actually i love this game although it has a lot of missed such as story line, voice actor etc. but this game has a special place in my heart. nice video btw
Playing Forbidden West, it's crazy to look back at this and see how far Guerilla has come, not just in terms of graphics but their gameplay design in general has improved immensely
Just remembered this game existed today and went online to check what others thought of it, and this is extremely surprising to me. I always felt like this game was super fun and challenging. I took the time to find all of the collectables, get all of the trophies and unlock all of the "photos". I just found this to be so much more than a simple "shooter" but more as something that was trying to show nuance and reality. Now, with the tech of the time, the ability to depict the reality would've been impossible for such a new company, but from what they managed to accomplish, I feel that the story, and the twists within it were much better than other "shooters" at the time.
I can confirm for you that the sex with the Vietnamese sex workers comes off more comedic than sexy. You see nothing and hear fake moans and a window falls down. That's as bad as it gets. Quite anticlimactic really. I agree this game really needed more polish, I did play on easy and managed to enjoy the game despite it's controlling issues. The traps are done well. As for blowing up hay, they did store all sorts of things in hay during that time so that did not surprise me. I thought I was the only one who noticed how quiet the game is...... Glad someone else picked up on that.
Well the sequel is preety interesting, but just that. Found out about your channel recently, love your stuff dude, keep it up, you're going somewhere with these interesting reviews.
Back then this was quite a solid war game. Most games, especially 3rd person shooters were all somewhat unrefined, console's namely. Limitations of the time, granted the aiming weren't the easiest but you can adapt to it with a little practice. Nothing beats the 4 Conflict games though imo. (Desert storm I, II, vietnam and global storm)
okay. now it's impossible to play but I remember when in 2014 I was still playing Ps2 and this game was my favourite. I mean, for its time, it's gorgeous and its Juicy Lucy soundtrack is just perfect. But I think Killzone in general is slightly better on Ps2.
@@RetroGameRater do not worry, I know that isn't the best choice for its time, I just think that was fun enough, a bit different and even if it is kinda clunky when you play, the animations and graphics were good.
kinda want this for the collection still, like the naturalistic style they are going for and inspiration from stuff like apocalypse now, have an old magazine where they talk about this game, how they wish to portray "the horrors of war" etc, its probably not on par with operation flashpoint elite on xbox but still probably worth 3 euros
I grew up to this war game and I really hope they make this game again remastered crossing my fingers and I mean both systems but mostly Xbox one pleases
Love the review! I thought the game was alright in the end. My biggest complaint has to be the health indicator - it's unnecessarily confusing and could've just been a regular bar or meter. Also the game is way too short! Beat it in like three days
I think what would be cool is if a team made a Vietnam War game that was like a cross between ARMA and Spec Ops: the Line. Maybe you could even call it Jacob's Ladder. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see Guerrilla revisit the Vietnam War now that they've had so much experience with the Killzone series and Horizon Zero Dawn. It'd probably be a sight to behold, especially if they really do go down a dark route with it.
Yeah the graphics look really nice for the time anyways. I played a little of killzone 3 and didn't care for it but I know a lot of people enjoy those games.
This game is gud u just bad get gud brah... jk in all seriousness this game played like ass but I loved it at the time there weren't many Vietnam games and being a big fan of Full Metal Jacket this game was awesome to me
What game I want about vietnam? Vietnam people surviving the atrocious invasion of USA, using camouflage, traps and improvised weapons to regain their liberty and country. Serioly, that is why this games (like this one) never see success beyond USA.. everyone knows that they really messed up there.. and who really deserved the "good guy" perspective. No one wants to play WWII as a Nazy.. and no one wants to be america invading Vietnam. Live with that =)

This my favorite game of my childhood.
Happy to here your enjoyed it more than I did.
Same here

Maybe I was a dumb kid, but me and my friends loved this game. The second one however. Well that went off the rails.
Omg the second one with the zombie mind control or something. Man I was so disappointed.
@@5urgs so was i like damn. The first one i loved
I absolutely loved this game as a kid
Me and my friend’s love finding old games that aren’t so well known and trying them out. This is probably one of my favorites. Great video 👍
Thank you

It is good. People born recently just dont understand games like this.
I did not steal the PS2 version from my local Hollywood Video back in, Jesus, whatever year this came out.

Putting on easy mode probably would've helped me a lot to be honest.
It also gives you some vaguely lewd pictures
I played this game a ton when I was a kid. I loved it.
I havent played the game in forever but I remember it being fun as hell so idk
Happy to hear you had a good time with it, I wish I enjoyed it more.
This game kicks total ass!! Played the shit out of this when it came out, now I feel like playing it again shit I miss it.
Man this game was fun

Thanks for the kind words, appreciate the support. 👍

This game was my favorite as a kid
The cheat codes were fun
Never beat it ran into a bug on the xbox everytime i blew the fuel tank the game would freeze
That sounds about right.

Hey if we had known you were comin we'd have saved some Charlie for ya!
I grew up to this war game and I really hope they make this game again remastered crossing my fingers and I mean both systems but mostly Xbox one pleases
I played the hell out of this game and conflict Vietnam when I was younger...they don't really hold up these days lol
Which they could add it on Xbox. But they add physconauts. They also gotta add blood omen😭
just beat the second game yesterday... think of a sketchy series
but your video's great
Glad you enjoy my work, friend 👍
Historically you would believe that no British soldiers ever went to Vietnam
Love the review! I thought the game was alright in the end. My biggest complaint has to be the health indicator - it's unnecessarily confusing and could've just been a regular bar or meter. Also the game is way too short! Beat it in like three days
Glad you enjoyed it. Sadly it wasn't for me but I may have been more impressive if I had played it back then.
Mann i loved this game, played it recently, i just bought the sequel by rebellion, gonna try it
It sucks... But you probably know that by now lol

The killzone games aren't my favourite shooters, but they're still enjoyable.
This game was fucking crazy for a 10 year old to play lmao
Love these reviews
I remember this being all hyped up as a loud, offensive, realistic war game. It looks like they were lying.
think il stick with army men sarges heroes on n64
Dude sometimes i wonder what the hell went trhough my head to play some f*cked up games like this one... i love that i did play it but goddamn
This was a great game
**looks** like SOCOM. nice review!
Thanks, friend 👍
This game is gud u just bad get gud brah... jk in all seriousness this game played like ass but I loved it at the time there weren't many Vietnam games and being a big fan of Full Metal Jacket this game was awesome to me
I can see how it would have a certain charm back then.
This game is good, but Conflict Vietnam than better!
This is sooo different from what I remember
I've only played the second game, can you do a review on it
I'll get round to it eventually, for sure.
Bit of a shame, we know the dev would go on to better things but ah well
Like I said, gotta start somewhere.
The nice point of game: BOOM BOOM WITH VIET GALS... HAHAHA!
Well it's better than Killzone 1... unfortunately.
I like how you always review really crappy games.
The games I review are picked at random. Sadly there are more bad games then good ones.

That’d be neat, like a stealth game with the tunnel systems, like a splinter cell but you play as the vietcong. Neat concept
🤷🏽♂️
