single mom (1 child) I want to move from SC 🇺🇸 to Merida 🇲🇽 by 1/1/2023 I want to rent a 2 bdrm 2 bath house Where do u recommend living (hotel?) while searching for permanent housing?

With more black folk movin to Merida it sounds like an open market for wigs n weaves. 💰
I don't know about Merida but I have seen wig stores in Mexico City. BUT... If you want q quality, you might want to bring them with you or have someone bring them down. 💛

If you move to Mexico, the first thing you have to understand is that you are a migrant, not an expat actually most of you Canadians and Americans They never go through the immigration process. Therefore, not legalizing their papers, they are not expat, they are illegal aliens. NOT AN EXPAT
Where do YOU live, Alex?
