    Nothing in this world is perfect, but the Vader One is petty darn close. When the Playstation VR2 launched 22 February 2023 it was missing one important peripheral that makes playing VR shooters immensely more enjoyable and immersive; that being a VR gunstock. In this video we'll take an in depth look at the Vader One gunstock for the PSVR2 from Kobra VR, to help you decided whether or not it's the right choice for you.
    Kobra VR is not new to the VR gunstock market. They've been developing and selling VR gunstocks since 2016 and in my opinion have created some of the most innovative and functional gunstocks on the market today. The Vader One is another great addition to that legacy and does all the important things right. There is a few things though that hold it back from being the perfect virtual reality gunstock so sit back and relax and let's get into it.
    I want to thank both Falandorn and his wife, Jynxed, for this amazing opportunity to check out and review the Vader One. I am by no means a super skilled gamer but I do really enjoy VR and their stocks have been a big part of my VR hobby. I made my first review of the Kobra Elite simply because I liked it so much. I had no aspirations of developing a working relationship with them so this opportunity has been another treat I'm very grateful for. Once again to Falandorn and Jynxed, Thank you. :)

    Thanks so much for the review, picked up on positives as well as negatives which is important for potential buyers. You understood the concessions we had to make re weight on rear stock and unfortunately clearance is a little tight on the menu button. Again that was a caveat to having strut sit central but angled without occlusion at rear tracking LEDs. We could have raised the strut but that affects balance and handling, all about trade-offs. We will continue, as always, to improve designs based on feedback so greatly appreciate that 💪

      @@Maraksot78 So far, I'm loving it, but it seems like I need to adjust the in-game gun position a bit because it's hard to look down scope. I tried to adjust it in Pavlov and it tells me to use the right stick to adjust it, but it didn't do anything.
      I noticed that I can bend the front piece a little to align it so I wish the front was slightly adjustable. There could be something wrong with the calibration of my controllers though.

    Awesome review brother!! Have you experienced any ongoing tracking issues with the stock..I am running a stock right now but am having some intermittent tracking issues, tho this setup looks a bit cleaner in terms of a clearer path for ths headseat cameras.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  Рік тому +1

      For the most part the tracking is perfect. I have had it lose tracking on a few occasions but it happens so infrequently I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing differently that causes it to lose tracking. When it happens it's very short lived, typically just a few seconds, and then it's fine again. Most play sessions go perfectly though and I don't lose tracking at all.

  • @Somtric

    It does look really good, I've had gunstocks, but found that I can perform much better without, as they are just in the way and make you slow with other aspects of the games. This does look really good though.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  Рік тому +1

      That's what I love about Kobra VR's stocks. They give you the stability and immersive feel only a physical gunstock can provide and switching to your sidearm and grenades is as fast as going stock free. Sure it does take some practice and adjusting to but once you get it down I find the experience to be much better than going controllers only.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  Рік тому

      Kobra VR makes both right and left handed versions of their stocks. You just specify which you need when placing your order. Unfortunately the Vader One is unavailable at the moment. Demand has been so high for the Vader One orders greatly exceeded their production capacity to the point stocks weren't going to ship for 6 to 8 weeks. To prevent orders backing up any further, they temporarily pulled the Vader One from their store. I'm not sure when they're planning to bring it back but right now I think new orders of their Quest 2 stocks are still between 4 to 6 weeks wait time.

    Does the hinge have more wiggle than the one on the sidewinder?

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  Рік тому +1

      Yah, I feel like it does. I don't know if Falandorn has redesigned the hinge on the Sidewinder to be more like the one on the Vader One or not, but the hinge on the review sample Sidewinder he sent me was quite a bit larger/more robust than the one on the Vader One IMO. He's always tweaking things on his stocks to make them better and/or help improve production time. For example he sent me the Vader one and the next day had to send out a modified front end for it because the original design disconnected too easily. In this video I'm often holding the stock with just one hand with the left controller attached to the stock. The way I wave it around, the front controller would have fallen off with the original design. The modification he sent the following day made the front controller connection much more secure. Another example, the stock he sent me was 1" longer than what you see in the video. I felt it was a little too long so I cut 1/2" of the aluminum strut out of each half of the stock, which felt much better to me. His wife also felt the Vader One was a little too long so because of his wife and my input he decided to make subsequent Vader One stocks shorter. So yah, he's always tweaking things. Anyway, back to the hinge... My guess is the larger hinge costs more in material and more importantly, takes longer for them to 3D print. The Vader One hinge is much less bulky and I'm certain prints up much more quickly. But like I said in the video, you don't need to pull a VR gunstock firmly into your shoulder like you would a real firearm. There's no recoil so you really only need to pull it into your shoulder enough to help stabilize your aim.

    Looks great but complicated to use. How about a gunstock like the Sony sharpshooter? 1 piece and reload by pushing a button? Opinion of both would be great. Like I think most games let you manually reload or press a button and in intense online FPS it’s much more intuitive , faster and more fun to reload at press of a button and still have great gun stability. I will deff check out this gunstock. See hours priced, etc. Looks a hell of a lot better then 1 I see on UA-cam, recently. The only problem I see is the having to detach part of gun to reload and throw grenade. I think it could be learned, like you mentioned.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  Рік тому

      The Sharpshooter is for the PS VR(1) and does not work with PS VR2, and as far as I know all VR shooters make you reload manually and physically throw grenades as it's more realistic/immersive. There isn't any single button presses for reloads or throwing grenades in any modern VR games that I'm aware of.

      You are paying for the solution that it gives not just for the materials.
      you are are paying for his expertise, years of learning, software licenses, and many more things not visible

      Kobra VR is actually a made to order business. When you make an order you get placed into the queue, and they ship out your stock once it's completed. They're actually a very small company. It's just Falandorn and his wife taking all the orders, manufacturing, assembling and shipping out all their stocks. With just the two of them handling hundreds of orders, as you can imagine, it's easy for them to get backed up. The Vader One has been very popular and they have been removing it from their Etsy store at night (they live in the UK) to keep from getting buried with orders. It's back up on their store now though.

      @Ryan Myers they've had a lot of orders for this stock. They tweeted out a picture a couple weeks ago where they must have had at least a hundred of them they were assembling.

      @@Maraksot78 I believe it. I don’t mind the wait or cost as I prefer to support small businesses. Looking forward to getting it in hand. Thanks for the review.

      At the time I made this video the only shooter available for PS VR2 was Pavlov, so that's what I played. 😁

      The smaller makers of vr accessories tend to make better products in my opinion (feedback from customers is listened to and incorporated in future products), but these operations are usually just one guy. Lots of time to make them with small economies of scale means that the product has to sell for more than a mass produced Chinese version that lacks many features. One of those "it is what it is" things.

    People who need gunstocks to actually be able to hit Enemies, shouldnt be playing VR FPS in the first Place.
    Hand Eye Coordination aint so hard fellas

      Maybe for some. For me, it’s not the issue of hitting people it’s for more immersion. I’m really good at Pavlov now having turned off the Virtual Stock on day1 but this stock looks cool for immersion purposes. Not sure if I will buy one but still pretty cool idea

      I think there’s as many prefer a stock as don’t. It’s subjective. Coming from Quest 2 Contractors was my favourite game and many of the the best players don’t use a stock, conversely many do. I prefer a stock for immersion mainly, but it does help flatten the learning curve with natural point of aim for me too.

    Firstly, I will never listen to, believe or even consider any type of review from someone who receives an item for free. When you have to pay out of your own pocket for the item only THEN will I have an open mind. Secondly, I don't care what all the explanations are that people gave here in the comments section, what they're charging is far too goddamn much, especially given the terrible economy in which we live in, inflation out the ass and the cost of living at a ridiculous all-time high. Their pricing is unreasonable. I could maybe get on board if it cost $50-$60 dollars.
    In my state, after tax this chunk of cheap plastic will cost me $107 dollars. Aaaaaand I have to pay a shipping fee of $25 dollars?! That brings the grand total to $132 dollars! JUST for THIS?! Sorry Kobra but you're out of your mind!
