Having just done this, here a few key points. 1. the three tack welds do not need to be cut. They hold the two piece end cap together. 2. the pressed in top pipe is in there very tight. I would recommend heating the pipe before taking it apart. I had to use a come-along/lolli-column/table vise to remove mine and the inside mesh slid with it(it was easily pushed back in.) 3. Without a tig welder the stainless is tough to weld. 4. It is worth the time if you have a welder. Sound is very similar at idle with a little deeper tone. However when you twist the go grip it is a different story. Quite a bit louder but not too much so. Overall a very worthwhile mod for the DIYer
I took mine to a welder that used a mig gun and stainless wire, he was really good and kept the heat down so there would be no discoloration on the edges.
I’ve just done mine and this is a worthwhile mod for the bloke in the shed. Good deep sound that is not offensive to the neighbours… *don’t cut the three welds as mentioned. *my pipe pulled straight out but others have had troubles. *an ARC welder would not be suitable to stitch it back together. TIG or MIG it…. Very happy with it 👍🏻
Eduardo García Gutiérrez - I didn't make a video of the sound after, but it sounds like the video on UA-cam 1190 Adventure baffle removed but a little but less loud. I think removing the baffle will make it a little louder but it will be way more work and will not look as nice. Mine looks stock, but sounds wayyyy better.
Thanks for all the detailed feedback! Wanting to do this ASAP. Is remapping required though? From what I understand with no popping it is unlikely but would like to know for sure nonetheless. Thanks again!
Barry Weaver - No back fire under deceleration. It has a little sputter but you will get that will all after market pipes, I think it sounds great. I noticed it is not quite as loud as an after market pipe, but it's perfect for me as I didn't want to annoy my neighbors firing up the bike in the mornings. It is plenty loud for other vehicles to hear you.

I just made it like You.
Damn. Sound is great. Cheap and perfect. Thank You

I did mine too, not very easy but I managed. Sounds really great
just did this to my 1290 SA. super easy, sounds great!
Did it on my 1290 adv r. No need to pencil grind my 1290 pipe loose on inside. Simply take end cap off and it comes out.
Would have been nice to hear the finished product
Hello Robert, it was long overdue but I just upload a short click with exhaust sound after the mod. ua-cam.com/video/pBNDa-m7Xos/v-deo.html
Hello,Good video!! could you make a new video to see the result and the new sound that has the bike? thanks

Remapping is not required after this mod.
Hey do you need e remap after this. Will it run fine whitout a remap?
No remap required
how does it perform afterward, does it backfire much or sputter on the deceleration??
