UPDATE: Blackvue Ultra Battery Install: ua-cam.com/video/cDplAPJQkUs/v-deo.html
Please help me
I use the power magic battery and my in-car hotspot for my BlackVue 650S. Best dashcam on the market right now. 👌🏽
I recommend disabling ALL of the LED lights in the settings for a totally stealth camera experience. I also disabled all of the voice prompts so valet parkers and service technicians wouldn’t notice the camera.
Nice Job and thanks for the info. Wonder why you didn't use an fuse doubler on a constant 12 V fuse port than tap directly to the battery? Would love to see more pictures of the panels as they were removed to know where the connect points are and how to remove.
Impressive installation!
Nice installation nutshell. I was hoping for a more "hands on" DIY video. Are you getting "Battery Fault" messages because you tap right off the battery?
I think you're a neighbor of mine.. how cool.

Best investment you can add to a car specially a Tesla
We would like to address the issue that the dash camera is supposedly affecting the battery. We are certain that this is a Tesla issue. We have done roughly 30 or 40 M3’s and of those maybe three have had this issue. If it were really due to the dash camera all of these M3’s would’ve had the same issue.
Calibred Customs yeah good question...so this is an isolated issue?
I’ve heard that the model 3 has a different power management system and you shouldn’t draw power from the 12v battery, there is stories online of people having to replace it because of that. Have you had any issues since? Or have gotten any error codes?
Just curious, whats the benefits of going with the Netgear hotspot vs the franklin wireless r850 ?
Sweet!
how much energy is it consuming when vehicle is off?
Did you get any Errors with the Permanent 12V (16V ...) Connection ? I heard it gets Erros... oh and a 12V(16V) Connection should be on the right side of the Backseat. But I don't know if its permanent or not.
Why did you go for storing it in the glovebox?
Is the pulsing/flashing of the dome lights in the Model 3 a setting? It’s happening right as you’re saying “everything works perfectly” - and I was like “wait, that doesn’t look right!”
That’s just how it appears on video...it doesn’t actually flicker (at least when you look at it)
MacTechGenius phew! “Disco Mode”
Could I use an old iPhone 5s as a mobile hotspot and just add it to my existing data plan? Also why did you put the hotspot in the glovebox? Could it be mounted elsewhere and more “out of the way”? If I used the iPhone 5s I might just put it in the right side phone dock and leave it there all the time, and hard wire that USB/Lightning connector to the battery. Thoughts on this approach?
It can be placed anywhere...the glovebox was the most convenient since the power source was underneath it and the hotspot is not visible.
The iPhone 5s should work fine but I would recommend testing it first to make sure it continuously hotspots
Just got installation yesterday through CC. I showed them your video and the installer could not remember how they did the WiFi hotspot setup in the glove box. Is that a direct powersource to a battery which is then connected to the pocket wifi device?
I also asked about power magic pro as I already had a unit; they did not use it and said it would not be needed, but my concern is draining the 12 volt battery over time or over longer parking sessions. Did you switch to the power magic battery solution?
It was a direct connection to the battery (same as the dashcam). And you don’t need to worry about the power magic pro either...the main battery pack constantly tops off the 12V battery.
However on the 3 (unlike the S/X)...I and see others developed an error on the screen stating “Contact Tesla Service” which required a 12V battery replacement. So I had CC come out and switch me over to the Blackvue Ultra Battery (the dashcam and the hostpot). I will post an updated video showcasing the setup.
Nice video but why would you want your dashcam to be recording 24/7?
xbe for when it gets hit in a parking lot
Are you to poor for the sentry node?
With the hotspot, how much full video can you transmit per month? How does it charge you after the 1GB per month usage?
I don’t transmit video frequently...but I am sure 1 gig is more than enough for most people.
Well, it was 2 Dashcam install, not 3 Dashcam install. Using quotation marks or rearranging the words in the title could've fixed that though...
How much does it cost for them to do the installation for you?
I'm curious what the labor for this cost as well. Seems pretty involved.
Hello please contact us for pricing and appointments. Thank you.
Calibred Customs so this is a commercial? You have the model of the car and the VB model what else do you need?
How much does it cost?
I paid $180 for an install from an installer in Belmont, Ca (front and back cam plus the Power Magic) on my 2017 Model S.
Just think, you had 9 cameras in your car already including internet. Tesla need only add data storage and bit more software.
Barely any storage. A running 60 minutes or something would be like 2 gigs compressed? I think there is a possibility Elon could add this. Shoot, I'd paid $250 bucks for it if he offered it and I'm guessing others would as well.
Maybe we can eventually use the USB port for removable media
Must tweeted, coming in 2018 via software update.
Be careful on what you wish for, if available to the public who else do you think is going to be interested in the footage? ... cops 🚓 and car insurance my dude
Please help me
Connecting the dashcam directly to the 12v battery does not work. The battery management system detects a fault and the battery has to be replaced by Tesla. Moreover, Tesla removed the direct connection of the dashcam and does not advise this approach.
I heard about that as well...I am going to have an updated review showcasing an install with the BlackVue battery.
MacTechGenius any updates on this issue?
Some have reported this issue...others haven't. But I had my install switched over to the Blackvue Battery: ua-cam.com/video/cDplAPJQkUs/v-deo.html
Nice!!!!
I'm having a hard time finding anyone in NorCal to install for me. No one up here understands dash cams or how to set them up in my small city
They are a lot in the Bay Area and Caliber Customs occasionally goes up there for some installs.
Hello, we service NorCal ass well. Please contact us at info@calibredcustoms.com Thank you.
Serwis do domu przyjechał naprawiać auto tandetne?
This is the only thing that really annoys me about the model 3. They can install 8 cameras but you have to install a dash cam.
Musk tweeted dashcam is coming via software update.
Thanks man, your right. twitter.com/elonmusk/status/902912866335956994?lang=en
I wouldn't be surprised if you have to pay monthly for the service.
