Saw a video by eagle eye shooter about you making gas checks. He talked about you making them foe the reloaded network. Checked that channel and could not find any reference. Are you still making them. I have both 308 and 223 projectiles that I load. Thanks
I seen a video that fortune cookie ALC posted about five or six years ago talking about how a few powder coat your bullets there’s no need for a gas check. What is your thought on this? I planed on casting bullets for my 308 but I’m debating on if it’s worth it.
I think it depends on what your goal is. If you're just trying to get some trigger time on steel and save some $, flat base and PC is fast and easy. A gas check gives you a flat even base which is important for accuracy, I even put them on Zinc bullets and noticed accuracy advantage. When the bullet is cast there is a small cavity or a stub in the base once sprue is cut. I've seen Powder Valley selling GC makers now and on sale they were cheap!
Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well! Cheers
Hello my friend. Been using your check tool for 4 years. Its still going strong.
Glad to hear! LOL, I didn't realize I uploaded this publicly! 😁
Seems to be thick stuff you're using there. I like to recycle soda cans into gas checks. works well to form onto the bullet base
For flat base bullets I use that sometimes. But for "normal" cast rifle bullet you need thick enough matetial to fill the gap and stay on.
