  • Tadej Pogacar smashed Lance Armstrong's totally doped record on Pla d'Adet during stage 14 of the Grand Boucle 2024 after climbing Tourmalet and smashing Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel with a wonderful tactic by the Saunier Duval team with Adam Yates who didn't miss COVID positive Juan Ayuso at all. Stage 15 with Peyresourde, Portet, Menté, Agnés and finish on the legendary Plateau de Beille will be key for Vingegaard to have any chance of taking the yellow jersey from Pogi.

7.4Watts/kg for 40 minutes. Why does no one want to even talk about this. He has improved more then 10% above the numbers produced by Pantatini and Lance and others. I want to believe, but it is such a dominate performance that it has taken the fun right out of the sport. Even the other riders are snickering and saying they are not even remotely close. Remeber Ben Johnson's amazing doped 9.79s 100m Olympics? It shocked the world. Of course Johnson later got busted for steroids. At the time, nobody though running under 9.80 was possible. Well 9.80 is still a rare fast time today and not may can hit it. But as we've all seen, Bolt has smashed it with his WR 9.58s!!! So yes, there can be a clean athlete who can come along and smash the previous doper's record. Armstrong didn't even have the highest VO2max on his team and definitely not in the peloton. His VO2 was about average among GC riders, but EPO bumped it up 10% which is enough to allow him to dominate (remember the top and bottom GC guys were only seperated by about 2-3% difference in VO2max, so a 10% bump was massive). But to think Lance's performance was the maximum humanely possible and that any performance above that must be doping,,, is like buying into a false narrative. Pog has show much more talent then Lance has ever shown as a GC and as a general bike racer.
