Your friend has really become a true audiophile when concluding most of the comments by “these are really different”.... ;-) loved this new video although there was more freshness and candid reactions in the old one.
Great show, loved the rambling chat with Stephane. I'm a new and budding audiophile (or 'enthusiast' as you prefer to say:-) ) so I could really identify with some of Stephane's comments. I think he nailed it in the final impressions section with his comments on the Elite which IMO were spot-on. I recently demoed some of these headphones...and ended up taking home the Elites, couldn't be happier with their full, rich, musical sound. Thanks also for your earlier videos on the Empyreans and the Elites which were very helpful. Figure you should have way more subscribers, great channel!
Omg thank you for doing this again! The previous video is by far one of my favorite audiophile videos ever. I still want to try the cascade from your friends reaction alone to this day.
The Audeze engineer uses the Smyth Research A16 with his LCD-5 .... would be very interesting to have your friend put on the LCD-5 with the A16 to see his reaction.... I can tell you the A16 takes the LCD-5 into a new listening experience... many think the A16 is for movies and it does that well... but it does music in a way nothing else can do..
I love this format, having two points of view, the stories is interesting, comparisons and explanation of the differences between models are very understandable. Like many of your videos. thanks!
These 2 guys are fun to listen to together. I don't even understand what you're saying a lot of the time since I'm just getting into this, but I love the passion.
When I heard Electrostats for the first time, I instantly grew a full on addiction. Stax in particular.. are an incredible sound. But once you go Stax, there's no going back.
Really enjoyed sitting in on this discussion. Was hoping Stéphane would pull the Susvara over his head to get his take on those too but something left for next time 👍🏼
I really wanted to listen to the Susvara but we had a limited time. And we tend to both speak a lot! ;) Plus I prefer to limit to three or four headphones because then it would become confusing... at least for me.
Been watching your videos for a quite a while, pretty cool. I must admitt being intrigued by the background, the trees that can be seen from the windows. Quite a strange place to live. It looks nice in any case!
Walk yer dingos! Hehe. I overpaid for a set of pioneer HDJ-2000 for $300 at best (worst) buy, but then grabbed it for $200 off amazon, intending to return the first. I wore out the pads, then it didn't occur to me to repad them, so I gave the first away. Then picked up the same (MKII) used for $80. I was spoiled, and I thought all higher end headphones would sound that good. I was wrong. Sivga Pheonix is different, not better. Sundara is more comfortable, and different, not better. Everything else has been various stages of "yes, it's a headphone"... ...partly because I lived under the flight deck of an aircraft carrier for years, and it turns out my hearing isn't your hearing! Thanks for the info, here is a quirky story for the algorithm in return. And an upthumb, for the algo, too :) I stocked up on replacement pads for my pioneers--they are still my go-to travel.
Nice video! For classical music I'd recommend Idagio, it solves the problem of searching for a specific album and has its own catalogue system well suited for classical music!
$500 seems to be the sweet spot. Imagine $100 for dac and $100 for amp. That leaves $300 left for a planar either focused on separation (Sundara) or bass (1060C) while both will have clarity. 😋
Dori Freeman on her eponymous album. The song is Ain't Nobody The whole album is nice too, she really has a charming voice and in my opinion great singing skills.

Hi Currawong. Do you think todays flagships have far surpassed the Sony MDR-R10's? I haven't listened to them in years but thought they were fantastic back then. I know they are legendary but maybe people just remember how good they were when they didn't have competition?
I thought that the LCD-3s thoroughly surpassed them when they came out. I wouldn't pay $500 for the R10s now. Newer designs, such as planars and Focal headphones are significantly better.
@@harackmw I find I EQ every headphone so normal to me but Audeze stuff benefits from EQ substantially compared to some. I have gone thru a massive collection and I am yet to find a headphone that I don’t find I need to EQ to my taste. The problem with this reviewer is that he doesn’t like EQ. Even more bizarre he thinks cables make a different to the sound. The point is. The LCD-5 without EQ sound bad and would avoid and buy something more tonally correct. This goes for a lot of headphones.
@@harackmw I think this comes from a fundamental misunderstanding on how humans perceive sound. Even the shape of ones ears changes how something sounds. It's ludicrous to believe that a single product can cater to everyone's minute differences in preference. The industry wants you to keep dropping 4k over and over, while EQ is free. Especially at the "endgame" area where all have great technicalities.
This video is a bit disingenuous. Really, it's not "just" about the headphones. Look at your other audio equipment! What would be a real test is what headphones or earphones sound best out of the humble iPhone.

The Audio-gd R-27HE.
