- The wonderful folks at Alexes offered to send me their 24-jar mica collection to test out in various tumbler videos, and this is the first of those videos! I decided to do a comb-over tumbler, which I've done once before (see that video here: • Can A Mess of a Mica S... ), but this time I wisely switched to a fast-set epoxy resin for mixing with the mica powders -- that held the comb pattern perfectly!

That initial drizzle was our carpet upstairs growing up in my brother's and my rooms 🤣🤣 OMG, the 70s were the worst! But, in a comb over, it looks awesome. I loved this method when you showed it the last time. It really brings the colors together in a cool way.

Oh definitely give it a try - it’s fun and honestly much easier to control a comb than using a string of beads, which I’ve seen in other videos. Have fun!

Very creative technique - I didn’t care much for the colors at 1st, but when you applied the comb it turned out very beautiful. Try a combo of cool colors and another with warm colors. I will be purchasing some of those micas - love the varied colors. 🥰. Also, where would I find a comb that size?

Thanks!! Oh, probably! It would require more coordination and timing to do multiple diagonal strips of the combing without messing up another already-combed section, but I'm sure it can be done. 😊😊
Ok to be honest... I love the comb over effect at first I was like, oh no this ain't going over well.. then I saw it.. so cool... the decal was hard to see from here and it didn't look like you combed all the way to the top.. it's just my OCD speaking... I want to see more.. how about a sapphire blue and gold next.

Lol, yeah it’s a toss up between going over the cup a second or third time to get complete coverage and possibly really messing things up or just doing one go-round like I decided to in order to try for a more pristine set of swirls or waves. But there aren’t any rules, it can be whatever the holder of the comb wants 😊 Oooh, that’s a gorgeous combination idea - I’ll add it to the list.
@@Luxinda I agree with 100% of what you said. Another comb over may have been to much. In any event, it is gorgeous and I look forward to seeing more from you.
So I take it that when it was dry, the pattern smoothed itself out, so it was smooth enough for a decal or did you have to put other epoxy over it?

I’m sorry you’re having problems. I just tested it - I cut and pasted the code 103S7H2T directly from the description and applied it on the payment page of checkout. The $2.20 10% discount shows up on the shipping screen of checkout.

They want almost $50 for only 16oz of that lightning epoxy. I’d rather wait on the reasonably-priced epoxy.
I know!! When I first ordered some (what I use in this video), the shipping was only $8 for usps priority. For whatever reason, they’ve switched to offering only FedEx which starts (for me) at $18! So I understand. I said the same thing as you when I went to reorder. In the end, I waited until I could justify the larger size of resin (on sale) plus some other items I needed, and the shipping was still $18, so that was less traumatic across a bigger box of products. I’m not sure why they made the shipping change, but I agree it’s a painful one. 😒
