    This and two other videos are letting me know that I could spend $1,500 to get this solved, or I could spend a few hundred bucks, learn a lot in the process, and have some really nice ratchets at the end of it. Looking forward to doing this on a weekend where the weather is nice.

    Nice video. I now feel comfortable doing mine - thanks for putting this up! You mentioned the power steering pump right at the end- I didn't see a video for that and couldn't find one for this gen v6 Camry. Did you put one up or use someone else's to help you replace the p/s pump? I've got a 2003 V6 SE. TY!

    I just did mine and was able to remove the 2 bolts that hold the rack to the frame without removing the sway bar bushing. At first it seems that the rack bolts are blocked by the sway bar bushing brackets but there’s enough room to wiggle the bolts out, just move the rack around while pulling on the bolts.

      well, i extracted my sway bar, cleaned all tight spaces. there was a lot of oil and sand there. i like my cars clean

    You rock my friend. Just finished mine. Thanks for helping me though it. If you plan on keeping your car for awhile (I'm up to 354k on my Avalon) I got the lifetime alignment at Firestone. For the cost of two alignments you can go say every six months plus pretty much whenever you do any work that requires an alignment. Saves a bunch of money over time and the car is always pointed straight. Thanks again for your help.

    I have an issue with steering rack in my Lexus ES330 (2005). Getting confused should I buy from a used OEM from eBay or will go for aftermarket parts that are reliable. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks !

    Would you happen to Know : What are the Torque Specs that Hold the R&P ? And the Torque Specs on the two Flare Nuts that connects the fluid lines to the R&P ?

  • @west_park7993

    1:40 instead of hammer, use a special clamp tool to release the morse cone of the tie rod end. 20.00 from freight harbor, or free rent/loan from autozone.

    Is there a particular reason its not better to align the wheel and the pinion by just cranking the wheel full left or right, then cranking the pinion full left or full right?

    The O rings on the green cap you took of, do they go in the rack and pinion where the line goes? Or should they not be used

    Hi, I have a 2012 Toyota Camry SE 4 cylinder. I went to get an alignment today. They checked the car and said I need both inner tie rods so they did not do the alignment. I spoke to someone at the Toyota parts department and he said I have a whole steering rack. He said it is called gear assembly. Is this true?

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  2 роки тому

      Steering rack comes with new inner tie rods. But you can replace just the inner tie rods.

  • @Toyotaguy.

    I have to do this on my 2003 Toyota Avalon when you take the 12 mm off of the steering shaft how does the shaft go backwards towards the steering wheel? Do you have to do anything inside the vehicle to get it to move off of the steering rack? My vehicle does not have a telescoping steering wheel does this matter?

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes just tap it up towards the steering wheel. You don’t have to do anything else inside besides securing the steering wheel so it doesn’t spin.
