That lady is Angelina's mentor, her beloved Grandmother, Mery Zamani. Mery is a well-known artist.
Mentor and great friend, Mary is an artist and poet and has doubtless inspired the words of many of Angelina's original songs. Angelinacspends most of her days in the studio. When she isn't recording she is still working in many ways. As she once said "To me music is life, and life is music". She wasn't joking.
Nice reaction! Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The homeless girl then asked what Angelina dream was. Angelina told her that she wanted to be a singing superstar. The homeless girl said she would pray for her dream to come true. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!
She is going to be a legend up with the likes of Aretha , Amy Winehouse , Bowie etc Im so excited to watch her career. I will go to her concert and buy her records. Just wow !
I am 82, watching Angelina for over 7 years, I'm sure I filled a few buckets of tears...that lady was Grandma Mery. Angelina's mentor, who also filmed many of her videos and produced some of her videos...awesome lady...BTW awesome reaction, AWESOME.....

First, the lady you see in the audience is her grandmother. Angelina is raised very close to her. Her grandmother is a famous painter. I think she played Jazz around Angelina since she was very young. Angelina will graduate high school at 17 this coming year. They may have her go to college, and we will still have to wait for her to do more, or we will have to see. At this time, she is very sheltered and protected by her family. She did a concert in Norway this summer in which she sang at least 18 songs. It is on youtube. Her Uncle is her manager. She is much into charity work. You will find out in the video where she was, but a child liked her favorite boots, and she gave them to her. After this time, she stated she will go without shoes when all the impoverished children in the world had shoes. The song is a million miles by Angelina Jordan in memory of her grandfather, that passed away. Yes, she wrote the song. Her Mother is the lady they turn to two or three times in AGT when she sings Bohemian Rhapsody. Many videos on her youtube and her internet website will explain more. She plays with different people, sometimes who are famous instrumentalists you may know. There is so much more we have learned about her over the years. Her fans are called Angelina's Angels. Angelina Jordan Astar! It's always a pleasure to hear this young lady. From the first note, she pulls me in and takes me to another beautiful place. And i cry because it's so beautiful. How can it be that a young girl does that to me, an old man?! It makes me happy that I live in a time when I can still experience this genius. And it saddens me that I probably won't be able to see her at the height of her creativity again. I have never heard such a singer/performer in my entire life! actually angelina is so different in her approach...her mother said she never had a vocal coach because her voice was so unique they didn't want anybody messing with it that angelina studied music theory. angelina said that " when i sing i go to a place THINK about the music and have a good time. said her place is a happy place and endless...

Romeo, the close up of the lady you highlighted is Angelina’s grandma, Mery Zamani. Grandma, Mery is Angelina’s greatest creative influence. Mery was also an artistic creative child prodigy. Mery is a well regarded painter and poet. The majority of the videos of Angelina’s 6-13 year old performances were produced by Grandma Mery. In Angelina’s recently released cover of Elvis’ song, “Suspicious Minds” grandma Mery is the executive producer.
Angelina’s mother, Sarah and her uncle, Michael, (whom is her agent) are also very involved in nurturing Angelina’s love of singing. It’s a family affair and they are very watchful, mindful and protective of Angelina’s path to success. Angelina’s family has earned the utmost respect and admiration from around the world for how they have raised Angelina and her sister, Juliette.

A great singer, who was at the time, just happens to be a child, hence - Prodigy. Recommend Like a river flows (traditional folk song) , where Angelina sings in Japanese in a tribute to her late Japanese grandfather.
Good reaction. This early performance of "Summertime" was so impressive. I loved it. Her first audition on the show of "gloomy Sunday" by Billie Holiday was the one that made people's head's snap back in her direction, first catching the attention of an international audience. But her second one, another Billie Holiday song, was impossibly done with no music and all her competitors standing just behind her, showing on stage she has no nerves. She pretty much left everyone speechless. The next one I think, "Bang Bang", let everyone know she was not limited to old school jazz. She is one of the most versatile singers in the world. So many wonderful covers and originals. She's not scared of tackling complex songs from top artists.

Great reaction: yes, she had the version by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong running through her head as she sang... did you notice how at one point she whispered "Don't you say no" under her breath... nearly every reactor misses this but it's notable I think .. it's Louis Armstrong's line from the duet with Ella Fitzgerald... I find the way she sings this, very gently, quite remarkable. Your comment about her "summoning the soul of Louis Armstrong" is very perceptive I think - spot on.

Angelina did a concert in July in Norway. She has over 140 covers &. Originals -she’s 16 yrs & since she is still underage her family is involved with her care. She started studying & singing Jazz at the age of 1 1/2 yrs & has already signed with Republic Records. Check out HEAL THE WORLD & BILLIE JEAN (MJ songs) LANA DEL REY songs, ADELE songs, etc. Angelina actually goes worldwide to raise millions for children & gave her shoes to a poor girl without shoes & vowed never to wear shoes until all children have shoes. You can also watch her rehearsals where she corrects musicians. She never gets nervous singing in front of a large audience. MILLION MILES is her own she wrote at 14 and recorded at 15 there is 4 versions. I would suggest the home movie version or the studio version but he lyric version is good also..

You should read her Book she wrote at 9 Years old based on her diary from she was 6 explaining among other things her giving her shoes from her feet to a homeless streetvendor at her age.. she also said in her book that she wanted to be that girl for a second so she could really feel what she felt.. what she partly did when she all of a sudden stood there barefooted on the wet and cold street ... One of the best reactions to Angelina Jordan that I've ever seen! Great job! The lady in the audience is her dear Grandma, Meri Zamani. Many, many of the videos you will see of Angelina's performances, especially those of her singing at home & school, were filmed by Meri. She is the one who actually helped introduce Angelina to the study of jazz when Angelina was about three! They have a VERY special bond to one another. It's Meri's husband (Angelina's granddad) that her song "Million Miles" was written about.

At this competition Angelina at age 7 & 8 sang two Billie Holiday songs, I still cry when I hear her. Her third song, Bang Bang, is just amazing.
"Million Miles" is Angelina's first release under Republic Records, at the age of 14. She wrote this one about her grandfather, who had passed. There are 3 official releases of this song (lyrical, in studio, music video). Immediately after these, you should take a listen to her live performance this made at Norway's 2022 annual music festival.
Angelina is accompanied by people you will see again, but since she moved to the US, there's one musician you will see a lot of. Ivan Mendez, an acoustic guitarist, was invited to play for AJ. There's a video made about a year ago of an interview with him that's well worth your watching. Ivan shares his experience with Angelina and her family. I won't tell you much more about it other than that he gets lost in her singing while accompanying her.

Check out MILLION MILES when she did the concert in July of this year. She did 2 different million miles, but the 2nd one which she slowed down a lot is the performance at the end where she trills her voice almost to a shout - it’s quite amazing. Angelina always have the best band. She chooses them. - In her new Suspicious Minds cover . the piano player is a two time Grammy winner & in her young performances there’s always horns in many of her performances.🌀

It is her first original with her new label and it’s fantastic. However, I think you, having a jazz background, will prefer her second original with Republic Records “7th Heaven” which is more upbeat and has a bluesy/jazz feel to it. The lady you saw focused on in the audience is her grandmother who has been the driving force behind Angelina. She schooled her in jazz music providing her with an education in music at a very early age. Her grandmother is Iranian and is a painter.

For her originals, she has a total of seven, five (co-)written by her, two written for her. Million Miles is her 4th self-written one, but her first she published with Republic Records, 7th Heaven is the most recent one. She also did the two in her sommer concerts this year, and there are professional recordings from Norwegian TV of them. Great reaction, Romeo...!!! Nice..!! You was right about the posters with the image of Louis Armstrong. He was a huge influence on Angelina's career as a vocalist. These posters also have the text: "ANGELINA - Born to Sing".
And, yes, Angelina has her own band, more than one depending on the period of her career. In this song, only the trumpeter is live, the other instruments are recorded from the original arrangement by Ella Fitzgerald. This trumpet player is from one of her bands (he even played on the fantastic studio recording of "I put a spell on you".)
