Konkan railways has a whole different holding structure. It is owned between Indian Railways as well as the concerned State Government unlike other railway lines which are completely owned by IR. So decision making, revenue generation is difficult. In fact, KR cannot offset losses with some other things which other railway zones do. Mumbai Suburban is quite busy and it's been made a announcement and fixment to change current trains with vande Bharat local train but as it'll take time to change all local trains in crowdy local train and also parallel lines of metro also giving relief to many parts from traffic and more than 10 lines of metro are under construction

If there is no Sub-urban train, Slum inside the City can't be eliminated. Labour force can't afford high rent inside the city. kolkata has one and use extensively with its metro but delhi's suburban network is isolated, station are located in middle of nowhere many times people fear to go to station of suburban network and unlike metro its is not well connected and dont have accessibility like metro and metro is well connected to many places in delhi. This will be good only if AFC gates, platform doors and Air conditioned aluminium coaches are introduced. Stations should also be air conditioned, should have escalators and lifts. Online ticketing needs to be promoted. Strictly throwing waste, spitting and misbehaving inside the stations shouldnt be tolerated and not one person without a ticket should even enter the station.
No plan would work until the corrupt politicians are going to rule the city. Bangalore has the worst infrastructure ever. Its all because of these politicians, and unplanned urbanization. The metro construction is too slow and still wont cover all the areas. City bus is still a failure, forget about metro.

KRIDE, company that will build and operate Suburban rail in Bangalore is a textbook example of how not to build suburban rail. 1. It does not have a tenured technocrat as it’s MD. IAS officers who head KRIDE are at the mercy of Karnataka sate politicians and if BMRCL is an example, no MD will be heading KRIDE for more than a year. This constant churn will lead to super slow construction! 2. Work has not started in most of the lines. 3. south western railways and KRIDE are at logger heads on several issues. 4. Suburban trains do not connect to major suburban towns where there’s real need to connect to Bangalore city. 5. Project Delays have already crept in and the entire 4 lines will be completed only by 2040! By then it’s will be too little too late! 6. Land acquisition will be done by KRIDE and not Railways. This implies that state government laws will be applicable and land acquisition will be at the mercy of political parties - who have no political will to take tough decisions when it comes to land acquisitions or even clearing railway land from encroachment

There are different use cases of different systems. We could also argue why Mumbai built a monorail and metro system when it has a good suburban rail system. Suburban rail is cheaper, it can be built quicker, and can have longer lines, and with an average standard distance between stops of 2 km it becomes a quick way to bring people from the outskirts into the city.
A good public transit network uses all these systems, from metro and suburban rail and light rail and trolleys to trams and ferries and brt and busses in a seamless manner without being redundant. What needs to be done is creating multi modal interchanges between the systems and interoperable and transferable ticketing systems.
Until I see this in real, I won't believe this. I am in Bangalore and the infrastructure is so pathetic that I wonder how they managed to become the silicon valley of India. They have power cuts atleast twice a day, daily .. and u can't run your company unless you have your own generators. Also, the drive sense of the people on the road is worse than blind men operating a vehicle. They don't understand road markings, signals and lane discipline. Bangalore is just a lucky city that grew well beyond its capabilities. If the weather wasn't good it would atbest be like a small town with basic infrastructure. The locals are lucky people indeed !

1. It does not have a tenured technocrat as it’s MD. IAS officers who head KRIDE are at the mercy of Karnataka sate politicians and if BMRCL is an example, no MD will be heading KRIDE for more than a year. This constant churn will lead to super slow construction!
2. Work has not started in most of the lines.
3. south western railways and KRIDE are at logger heads on several issues.
4. Suburban trains do not connect to major suburban towns where there’s real need to connect to Bangalore city.
5. Project Delays have already crept in and the entire 4 lines will be completed only by 2040! By then it’s will be too little too late!
6. Land acquisition will be done by KRIDE and not Railways. This implies that state government laws will be applicable and land acquisition will be at the mercy of political parties - who have no political will to take tough decisions when it comes to land acquisitions or even clearing railway land from encroachment

One single metro is better than two different types of rail networks in a single city .
There are different use cases of different systems. We could also argue why Mumbai built a monorail and metro system when it has a good suburban rail system. Suburban rail is cheaper, it can be built quicker, and can have longer lines, and with an average standard distance between stops of 2 km it becomes a quick way to bring people from the outskirts into the city.
Metro is intracity. Residential area to business area.
Suburban railways is Intercity/City-Village.
A good public transit network uses all these systems, from metro and suburban rail and light rail and trolleys to trams and ferries and brt and busses in a seamless manner without being redundant. What needs to be done is creating multi modal interchanges between the systems and interoperable and transferable ticketing systems.

Until I see this in real, I won't believe this. I am in Bangalore and the infrastructure is so pathetic that I wonder how they managed to become the silicon valley of India. They have power cuts atleast twice a day, daily .. and u can't run your company unless you have your own generators. Also, the drive sense of the people on the road is worse than blind men operating a vehicle. They don't understand road markings, signals and lane discipline. Bangalore is just a lucky city that grew well beyond its capabilities. If the weather wasn't good it would atbest be like a small town with basic infrastructure. The locals are lucky people indeed !
And let me make it very clear .. the local kannadigas are the most welcoming and open minded among all the south Indian states. And they are saddled with third rate administrators.

Bangalore needs both for its traffic. Actually suburban railway should have been built in 90s itself if karnataka politicians had vision. Their visionless thinking have made banglore what it is today
